Complete Guides: Oggok (Below)
Incomplete Guides: Qeynos (http://www.project1999.org/forums/showpost.php?p=433776&postcount=19), Cabalis
Changelog: Oct 14 2011 added Black Shadow Tunic (Oggok).

This will cover all the best quests available on Project 1999 for young players to make some additional experience and money. I haven't done all of these on this particular server, so if something's not quite how it was on live I apologize for any misinformation. Most of this is available on Allakhazam, and indeed I used it a bit as a resource for exact locs etc, but this should be more presentable.

Also, this is a newbie quest guide. The cut-off that I'm using is level 25 or so, otherwise I'd be listing every quest in the game. Some quests span multiple zones and don't really have a "home" such as Stein of Moggok, that will be listed under a Miscellaneous or Class-based section.

I'm not going to mention factions, since all the quests I list I deem are worth whatever faction hits you may take. The exceptions are quests that are extremely excellent at quickly and effectively raising factions such as the bent playing card quest in Qeynos.

A note on "appropriate" races/classes... it doesn't represent who can actually use the rewards, just what would be reasonable. A dark elf may be able to run to Oggok to do a quest for a level 1 spell, but that would be pointless and not recommended. Speaking of Oggok, we'll arbitrarily start there first.

Oggok
http://www.eqmacwiki.com/eqatlas/images/oggok.jpg
Location Key
1 Shaman Guild, Merchant selling Spell Components and Various Weapons
2 Ambassador K'Ryn, Beastlord Trainer in tunnel just south of this one
3 Merchant who sells Blunt Weapons, Ore, and Large Chainmail Patterns, Oggok Forge
4 Merchant selling Food and other Goods, Pottery Wheel and Kiln
5 Merchant selling Large Boots and Sewing Patterns, Loom
6 Merchant selling Large Shields, Soulbinder across at tunnel openings
7 Merchant selling Various Weapons
8 Merchant who sells Boxes
9 Priest of Discord
10 Merchant selling Arrows and Fletching Supplies
11 Merchant who sells Food and other Goods
12 Merchants selling Food, Oven
13 Shadowknight Guild, Merchant selling Various Weapons
14 Merchants selling Large Leather and Cloth Armor, Merchant outside selling Various Weapons
15 Merchants selling Large Chain and Plate Armor, Merchant outside sells Large Plate and Shield Molds, and Smithy Hammers, Forge Inside
16 Shaman Trainer, Merchants selling Alchemy Items and Blunt Weapons
17 Merchants selling Food and Alcohol and Brewing Supplies, Brew Barrel
18 Warrior Guild, Merchant selling Various Weapons
19 Bank

Froglok Tadpole Flesh
Appropriate Race(s): Ogre
Appropriate Class(es): Shaman
Appropriate Level: 1

Give 4 Froglok Tadpole Fleshes to Zulort in the Shaman Guild for a Spell: Burst of Flame. Not the best quest, but saves a bit of cash.

Lizard Meat
Appropriate Race(s): Ogre
Appropriate Class(es): Any
Appropriate Level: 1

Give 4 Lizard Meats to Krogna in the warrior guild for a rusty battle axe. Or give 4 to Soonog in the Shadow Knight guild for a rusty two-handed sword. Both are worth about 2 gold, the two-handed sword is worth a bit more. You can combine these with a sharpening stone in the forge (#3 on the map) to improve the delay slightly and upgrade your newbie weapon quickly. Lizard Meat is so common you'll make nice money on this one. I believe you can even buy up vendored Lizard Meat to turn in and turn a profit.

Pickled Froglok
Appropriate Race(s): Ogre, Troll
Appropriate Class(es): Any
Appropriate Level: 1

Bake a froglok meat, vinegar, and jug of sauce (in an oven, #12) to make a pickled froglok. Turn in 3 of these plus 10 gold to Chef Dooga (#17) for:

http://zam.zamimg.com/images/2/a/2a03f4659565f88dcf0f890c710ab1d8.png

I recommend training Baking to the max at your vendor (22?) because skill points accumulate quickly. The trivial is 51 I believe so you're gonna fail a bit. This quest is much better for the PvP server, especially for trolls considering their abysmal starting fire resist.

