View Full Version : Loot Code?

After a couple of experiences with soloing mobs for coins/loot, I am somewhat convinced they have implemented a loot code of some sort on PJ'99....A code that keeps players from 'making too much plat', maybe in an attempt to discourage twinking.
I solo 95% of the time when I play Project 99, which is another thing that was frowned upon in classic EQ, and maybe another reason for them to impliment a loot code for solo players. A few days ago I was fighting spiders between Nro and the commons to loot silks to make some cash...silks were dropping at a somewhat normal rate, but after about an hour or so, NONE. And i'm talking for about 20-30 straight kills....Last night I go to Lavastorm thinking i'll kill some yard trash mobs near the Nektulous enterance, beacuse they often drop low-end gems and jewelry you can fetch 5gp-1pp for from vendors. Was great for the first hour or so I was killing...getting a steady flow of stuff to sell off and make good money. However, after awhile, no gem/jewelry drops whatsoever, and only getting copper/silver coin. Today im fighting Dervs in nro, and for the first hour was getting lots of bronze weps, some gems, and gold drops....For the last4 hours i've been here i havent seen a single bronze wep, gem, jewelry peice, and I am hardly even getting gold drops! Instead i'm getting maybe 2-3 silver and some copper.
......Yea, I smell somethin' fishy here.....

No, there is no such loot code in the game to deter soloing.

Actually, I've been noticing the same thing, something similar. Been in Uguk for like 7 hours so far, for like first 2 or 3 hours, I was getting plenty of jades and ambers, sometimes even two on a mob, and for the past couple of hours, not even one have dropped.

Randomized events will not produce the homogeneous results you are anticipating.

Try telling that to a statistics major, and see how far you get. XD

After my 72 hours spent, over several sessions spread out over 2 weeks, I never got a Fungi.
68 hour camp straight, at StormFeather. I had faith in the 18 hr spawn, with possibility to skip spawns. It turned out to be accurate. I got some sleep in there, but it was a 3 day marathon.
Welcome to EverQuest. If the quests don't kill you, the camps will.

Spent 34 hours straight in SK once and never once saw Grimrot, I fell asleep, friends started kiting him, they logged me in and got the last part I needed for the Aegis. I hate him so much ><. On the flip side, when I started my monk I had to wait no longer than 30 minutes to get any drop I wanted for him. Fungi, all the headbands/sashes, robe, epic, fungi, etc.

Raster = Bast*rd...ask any monk on the Epic 1.0 quest. I spent just under 40hrs camping that punk back in the day and there are tons of folks with even more painful memories.

I haven't had this problem at all. I've been playing for 2-3 hour sessions, and have found the drops to be relatively normal. But I haven't been farming for a particular resource either... so I'm not sure how that would go.

I'm fairly sure that Hasbin was trolling me there. A number generator with regularized results would be anything but random. Theories like the one proposed by the OP seem to be common among gamblers and gamers, but they really just reflect ignorance of the statistical significance of their own sample.
Maybe attempting to farm in lava storm was your problem. L2FarmBetter.

OP should author a sample of 1,000 data points, which should reflect significant results for 500,000,000 actual events.

I got lucky...I took a random trip one day, he was up and no one in zone.
