I had a long hard think about this and the obvious was apparent. Only charmed humanoids (undead) or elementals should be able to use weapons handed to them. Shaman pets did not pierce/slash/crush/whatever when handed weapons on live. Similarly, you shouldn't be able to charm a shadow wolf and hand it a sword and have it slash. Since you don't slash/crush/pierce you also should not be able to proc.

Inb4 I won't be grouping with charmed animals/shaman pets with mage swords before this is fixed. Cuz I will be :).

Yes they did. NPC wielding only checks class, not race. That's why mage weapons are race none, and why snakes can kick.

I agree with snake kick and race none.

I just never remember a shaman pet with mage swords or even when given a weapon "slashing" instead of biting. For instance, did a darkweed snake on live pierce when it had a fang? Maybe so. But I remember the mage pet swords being all the rage back when and shaman pets didn't work. Hence why I make this post.

It's a difference in live code to emu code. Here, weapon types take precedence over hit types. For example, spectres will slash instead of slice, when wielding a scythe, which is virtually always. Minor bug in text display.

Animals shouldn't be procing or able to hit more than twice a round if given weapons. AKA a griffon with 2 FS daggers shouldn't dual wield, only double attack. They certainly also should not proc.

Another memory from Grandfather Nirgon that history never recorded.
