Looking to buy an 07' or newer sentra se-r curious if anyone has one and feedback on the audiosystem, i know it won't hold a flame to a well put together aftermarket system, but im curious as to thoughts on it and how you like the car and if there are any unusual mechanical problems that creep up in sentras or anything to watch for, ill be doing my usual online research but figured id check in with my e pals as well. :)

I have an '04. The biggest complaint I have had was the fuckinng map light compartment on the ceiling decided to fall out. it's made of cheap ABS plastic and it was held on by a few tabs.
I recently had a rim repaired for a crack but I imagine that is far more related to the road conditions around here, moreso than the car itself.
Honestly the car is a fucking blast to drive: the suspension hugs well, the engine has decent power..the car is small but the engine is not, has a decent turning radius for FWD... all disc brakes rule.
I have what appears to be the stock stereo (which is still the upgraded system) and it's got enough oomph for my tastes. I get some serious mirror shaking but if you are looking to rattle the shit out of your trunk you'll have to go aftermarket.

I test drove a couple mid 2000s SE-R Spec Vs. Didn't listen to the radio but they were fast as balls. One of them was super cheap because the lemon law had been invoked due to frame damage. Don't know if some freak occurrence happened to cause this one to have a bent frame or if it was common, but I passed on both and got a Rav-4.

I would want to know how it was driven before you got it for that amount of money.. Find a mechanic who you believe will be able to inspect it with that in mind before you buy it imho.
Basically, 47k is a lot of time to hotrod a new sports car is all I'm saying.

Manual transmission sucks imo.
*cue muscle car enthusiasts telling me I'm a newb*
I get that grease monkeys like to have more control over the engine, but no stick shift will have as smooth of a ride as an automatic. Plus it's a pain in the dick to use in heavy traffic.

u dum?
its not about having a smooth ride- it's because its *fun*. generally people buy sports cars b/c they are fun to drive, so it makes sense 2 maximize da enjoyment level. pretty much the only setting in which a manual is dum is if you;re commuting in stop start heavy traffic

Few questions..
what are you buying a car for?
like...
You have kids?
You want sport car?
you want gas mileage?
you want reliability?
you want cheap parts?
easy upkeep?
help me, help you.
Honda - Super reliable, great gas mileage, decent sportiness depending on model.
Don't buy a civic, pretty cheap for dependability.
Get a Vtec - 15 million Vtecs built, not a single one failed.
Nissan - Sentra's are good for family cars, 350z and 370z are ok I guess i don;t know too mucha bout them. 240sx are fun. 300zx are for extremists who like badass cars but love burning fuel.
Toyota/Scion - Reliable, good gas mileage, sporty depending on model, somewhat cheap.
Ford - No
Dodge - No
Chevy - Cobalt SS are pretty cool and Supercharged.
Subaru - other then too many imprezas like theres too many civics, hard to work on, expensive parts, somewhat reliable, decent gas milage. fun sporty cars.
Mitsubishi - eclipse's, lancers, evos, diamontes, DSM are good company, but hard to work on and expensive parts, but not a bad choice.
Basically all cars will have pros and cons ofc.
Never buy a Kia
Never buy a Hyndai
Never buy a Suzuki

Stock 7mgte engine can sustain 18psi. I have a new headgasket with arp bolts to torque it properly for that kind of psi from the turbo.
Within, 205 is about correct for a non turbo supra. Mine has the stock CT26 turbocharger and is rated at 230 hp (172 kW) at 5600 rpm. But shimming the waste gate to open at 8.8 psi instead of 6.2, and then putting a 3inch cat back exhaust and 3 inch down pipe and boost controller can easily increase it to 16+ psi. Change out the injectors and update the ecu and you avoid fuel cut off and are able to take it up to 330 RWHP.
Granted, using the most expensive electronic boost controler (around 1000-1200) and exhaust (700 or so) I'm still well under what he put in his vehicle. And I have the targa top. I easily get more looks in my car than he does.

so let's assume the only reason I am getting a new car is so I can beat internet forum trolls at racing, I'll put as much into mods as you do on yours from stock, then you tell me who has the faster car.
Also your bastard child will be making the same argument 20 years from now how hes modding his 2010 370z that he bought for 2,300 bucks and how anyone who buys a car from within the last decade is shit.
Hopefully now you see why your argument makes you look like you have downs.

Haha, I remember when you posted that on the forum asking for advice, I tried to help a little but me and some other dude got into it about light flywheels.
350z look real sexy, and Nissan is my personal top 3 car companies, so I think its a nice choice.
Toyota just makes solid long running vehicles.
I'm on both of your sides here.
Oh, and if you drive the Supra to and from work and its not only used for drag, don't get a light flywheel unless you want to be a boss.
I was reading on a tuner thread, it was funny, this guys all..
"Heavy flywheels are for people with no clutch control"
"Light flywheel will always pull faster 1/4 miles"
I lol'd cuz it was true, light flywheels are a freakin pain to deal with, but fun.

Since I know you are just a troll I wont fully respond to your post, but a 20 year old piece of shit is gonna have a shitload more decay on it(Rust, bushings, bearings, blahdy blah). Sure yours might have the "super sweet ponypowers" on paper but the 350z will have a much smoother ride. Plus, your engine probably lost a bit of HP due to being 20 years old so you can't compare off the lot specs.
In short, I'm sure your aftermarket mechanic told you about how you will do mad burn outs and drifts with your car but it's really just a turd.
