Hate to say it, but both of those are kinda difficult. Mixing a good race and evil class can lead to you simply not knowing at first encounter whether a good NPC will kill you. It's easier to play evil/evil, like troll or ogre SK. Iksar SK has the benefit of having their own town on kunark, so when he/she'll eventually ruin their VS faction, they still have a place to go in the place to be. Iksar of course with the nasty trollesque penalty and unable to wear current-gen plate, though, like blood ember / umbral.

SK deity choice is always evil one, so don't count on much.
Of course inherently evil races like Ogre, Iksar and troll will have even worse faction around

I would say Human SK of Innoruk is your BEST choice:
you will at least non-kos to 2/3rds of Freeport, and can get an easy starting for building faction in Neriak

Human SK of Bertox will have a little worse time around, as the only other place where bertox is worshiped is in Akkanon

Erudites worship CT, and won't get you love anywhere at all...

For power-build combo: pick either Ogre (front stun immunity) or Iksar (AC bonus +regen)
For coolness: Dark Elf :D

I always thought Iksar not being able to wear plate was just stupid.

Out of those two choices, Human will give you the least issues, but there will still be issues.

Iksar plate-thing will be fixed with Velious gear, and then they will rise above all other SK races in terms of AC and regen

But they'll still be worse than Dark Elves. Besides, it doesn't matter until AC works properly.

umm they get same armor choice in Velious, but Iksar get racial AC bonus on top of that

I played a human sk on live and had very little problem with faction. P1999 factions are a little different than live though. I was bert. woorshipper.

When Velious launches eventually it won't matter.

As mentioned being evil as a SK isn't as big of a deal because they are all kinda evil. You get invis at 29 or 20 with a circlet of shadow.

Humans and Erudites are on the lesser hated end. They do have some problems being luke-warm on faction as mentioned. I would roll a Erudite for the stats even if Paineel is a weird starting location. I'm sure he can train in the sk guild of Freeport. Dark Elves has a better starting location and similar stats.

The main reason, IMHO, to avoid the ogre/troll/iksar is the experience penalty. That said I would rather endure faction and grinding Hell to end up with the toon I want. If he doesn't go with his gut he will regret it at some point.

Honestly for most new players a Pally probably makes more sense. Invis and FD open the world though for the evilest races :).

Ps: night blind isn't a problem on P99. Likewise the advantage of ultravision isn't really there.

I posted some information on Erudite Necromancer faction here (http://www.project1999.org/forums/showpost.php?p=396162&postcount=10). In a nutshell, the "true evil" cities (Neriak, Grobb, Oggok) aren't very welcoming, and you'll be KOS in at least parts of those cities. On the other hand, you can visit some good cities that the other SKs can't, but that's of limited use.

One thing I haven't looked at is faction in Firiona Vie. I expect to be KOS, but I wonder if it's easier to fix as an Erudite than, say, a Dark Elf or Troll.

Oh, one other thing: there are a few SK/Necro spells that are only available from the SK guilds in Paineel, Grobb, and Oggok. As an Erudite, my only option is to buy them from Paineel. Not a big deal, but you'll want to pick them up ahead of time unless you want to make a cross-country trip for one spell.

as a Erudite necro under cazic, I don't remember anywhere that I couldn't go starting off. Other than some places in Erudin and the highelves. Maybe gnomes too.

I know I was able to run into rivervale starting off and had no problems.

I'd suggest Erudite SK under big C, Unless factions where changed somewhere along the lines.

This...and honestly, if you're playing the game to its fullest, most of your time isn't spent wandering around the world or visiting some city you don't really *need* access to - it's spent killin junk which probably hates you anyhow.
