After I asked the forum folk what their favorite bars in Norrarth are, Alefia and I decided to set out on an adventure to visit every tavern in all the land. We documented our progress through screenshots, some of which you can find here (http://norrathbrewing.wordpress.com/2011/07/). Along the way I also made an effort to collect every brew and spirit I found. In addition to that, I also decided to take up brewing as a tradeskill and have since reached a skill of nearly 200.

And here is the result:

It's true that a few are not drinkable, a couple are not alcohol, and one is even poison. There are also a few brew related books and other rarities. I am still missing some additional alcoholic drinks, though. I still have not visited bars in Grobb or Cabilis (though I did buy from merchants in FoB). A few which I have my eye on still are: Clockwork Oil Stout, Blood Spirits, Oblong Bottle, and am also interested in acquiring some other quest items such as Case of Spirits.

Alefia and I began the pub adventure in July, and I started to dabble in brewing come August. Since then, I have been tracking my progress using this blog (http://norrathbrewing.wordpress.com/). I did this to add some additional entertainment/collection value to the mostly useless skill of brewing, and also to keep record of information about classic recipes as I successfully brew them.

With all that information on hand, I've now been updating the P99 wiki's Brew page (http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Skill_Brewing) with all the classic recipes. It used to only have the 10 most basics, but now there are nearly 40. I know of a couple more that still need to be added, and there are handful of others that I am still trying to confirm if they are classic or not.

For the most part it was not all that difficult to sort through the non-classic recipes on eqtraders.com (http://eqtraders.com/recipes/recipe_page.php?article=35&rsa=Brewing&sb=trivial&sub=alcoholic&menustr=080030000000). Majority of them there actually are classic. A few tricked me though, such as JumJum Spiced Beer (all ingredients exist but the combine does not function), Armadillo Simmer Ale (have killed 50+ Armadillos in NRo and Oggok, and never saw one Husk or Meat), Underfoot Brown, Thubr's Darkened Ale, and Superior Lichen Spirits (ground spawns for those three don't seem to exist).

Anyway, I am posting here to share my collection screenshot, brew blog link, and the new pages on P99 wiki. Besides the brew recipes, I am also in the process of filling out a list of other alcoholic drinks which are not brewable (http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Unbrewable_Drinks). As an extension of that, I am also compiling the information and screen-shots that I collected during the initial visit to all the taverns.

The tavern wiki (http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Category:Taverns) bit was not a part of my original mission, but it is equally enjoyable so far. I've always loved researching EQ lore, and this sort of gives me the opportunity to look closer at some of the details of these establishments and write my own analysis. A big part of my wiki entries so far are talking about the "Poker Paintings (http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Poker_Painting)" which you have probably noticed in many of the taverns around Norrath. I've also briefly researched most of the NPCs that hang out in the various taverns and wrote a little bit about their related quests and lore.

Of course it is a Wiki so by all means feel free to add your own information as well. Also please let me know if there are other brews you know if that I have missed, I am still running across new things.

But yeah apparently I have way too much time on my hands. Actually I really don't. This is just the kind of thing I stay up till 3 AM doing.

Just wanted to say thanks for the rather cool and unique contributions to the wiki! I added a link on the mainpage to Poker Paintings :) After all, wasn't exploring the crazy level of complexity in Norrath why some of us loved EQ so much in the first place?

There is a distinct absence of You Mad Brew in your collection!

I just wasted an hour reading that whole blog and now I have to stay after work. I'll be buying every oddball kind of beer I can find at my liquor store on my way home tonight.

No kidding...I had no clue there were so many recipes in classic.

So...can someone clue me in on the point of a high alcohol tolerance? I heard it is supposed to make you be able to drink more before experiencing ill effects, but I have yet to see that in game...

The only point in terms of affecting game play I ever saw was that there was a LDON raid (F those raids btw..) where the boss had an AE that was largely canceled if you had 200 AT.

Great additions to the wiki I love exploring or just reading stuff like this.

Thanks for the kind words & the assistance on the wiki entries, Ravhin! I would never have entered all that without the help of your incredible entry generator, too.

The exploration and discovery factor is definitely what got me hooked on EQ back in '99 and continues to keep me going now. There is plenty I did not see/do back then, so i'm grateful to have that opportunity today.

Well sweet I'm glad to see somebody is reading it! Most of the time during my writing I sort of wondered if the site would see any traffic. And I definitely hear ya about wasting time at work...I did pretty much all of the wiki entries at work hah (shoot I better watch what I say...toddfx is the alias I use as my professional web presence as well!). Fortunately i've had a lot of down time at work waiting for renders over the last few weeks...

It's also impressive when somebody can fill the chat window with booze messages and still be typing coherently. I admit my tolerance is only about 50 or so, but talk to Leefy G about his....

That is a good question actually. I bought it during some ingredient hunting expedition and had never seen it before so I decided to hold onto it. It is used in future brewing but not sure if we will ever even see those recipes. Actually, I wonder if the item is even supposed to exist on this server? As far as I can tell, it is only used in Ocean Dye (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=19880) and Fizzy Odus Juice (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=15307). Fizzy Odus Juice does not look classic to me but I have not investigated or tested.

Well, my alcohol tolerance in game says it is 200, but I've seen in-game skillups up to 220. I assume something is broken because I recall the cap being 200 on live and that the skillups beyond that point don't mean anything.

High AT increased how much you could drink before you got drunk. Pretty sure at 200 you couldn't get drunk anymore, because it was required on some GoD+ raids where mobs had drunk AEs.

Well I know for a fact that you can still get drunk on p99. Might take more than a stack (depending on the brew) but.

I thought I was the only one who loved "poker paintings". Cool thread. 8)