Deliver Your Meat
Appropriate Race(s): Ogre, Troll
Appropriate Class(es): Any
Appopriate Level: 1

You're going to want to do this quest at least once because the reward is so nice, but it can be quite time consuming especially without sow or ports. It's a very simple quest, tell Chef Dooga "I will deliver froglok legs" and then head to Neriak. Give the legs to The Gobbler at -325, -125 in Foreign Quarter. You get a bit of gold but more importantly you have a small chance to receive these babies:

http://zam.zamimg.com/images/5/9/59e8bb827ea53c702270f83a6a8c35eb.png

These gloves are OP as fucc for PVP and still something you'll want to have around for PVE. Unfortunately 90% of the time you get this instead:

http://zam.zamimg.com/images/2/a/2a9652870fba86d8901106d94df35af7.png

The upside is you can be a shaman with an axe.

Black Shadow Tunic
Appropriate Race(s): Ogre
Appropriate Class(es): Shadow Knight
Appropriate Level: 5+

Kill Lizardman Scouts, they're most prominently found at the lizardman camps denoted by 1 on the above map. Collect 3 Lizardman Scout Fifes and turn these in along with the tunic you received for turning in your guild note to Bonlarg for an upgraded tunic.

http://zam.zamimg.com/images/8/b/8b01d6846610a81f1a5a937249ce10b8.png

Lizard Mystic Dolls
Appropriate Race(s): Ogre
Appropriate Class(es): Any
Apporpriate Level: 5+

Lizardman Mystics are found in the Lizardman camps around the Feerrott and sometimes they drop Mystic Dolls. Turn in 2 to Grevak in the Shadow Knight guild for a minor item such as backpacks, large patchwork, SK spells, etc as well as some gold.

Initiate Symbol of Rallos Zek
Appropriate Race(s): Ogre
Appropriate Class(es): Shaman
Appropriate Level: 10+

Keep 3 mystic dolls that were mentioned above, as well as an Allize Volew Medicine Bag obtained from the higher level mystics near Cazic Thule. Turn these in to Zulort in the Shaman guild for:

http://zam.zamimg.com/images/4/9/497af51ff9169d598b9831e2d25cdfa3.png

Lizard Tails
Appropriate Race(s): Ogre, Troll
Appropriate Class(es): Any
Appropriate Level: 10+

Higher level lizardman warriors and mystics can be found in the Feerrott around Cazic Thule and Rathe Mountains, as well as in the Rathe Mountains themself. These drop tails; turn in 1 to Horgus in the Warrior Guild for a piece of rawhide armor. It's slightly better and more valuable than tattered/patchwork. Or you can turn in 4 to Grevak in the Shadow Knight guild for some various items. I haven't actually done this 2nd quest myself due to rarity of the tails, so if anyone attempts this let me know what you receive on Project 1999. On live you were better off handing them in to Horgus.

Zimbittle
Approrpriate Races: Ogre, Troll
Appropriate Class(es): Any
Appropriate Level: 10

This is mainly a shaman quest and a poor one at that, but I suppose other classes may be able to do it for a small profit. Kill this bitch in Innothule Swamp (warning: you lose Troll guard faction) and turn in her pouch to Marda in the Shaman Guild for a couple low level spells.

http://zam.zamimg.com/images/i/d/id1733.png

Emissary Glib
Appropriate Race(s): Ogre, Troll *
Appropriate Class(es): Any
Appropriate Level: 15+

