Kinda odd that you have 15" and 17" displays, the size of the laptop is generally the first thing someone decides before they buy something. I'm assuming this is going to be a gaming laptop, so the decision comes down to if you want something adequate with a large screen for $100 cheaper than something with a smaller screen and a little more power.

And without even knowing what you're doing with it it's hard to judge the value of the cpu/gpu upgrade.

In general I lean towards Asus on all decisions. It's right up there with Apple in quality with more bang for the buck.

Admitingly I didnt look at the links. On my phone now, etc.

What are you going to do with it? I've personally gone back to desktops. For the money the performance, upgradability, and durability beat laptops into the ground.

asus' customer service has gotten really bad the past few years, so bad i dont even buy thier products anymore. Acer is usually a great choice for bang/buck.

id choose acer

specs seem fairly similar, I would go with the bigger display which is the acer.

Normally when people say LOL they don't really mean they laughed out loud.

I actually laughed out loud.

I'd go with Asus personally because of the video card. Won't matter much for eq probably though.

Well. This may be innappropriate and it is certainly off topic... but I've got to say that the OP has one of the most annoying sigs I have ever seen.

I'm not an Apple fan but they have a decent run with post-warranty reliability. I'm not a Honda fan but can't knock their ability to build a decent (albeit boring and expensive) machine.

Asus is beast and that's why we only buy them. We have had custom built desktop and have had Republic of Gamer laptops from them for years now. I'm done with laptops because they slowly die and sit around the house like snow tires. :p

The only Apple I have is my iPhone. It's not bad but I treat it like a rental Honda Civic.
