Wizards - Ice Comet Research Question

Have both runes required for combine, don't know what p99 has the requirement for a successful combine set at.

Need any advice at all from wizards that did Tantor's Wheel quest and got ice comet from combining the runes so I don't waste them. Thanks!

49 Ice Comet Astral Frost - This can only be made with the no drop versions of the runes.

Yeah he mentioned the Tantor's quest so I'm pretty sure he's using the quested runes. It's been about a year since I did the combine, so I don't remember the trivial. But I believe I had a few points over the triv and I didn't fail it. Though other wizards I know did fail it while above triv.

There is always a chance to fail. I can check on my wizard later, I'm pretty sure he is at or a few points above what I found was trivial for IC combine on some site with classic info.

I have the runes from the quest. My question is what is the trivial research skill that I need to no fail the combine when I go to make the spell.

I have a skill of 184 and received the trivial message when I successfully combined the quested version of the runes

I also have a pair of the droppable runes if you need to re-try the combine. Be advised the runes I have are droppable but the scroll you create is no drop.

Yes, they do, unless this was changed within the past month, which I have not seen.

Do not turn in your staff for these runes, I ran around to vendors buying the runes and was able to create ice comet around 182 research. It ended up being the non-tradable one tho, but if you are just making it for yourself then that won't make a differance

I just combined a non lore Rune of the Astral and non lore Rune of Frost at research lvl 144 and created a NODROP Ice Comet Spell.

Now I get to keep my staff of the wheel yaaaay :D

But yeh researching it definitely absolutely works. I didnt realize Id have to combine my own ice comet spell, so I wasted skill points on crap i didnt need and only was able to get research up to 144 with the skills i had.

I failed at 154 skill. Gonna spend another 1,000pp and try again i guess when im at 184.

Do yourself a favor and just forget about wasting your time and plat leveling research to get this spell. You don't need it because you're probably quadding anyway, and you'll replace it with a 50p spell from a vendor in a couple of levels.