Go to Innothule and search for the Slayer Captain:

http://zam.zamimg.com/images/i/d/id3810.png

He's usually found around Guk. Just kill stuff until he spawns, it may take awhile. Kill him and loot his Frog Eye Necklace. Although your main target isn't the regular troll slayers, they are most likely a PH and you should keep their necklaces as well. Go back to Oggok, to the Shaman guild and tell Marda 'secret mission.' Now, head to the guard tower right before you zone out and find Emissary Glib at the very top. Hand him your Frog Eye Necklaces. The ones from the regular troll slayers will only net you experience and some coin, however you can get some very nice items from the Slayer Captain's necklace. Your goal is this thing:

http://zam.zamimg.com/images/7/c/7cbb24d6786d166af22f3036d82e6e8e.png

Some trivia: this thing was one of the best bags in Classic due to a bug. Normally if you put a 10 pound item in a 50% weight reduction bag, your weight would go from say 150 to 155. Due to a classic bug, it actually subtracted the reduction straight from your starting weight; in this case you'd go from 150 to 145 by placing a 10 pound item in the bag. Alas, it works bugfree on Project 1999 ;)

Other rewards range from junk (rusty halberds) to sellables (Short Sword) to this thing:

Hopper Spear
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM
Slot: PRIMARY
Skill: Piercing Atk Delay: 31
DMG: 5
STR: +4
WT: 5.0 Size: MEDIUM
Class: WAR RNG SHD BRD ROG SHM
Race: ALL except HIE

It's basically a magic Bronze Spear. Interesting for a new character but generally not very good for the difficulty of this quest.

* One final note, there's a way to do this quest with good characters if you're desperate for that bag. Log your main out at the top of the guard tower, and then log in a level 1 ogre shaman to say the secret mission phrase to Marda. Log back in to your main, and do the turn in to Emissary Glib. He should be indifferent to all.

Update: Bubbles has provided an additional way for someone with bad Oggok faction to obtain a Forager Bag, as well as bringing up the valid point that the Slayer Captain necklaces are not NO DROP, allowing you to hand them off to someone else once you receive your (Lore) bag:

You do *not* need to have a higher 'rank' shaman to talk to Marda to spawn Glib'... You can do it on a KOS toon with invis (nothing in the entire city of oggok between zone in and shaman guild sees invis).. Simply /target Marda and say 'Where is Emissary Glib?' and he will spawn on the top of the bouncer tower at the Oggok Zone in. So you can have a necro or druid or dress-wearing buddy invis over to marda and spawn him for you to do the hand ins.

Other key point : The necklace dropped by the Troll Captains in Innothule Swamp are *tradeable* so you can farm them on another character and simply trade them to the person you want to get the bag.

In my experience, you get a bag every 3rd or 4th turn in, so it's good to load up on necklaces.. As a bonus, you can turn around and hand any necklaces you have left over after you achieve a forager bag to the next person, who can then try and get a bag, too. But it goes without saying that you'll want a good 4-5 necklaces on your person to make *sure* you get a bag for your efforts. The Hopper/Junk is a far more common quest reward.

Nobles
Appropriate Race(s): Ogre, Troll
Appropriate Class(es): Any
Appropriate Level: 15-20ish solo

Don't go out of your way to complete this one, but if you come across Gwynn Marthank, Hogus Durmas, Jars Legola, or Rell Ostodl in Innothule Swamp (they hang around Guk usually) kill them and loot their crests. Turn one in to Guntrik in the Warrior Guild for a bronze weapon or a crude stein for some extra plat. If you get any high elf or human flesh (not meat or parts) from them, turn it in to Chef Dooga for a little bit of coin.

Gatorsmash Maul
Approriate Race(s): Ogre, Troll
Appropriate Class(es): Shaman, Shadow Knight, Warrior
Appropriate Level: 25ish, possibly with friends.

