Hey peeps. I kinda gloss over the forum from time to time and have played very little. I have been working 80+ hours/week and in the process of moving, cleaning ladies at the best western chingale'd the computer with a vacuum cleaner while i was out of pocket, etc.

Well I'm finally going to get settled into a place and get the computer (with new entrails) re-attached to the internet I.V. and I'm "comping at the bit" to get going here. However, I'm curious how much time I will have to work into current content before the next expansion is enabled. I'll be starting at ground zero with a shaman or a naked necro I tooled with a few weeks ago. Considering that I will probably only log 3-4 hours a day, do I have time to get a 60 built prior to Velious working mostly solo with occasional pugs?

Possibly, it'll honestly probably take a year + for Velious to hit. The devs had some IRL setbacks (what can't you guys be better than tornadoes?)

Take your time and enjoy the content.

That's a relief man, thank you. I do not want to miss out on Velious. When I started playing back in the day I just caught the tail end of it and then Luclin released and I missed a lot of stuff like coldain faction grinding and prayer shawl. was totally absorbed in kitty litter and alien vampires.

I guess kitty litter was in reference to the vah shir. The alien vampires are all over luclin.

Yea, the piece of trash known as Luclin, or 'cats on the moon'. Worst. Concept. Ever. All it was missing was Rodcet Nife's spaceship blasting off from Qeynos or wherever the hell it is. People were already getting beamed up to the mothership.

What were the alien vampires called?

What were the alien vampires called?

Coterie. You could find them in Tenebrous Mountains as well as a couple assassins in Katta Castellum. They were "recycled" as a boss encounter for the Paladin 1.5 epic years later, too.

Cool. Oh yea the cat people and bazaar. That's what I remember besides solo grinding those coterie with my old necro on ayonae ro.

I cannot make up my mind on a shaman or necro. I can throw down with the necro for sure, but i'm interested in the shaman for the superior group utility and alchemy. While i'm aware of the viability of the shaman as a solo class, I realize it has limitations in comparison to the necro. That was the basis of my question.

I would like to ask a question regarding faction as well. When velious is released, will an iksar or ogre be able to build coldain faction?

everyone is in the same boat for the coldain, starting at the same faction level with the same opportunity for faction. If I remember right the only combo that makes a dif in velious is an ogre that worships zek isnt kos to the lesser giants to begin with.

Put it this way - Necros are awesome in every single way.
They're good at everything - raw killing power, utility, things you can farm/do, etc. Necros are surprisingly good patch healers, mana batteries, DPSers, pullers, backup mezzers...

However, 50+, Shaman become incredibly unique. Stuff like the MASSIVE power of slow, JBB's 45+, a mediocre but worthwhile pet, some of the best dots...And at 60 particularly, Torpor is arguably the best spell in the game.

Yes.

Ok thanks man. Iksar it is. The storm giants will die. I hated the vindicator with a passion.

I liked Ssra temple even though I was seeing snakes in my sleep. VT was pretty bleh though.

The loot was good, I liked the various items with clickies and FT was a big help to casters. AAs and horses were also nice additions.

But yeah the Lore and VT bleh.

Iksar necro definitely rocks, but i'd caution you against iksar shaman. Not that you'd be useless as an iksar shaman or something, but you don't have access to the JBB, which is a pretty substantial tool for a shaman.

I'm not certain the OP really speaks english...it's like he's piping his text through some bad translator.

though iksars do get a -10% exp penalty, not a bad idea to either roll a necro or shaman, but since shamans got a big hit from a past patch, alot of the lvl teens spells were dumbed down, but yea lvling up a shaman shouldnt take too long, as long as you hang out in the areas people lvl, but by lvl 24 it gets better

if playing 4 hours a day with 28-30 hours a week, id say you can hit lvls 1-10 in about 10-15 hours, then 10-20 probally about another 12 or so hours, within that first week you could hit 25 easily on a shaman, 20-30 is maybe going to be the quickest lvls, so within 1 1/2 -2 weeks you can hit 30 fast

on the necro though if you do log 30 hours the first week, you could easily get up to lvl 27 if done right, depends what you want to play more of, to group, or to solo

Even if you play pretty casually you should have more than enough time and then some to level up, gear the char well, change your mind and make an alt, twink them...etc etc before Velious ever hits.

Should be no worries.
