We were granted our IP exemption, but we still can't log on together... what should we do?

Be more specific so that someone could potentially help you.

We petitioned for an exemption. It was granted earlier in the week and moved the resolved petitions forum, but we still can't log 2 accounts on at the same time. He works 3rd shift, so we didn't actually try to log on together until today. He was logged in and we tried to log me on and it still gives the IP block message.

Are you sure you used the exactly correct account names and such when you posted for the exemption?

Yes. We requested it for boyfriend's account, his brother's, and mine as we all used to game together periodically, often from our house with other games. We can't log on any combination of the accounts together.

I guess start another thread in the petition forum then, unless someone else here has better advice.
Sorry :(

That's ok. Thanks for trying though!

Did you check your IP when you submitted the exemption? If so- is it still the same IP? Sometimes you may periodically get a new one from your ISP. This would cause the exemption to become moot.

No, I didn't check come to think of it. The modem hasn't been reset since then though and we've never had that happen before... I'll make note of it now though, just in case!

If nothing else works (or you run low on patience) and either of you has a smartphone, you can actually just use it to tether your PC to your phone's IP. You can play right next to each other if one of you is on the home IP and the other on a smartphone's IP. Not sure if this is frowned upon by the server staff.. but just don't box and I don't really see a problem.

That's a thought.... Not sure if my data plan is big enough to do it though.

EQ is pretty light on the data. Played on a Virgin Mobile card and had no issue whatsoever.

I only get 250 MB a month for data. Don't use it much, so I don't need any more than that

I think I played EQ for about 4 hours using my phone's connection while I was on the road over Christmas-time, and it used like 20 megs. I was also using the forums and p1999 wiki and such during that time, but not too heavily.

The exemptions are not based off IP. Due to the fack they can change. The exemptions are tied to the account name. If 2 account have exemptions you can goto any IP and log both of them in.

Before we got our exemption I used my phone on 10+ hour binges. It still wasn't over 100 MB/s.
Also suggest switching to Sprint. I use on average 3 GB's per month. But then again unlimited plans are vanishing. Sprints will too i time.

I share a plan with a family member, but my data is separate. I live out in the boonies (well, boonies for me anyway... kind of a city dweller-type personally) and Sprint gets no service here. Also not sure if my phone will support it?

Andriods all should work with a free app for USB tether. You would need to grant yourself Admin/Superuser permissions to use the hotspot tether without the increased data charges.

My phone is an earlier type smartphone. I haven't upgraded to a droid or iPhone yet... mostly because I have 3 children and a touch screen scares the daylights out of me :P

It actually has nothing to do w/ you IP address. One of the account names you submitted got the "IP exemption". That account and only that account can be logged in at the same time another. If you tried to log in two accounts and one of them wasn't the exempt one then you would be getting this problem.

We submitted all 3 accounts that log on from our house in the exemption. Just doesn't work yet :( I don't know how to use my phone's net connection with my computer, so I guess we wait!