First you need to kill Ambassador K`ryn in Oggok. He spawns at the 2 on the map. He always spawns at 9 am and despawns 2 hours later and always drops a Dragoon Dirk, but the Black Heart required for the quest is not a guaranteed drop. An Oggok guard despawns in this spot as K`ryn spawns, and it may be possible to kill him twice in one game day if you're fast enough. The courier quest from Neriak requires a turn in with this guy if you want to do that as well. Anyways, he's about level 25. Then travel to Crushbone and kill Ambassador DVinn who spawns at the top of the tower in the castle. He's about level 20. He sometimes drops a Dragoon Dirk and always a Black Heart (confirmation? thought the black hearts were 100% drop on live but it appears K`ryn's is somewhat rare here). Bring both hearts to Lork at 18 on the map to possibly receive a nice weapon:

Gatorsmash Maul
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM
Slot: PRIMARY
Skill: 2H Blunt Atk Delay: 70
DMG: 30
WT: 8.8 Size: LARGE
Class: WAR CLR SHD SHM
Race: BAR TRL OGR IKS

You may get some patchwork armor or a Crude Stein instead, but you can repeat the quest.

Thanks to canardvc for some additional information on K`ryn.

The trick with the Gatorsmash maul is to equip a Crude Stein before you do the final turn in and you will get the maul instead.

What you have in your inventory never has nor ever will affect the reward you receive in any era of EverQuest. This is an old wives tale. If you have a lore item and receive an identical lore item from a quest NPC you will get the standard "cannot have duplicate lore items" and the reward will poof. Please do not add misinformation to my thread. Thank you.

Going to post every single worthwhile quest in the game eventually, but something came up halfway through Qeynos. For example, Stein of Moggok is technically an Oggok quest but since Ogres can't normally complete it I've already got it written up under a Miscellaneous or class-based section.

Awesome, thanks for posting this. I much prefer actual questing to camping/buying stuff in EC.

I miss the pain of the newbie armor quests, and would like something similar to do with my baby Enc. :D

K'ryn spawns at 9AM and he shares the same spawn with the guard. When one spawns the other unspawns. 2 hours up seem to be correct, You should be able to kill him twice an in-game day, if you kill him fast. Dragoon Dirk is 100% drop, got the heart on 8th try

Just curious if this is a topic in a line of others that are already created or some to come? I just restarted yesterday and have browsed over Allakhazam but if there is something here I wouldn't mind taking a gander at it.

Ty in advance.

This is a stand alone guide and a very good one. There are a bunch more guides on the wiki:

Thanks for the additional information guys, I'll edit the Oggok guide.

More to come soon. Other zones generally have way more quests than Oggok.

This just made me laugh. So I used to keep all my computer guides like my FF8 players guide for PS2 and what not. I turn around and above all of my college books on the shelf I see a players guide for none other than: Everquest: The Ruins of Kunark. This book has to be 10+ years old and still in pretty damn good shape.

See how many ogre quests involve their rivalry with Trolls? This is why on "classic" troll SK's are threatening to the shaman and warriors in Oggock. (and why im anxious to see faction made as authentic as possible on p99)

Love how quests/faction/world/lore all mesh together to make EQ feel like a real world.

Bone Chips & Healing
Appropriate Race(s): Any
Appropriate Class(es): Any
Appropriate Level: 1

Bone Chip quests exist all over Norrath and this is one of them. Give 2 bone chips -or- 2 gold to Lashun Novashine outside the gates of North Qeynos for some experience and healing. This quest is pretty bad and only worth doing if you need the faction or healing.

Shining Star of Light
Appropriate Race(s): Any
Appropriate Class(es): Cleric, Paladin
Appropriate Level: 1

This quest is for a decent weapon as long as you don't mind a bit of running around. All you need is 30 gold, and then head over to Rivervale. Kill bixies in misty thicket or kithicor (daytime only) until you collect 3 honeycombs. Turn in 3 honeycombs + 30 gold to Kizzie Mintopp at -231, -207 in Rivervale to receive some Honey Jum. Return to Qeynos and give the Honey Jum to Astaed Wemor in the Temple of Life (Rodcet Nife guild). He gives you a potion, take it to Lempeck Hargrim in West Karana at -3895,-5586. He gives you a No Drop scythe, return this to Astaed Wemor for:

http://zam.zamimg.com/images/5/a/5a1941898ece5073706c27ceb4302baa.png

The proc is a 5 point heal that removes 1 poison and disease counter.

