This is the original book, from Classic EverQuest. Before any expansions.

kk the maps look like the one I have from 2004, I see now that the descriptions are in different places. I yield to the mightiness of the book :)

Some people might think back to their 1968 Ford Mustang to remind them of their youth. Or a shiny new Firebird. What do I have? A classic EQ map. Those were the good 'ole days.

Yeah, and the maps weren't much help for a person who had never played the game at all before.

I still have this manual. Used the maps a few times over the years.

I mostly just blindly went here and there until I knew where things were.

It's strange. It makes the cities look a lot smaller than they actually feel in-game.

Great thread. just got a little feeling of nostalgia again.

Are these from the "official players guide" sold separately from the game or from the booklet that came with the original box? I remember these maps but have them buried away in a box somewhere.

The information in the "Official Players Guide" was laughably bad I remember.

They are from the booklet that came with the game.

Wow nice find! I still remember reading through this booklet while my Mom was driving home from Best Buy. I couldn't wait to go home and roll a sweet half-man half-bird. Oops. :3

I always wanted to go to places on the cloth map. There are a bunch(classic) that never made it into the game, so while viewing the map and being in game, I would find the spots where these could be. like Oasis having that invis wall at orc highway.

I always remember looking at the original booklet maps vs the towns I was in thinking "WTF?"

And the maps weren't terribly helpful, especially to someone who had never played a game like EverQuest before. Today, I can look at those maps and they make complete sense to me. But 12 years ago, they may as well have been images from an ink-blot test.

That is a perfect articulation of the sentiment I had.

OMG I remember making a wood elf and trying to follow that kelethin map. Didn't work out too well.

Then trying to use the cloth map that came with kunark to run from Halas to qeynos ... Again, didn't work out too well!

thanks for sharing these maps. old eq maps are part of the reason i love this game so much. eq exploration is so much more immersive and rewarding than the majority of new mmos.

I used to use those maps to get about when I was 12 or 13 years old. I would get so flusterd getting lost in Kelethin. I agree; they might had well be ink blots.

Nice! Do you guys know if similar maps of any other zones exist? Like the Commonlands and such?

I have a new EQ themed 3D project in the works, and these are great reference :)

The only maps of such zones really only exist if generated by players who put them online. I can recall the joy of finding some truly high quality maps which someone put a lot of care into creating. I think the person's name was Questor or that was his site's name? I did a few quick searches and found the original site in the Internet Archives. You can go there via THIS (http://web.archive.org/web/20010802030920/http://www.nx.sakura.ne.jp/~chizuya/index2e.html) link
There are some great EQ gems hiding in the Archives..

There's also a book which was put out that you can pick up used and cheap on Amazon..
Do a search for Everquest Atlas: The Maps of Myrist and you'll find it.

I remember reading the books on the shitter over and over between gaming sessions. It's how I memorized the city maps. Oh, the good ol' days.

Many years ago SOE sold the "EQ Atlas." I bought it; no idea if I tossed it out since I never picked it up. Think it had maps of most zones. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. 3D project sounds cool!

BTW, OP thanks for the maps! Loved seeing them again.
