Fishing skill

Has anyone ever taken the time to level fishing in EQ on p99 or live? What does it do and how is it beneficial?

I did on live. Just got a bunch of bait/foraged grubs and spammed it while I was LFG. A few tradeskill quests require a fished item, and you can get some decent food in velious. Not good for much else that I know of.

It's a good source of rusty daggers for pets.

It's very much just for amusement. There really isn't more to do with it until PoP.

i have 200 fishing, its a waste of like 4-5hrs

Some quests need fishing.

Like in Plane of Meischief, you fish a set of cod cards out of the moat to turn in for another quest item.

Fishing 200 as well as Swimming 200. Its what happens when no one wants a lv. 54 druid, or the rest of my characters in a team. Hey, how about a GM fishing event! God that sounded geeky.

It's mostly useless here, but some people are interested in maxing all of their skills so they do it anyway!
