I think it's about that time to have ooc go zone only..
i believe back in the day servers consisted of 800-1500 people..
it would make that classic feel again..
we could implement the EC bazaar with this many people...
this could also get rid of the retarded ooc/auction spams that people complain about.
Lets have a vote??

I like server wide,
Maybe its a crutch, but EQ is painful enough, I'm fine with server wide LFG in ooc.
I wish we could have a separate channel for healthcare reform and drugs.

I support this thread.
I think that more people should speak out about their feelings about getting rid of global /ooc!
Don't let haters stop you! Protest idiot global /ooc in new and exciting ways!

Wow seems like there is a new post on this subject every other day...
I don't mind the OOC spam. What I do mind is the mindless weed discussions going on time and time again!

just because serverwide ooc is not classic it doesnt mean its not a good idea. just hide ooc in /filter and your problem is solved. there is still shout for zonewide talkin if you disactivate ooc. same goes with /auction

Here's the vote you asked for. Remember it's compleatly up to the dev team in the end.

It was about time when the server population was 100.
/ooc is useful for everyone. I do not want to hide it if it's global just because 10 retards on this server make up 90% of the messages.

Yeah Finawin and all the genious people out there, I think most of us are aware of the filter ooc out and I myself have to create another box and drag it to the corner, but we shouldn't have to do this. All you pesamistic people who say it will never happen really know everything, and I guess you are all devs too right? awsome! and they said rotation would never be lifted, you forum junkies really have no life. anyways, thanks hasbin for the support, and IMO the ooc thing will be getting turned off. It's pointless hearing level 2 and level 3 people ooc and it getting spammed with drug topics and just nonsense stuff. OOC could be helpful if it was zone wide, or if even 2-3 zones next to each other could hear it, but not the whole world of norrath..maybe its convenient and people like it, but it doesn't boil down to that. Just my 2 cents.

Please, its NFP...all the cool kids know.
I'm all in favor of removing serverwide /ooc. The Population of this server is growing every day, and while I understand that you can chose to ignore /ooc, I think it takes away from trading in EC.
Furthermore, I think that this falls into previous discussions we've had on this board regarding time sinks and leveling. By removing /occ it will force people to spend less time exping and more time sitting to trade, which will slow this server down (in a good way)

Most servers had 1500-2200 players during normal peaks.
This server peaks at a little under 600 players
Most servers had "minimums" close to the 1000 mark. Some much higher. A few somewhat lower.
This server has daily minimums under 200, probably under 150.

i vote for classic ooc on tuesdays only
How about on an on-topic /ooc for LFG, game questions etc. and an off-topic /ooc for discussion of weed, politics, FFIIXXV, golden toothed erudites etc.
This way people can ignore the off-topic /ooc and still be able to do global LFGs and such.

I like when people use auction for on-topic stuff, because they've ignored ooc. Thats my favorite.

People can just use these forums to sell items. There's no use for an EC bazaar anymore.

Agreed, but then again there's also all these random spammers who write random crap from time to time making it hard to even use those channels to communicate with the "normal" people. It's just getting to the point where OOC is nothing more than a spam-fest of useless blabber, kinda like WoW's is/was since it was released even.

Now people. You guys bitching about taking away ooc chat is actually more annoying then The chats that are on ooc There has probably been 4 threads about this already at this point. I hope they never take it away.
If you don't like it leave. I'm tired of these QQers. This is an emulator server. Sometings are implemented and cannot be changed. All emu servers have global ooc. I think that how it stays
I rather hear spam than complainers all day :)

The irony of the situation is that the people who support game wide OOC spam bitch the most about multiple threads spamming the forums. On the other hand the people who support single zone OOC to control spam do not mind an increase number of threads on the subject causing forum spam.
Make up your minds people!

I don't think anyone is a fan of spam. There are ways of remedying the spam situation without removing the serverwide ooc.
Setting a minimum level at 5 would likely alleviate most spamming issues.

Whatever works for you, fine go ahead an use it.
My problem is, OOC is abused most of the time.
The people who actually use it for help, they sometimes can't get help because of the daily "pot" discussions, or the daily "politics" discussions.
Serverwide OOC is good for the people who actually need it, bad for the people who are able to spam because it's serverwide.
I leave it on, because I like to answer people's questions, I turn it off when the morons start spamming about the daily topics.

The only reason global ooc/auction is still on is because of the population difference from live versus our server now... and the fact that chat channels are not functioning properly.
I don't want people thinking it "won't go away", because it will eventually. That time cannot be determined by polling or arguing. It's a development decision that will be made.
There have been discussions that global chatting benefits this or that.. but honestly, all it does is give people the global ability to speak, which is non-classic. Since this is an emulated server and there are constant questions for installation/spells help, it has remained active.
There is a non-classic aspect that I would be willing to live with.. and that is the chat channels. If people could just /join general, it would alleviate some problems. The chat channels are broken, so that's not an option currently. Will they be fixed? Probably. Do I think people should "default" log on to global ooc/auction? No.