Note: On live/classic, Lempeck would attack you if you tried to give him the potion at night (he's a lycanthrope). It's unknown if this is implemented on Project 1999 or if he'll always accept the potion and relinquish the scythe.

Another Note: The Cleanse effect on the Shining Star of Light used to be limited charges but was changed to a proc at some point (Luclin or so?). However I believe the proc version is what's available on Project 1999. Not even going to bother reporting this because it's stupid to not be a proc.

Another Another Note: The Shining Star of Light is 2 delay faster than a Fine Steel Warhammer, is magic, and has a proc, so it's a decent little quest for a new character as it doesn't really require much besides a few hours of your time running around.

Band of Rodcent Nife
Appropriate Race(s): Any
Appropriate Class(es): Warrior, Cleric, Paladin, Ranger, Druid, Monk, Bard, Rogue, Wizard, Magician, Enchanter

New character? Want some free loot? Despite what your main is, camp him out by the pool under the Rodcet Nife Guild (UFO). create a level 1 human Shadow Knight and HT one of the Koalindl in the pool. Camp out and log back into your main and loot the fish. Turn this into Enric Ruklin in the guild for:

http://zam.zamimg.com/images/7/9/790b5dc6ab3fd9642496c7c12d7b285b.png

-or-

Prayer Beads
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM
Slot: NECK
Charges: 2
Effect: Healing (Any Slot, Casting Time: Instant)
WT: 0.2 Size: SMALL
Class: WAR CLR PAL RNG DRU MNK BRD ROG WIZ MAG ENC
Race: ALL

Note: The beads used to have more charges, but were nerfed. I believe the 2 charge nerfed version is what Project 1999 is using.

Do this quest! It's quick, easy, painless, and nets you a very very nice ring if you're a caster. Regardless of who you are, the 175 point right click heal will save your life considering it'll be a complete heal for a few levels. You can give the Beads to Tyoken Mekase + 10 platinum, or you can just destroy your beads and spend a minute re-running this quest. They never decreased the cost of the recharge when they nerfed the charges and it's just not worth it when Koalindl are so easy to slay. The reason you use a mule is because you absolutely do not want the faction hit from killing the fish. You mule will become very KoS very fast, but you can always delete and recreate.

Lost Monk
Appropriate Race(s): Any
Appropriate Class(es): Any (Faction, benefits Monks mostly)
Appropriate Level: 1

Go to the Monk Guild and tell Phin Esrinap "Where is Konem?" Take the note he gives you to Konem Matse in Qeynos Hills, I believe by the guard Tower. Return the note he gives you back to Phin Esrinep. Each turn in nets you a water flask, experience and:

Your faction standing with Silent Fist Clan got better.
Your faction standing with Guards of Qeynos got better.
Your faction standing with Ashen Order got better.

Rabid Animals
Appropriate Races: Any
Appropriate Class(es): Any
Appropriate Level: 4+

