option B-
2.8 ghz i7 with 4 gb ram

I7 has much more processors speed
And in the future you can always upgrade the Ram to 8gig or more, just make sure the latop/desktop doesn't have an integrated graphics, anything ATI or Nvidia. 1.0 or 1.5 at best for laptops.

With that it would run Eq easy, other newer 3d games would have to run at the lowest settings. -bump-

depends what you're using it for
video games the 400 Mhz difference won't give you all that much of a performance difference, whereas the 4gb memory difference in most cases would give a nice boost.
but u can upgrade ram and it's relatively cheap, so if the prices are pretty similar on both I'd probably go with the i7
if price gap is large and the laptop is for gaming, I'd consider the i5

bought i7. plan is now to buy squaretrade warranty with accidental coverage and a year or two from now when i am rdy for new laptop dump a cup of water on computer