If you started in Qeynos you're lucky, because this is one of the best quests in the game. You should be in Qeynos Hills as soon as you can kill gnolls and the diseased wolves. There are 2 diseased wolves that roam a bit on the western side of Qeynos Hills. One usually hangs a little further north closer to the lake but not quite to it, the other is a little closer usually in the mountain region just west of the little house with a merchant. Kill these as many times as you can and loot all the pelts you can as well as 1 fleshy orb (it's lore). If you're not a pet class you'll most likely contract rabies but don't worry about it. When you're high enough (8-12ish depending on class), you can take out the rabid grizzly that roams around the Blackburrow area. Relieve it of its pelt as well. These mobs respawn just as quickly as anything else in the zone and have no PHs. Collect as many of these pelts as you possibly can and return to Priestess Caulria in the UFO (Temple of Life). She will reward about 2 platinum for each wolf pelt, and a scroll of Endure Disease for the grizzly pelt (sells for about 2 platinum). The experience you gain for each turn in is great as well. As far as those rabies, she'll cure it if you turn in any of the pelts. If you got a Shining Star of Light, 1 proc from that will cure Rabies as well. Finally, the fleshy orb can be turned in for even more experience and coin. Bank the fleshy orb she returns to you - it's a different item so you can keep turning in the ones from the wolves. Once you end up in Freeport grab the quest reward fleshy orb from your back and turn it in to Lorme, the Wizard GM at the very top of the caster's academy in West Freeport. You'll receive a random fine steel weapon for even more money. These 3 related quests are absolutely huge, you'll fly through levels and start banking some serious coin.

Black Leather Cloak
Appropriate Race(s): Any for faction, but see note
Appropriate Class(es): Any for faction, but see note
Appropriate Level: 1 for faction, 20+ for reward

This quest starts in the Rogue Guild, tell Knargon Lanenda 'what is the shipment' for a bent playing card. These aren't lore so keep repeating the phrase (shift-up arrow) and fill up your inventory with cards. Leave the Qeynos gates and hang a right, you should see a Dark Elf named Jracol Brestiage. Hand him the cards for a note. Now, these quest guides don't focus on factions at all but this one is interesting because you get the following faction hits for handing in the card:

Your faction standing with Carson McCabe got better.
Your faction standing with Highpass Guards got better.
Your faction standing with Merchants of Highpass got better.
Your faction standing with Coalition of Tradefolk Underground got better.
Your faction standing with Ring of Scale got worse.

You might as well power level these factions because it takes like 10-15 seconds to run a shipment of cards back and forth from Knargon and Jracol. This way you can easily max out 4 factions without any risk or effort at all. This alone makes this quest pretty nice, especially for rogues or characters who plan on adventuring into Highkeep.

Anyways, you can destroy all those notes that Jracol gives you. Otherwise you can turn it in to Knargon Lanenda for some faction hits that are different but not quite as positive as the bent card bit:

Your faction standing with Circle Of Unseen Hands got better.
Your faction standing with Merchants of Qeynos got worse.
Your faction standing with Corrupt Qeynos Guards got better.
Your faction standing with Guards of Qeynos got worse.
Your faction standing with Kane Bayle got better.

This whole part is completely unneccessary for the final reward but again, the factions are nice. Your next goal is to kill Guard Stald in High Pass, you can find him near the Tiger's Roar by the gates. Kill him and loot his badge, and turn it in to Prak at the Golden Rooster tavern. He gives you a note in return, bring this back to Zannsin.

Note: There's been two different versions of this item. Originally the stats were:

Black Leather Cloak
Slot: BACK
AC: 1
DEX: +2 AGI: +2
WT: 0.0 Size: MEDIUM
Class: ALL
Race: ALL

It was changed to:

Black Leather Cloak
Slot: BACK
AC: 1
DEX: +2 AGI: +2
WT: 1.0 Size: MEDIUM
Class: WAR SHD BRD ROG
Race: ALL except DWF TRL OGR HFL GNM

I'm not sure which version Project 1999 rewards. I assume the latter, ymmv.

Great guide, might want to edit the "shit-uparrow" part though ;)

Intentional, this quest requires the shit-up arrow.

I would love to hear more about newbie qeynos questing. I always liked that town but started in Kelethin back on live. Currently I am a level 2 newb in Qeynos reliving the classic magic!

Flippin awesome stuff. Definitely Wiki material - probably deserves its own section - "Quest Guides by City"

---> http://www.angelfire.com/bc/brentcopeland/eqquests.html <---

far as i can tell this site is all prekunark quests. Some of the info is a little garbled because it was just one guy compiling it all but has newbie quests for just about every starting city.

Enjoy.
