View Full Version : [GUIDE] Using Luclin character models in P99

Ive received some PMs here asking me how to use Luclin models, probably due to the screenshots I posted in another thread, so I think its a good idea to post the instructions here for more people to see it.
Firstly I'll like to clarify that I take no credit from this. Danyelle is the one who discovered how to use Luclin models.
Instructions on how to use Luclin models is found here: http://vp1999.forumotion.com/t10-luclin-models-on-project-1999
Using the Luclin models not only grants you more faces to choose from, there are now more options in facial customization (as seen in my screenshot below).
Besides that, it enables high res character armor as well, so your armors will look much better than before.
Ive tested it using Titanium client and it works as intended. Do note that if you are running an "EQ LITE" version of Titanium, it will not work, as the necessary files are missing from the Lite client.
After making the changes, you can change your character face via the "FACE" icon in Inventory window. Additionally, when you create a new character, you will get to the new model selection screen as below:

my guess is incoming nerf to disable this

why disable it its a optional setting let people play how they want imo

Because it's not classic.

Because it's not classic.
Is duxa UI classic?
Is Velious high res graphics mod classic?
Since those arent classic, why are they allowed?
Using Luclin model is similar to using a non classic UI, or a high res zone graphics mod. Its all a personal preference to enhance your own gaming experience, a decision which does not affects gameplay at all.
Now compared to the removal of night blindness, removal of spellbook meditation for low level casters, pets not holding agro and many other gaming differences, these affects gameplay but are not present in P99.
P99 is NOT a 100% classic server, I wonder why some people still dont get it. P99 serves to give us the classic experience of EQ, but it doesnt necessary mean the server has to 100% emulate what EQ was back then. Changes can be made (and IMO should be made, to enhance certain aspect without compromising the classic experience)
If a client mod like Luclin models arent allowed, I guess we should ban Duxa and any non classic UI mods as well as any graphic mods.

Well now that the secret is out they should sticky this so people have a choice.

Using Luclin models also grants you access to high res armor. Here's a picture of my druid in Tattered leather (looks MUCH better in game. Saving it to jpeg reduces the quality alot). Im new to P99, untwinked and dont have any high level characters, those of you with high end gears will see significantly better armor graphics.
A combination of Luclin character models + high res Velious graphics mod will significantly improve the overall graphics of Everquest in P99.
And remember, you can change your character's face anytime by clicking the face icon in Inventory window.

i think it's fair to provide people with options, for those who use the argument "it's not classic" can take that argument.... yep :)

I agree, I think people should be able to do this so long as we all agree to never use the Troll Luclin models.

The whole "they just pick and choose classic things so why not this" argument is really annoying. They literally can not change certain things because they simply don't have the means. It's not as if all of the code for the entire game is just in some EQCODE.TXT file and they can change literally anything they want. If that were the case, we would not have starry sky graphics and those weird gigantic boats. I also don't think they have the ability to make the client disallow custom UI's, so that's why they're "allowed". How would they ever detect them?
This whole thing is a ton of work for the devs, and they've provided *as close* to a classic experience as they have the means to. I personally don't like the idea of other people running around seeing luclin models for everything. Yes it's petty and selfish, but little things like that dilute the classic experience. In classic, I didn't have the concern that group member A and group member B are seeing completely different versions of my character.

honestly, you'll never know who's using it and who isn't, so it shouldn't bother you mr douglas :) see you have a preference to see your characters in classic, others, well they may decide they want to see luclin models.

I didn't even know someone made a separate thread. Hah
Anyway let me start this by saying yes I take credit for discovering this. If you're going to display hate towards anyone for the discovery of Luclin models on P99 direct it towards me not Galaa. To make it easier for you to hate me i use a pony avatar (my name in game is Rainbowdash. have fun with it. I usually go by Miku but it was apparently taken) and i'm going on record as stating I actually liked Space Cats: The Expansion (aka Luclin) and don't feel EQ Live died until GoD although PoK ports were a large step in the wrong direction.
Now that I've branded myself a heretic fit only to be burned on the cross by this community for sharing a differing opinion I'll continue. While the argument of "They haven't turned it off because they haven't figured out how yet" is very much valid and I recognize it, i provide a counter-argument. The UI. Yes there is a Velious UI but is it required? Nope. Optional. And from what I've seen most people don't use it. Secondly take a look around you at how many "non-classic things" the devs have, apparently judging by the stickies, supported. Graphical enhancements, Luclin/Modern spell gems etc etc. Is this any different than a spell gem? In addition only a fool would disable the ability to make a choice unless that choice infringed upon others by making it visible to all or gave that character an unfair advantage over others who choose different choices. Last I checked using Luclin models doesn't make you able to solo Trakanon nor does it allow you to glitch through walls or walk past KoS mobs. And if you are actually mentally harmed by another person making a decision or even the thought of it (But THEY will see me as Luclin even though I won't WAAAAA) you seriously need to take a step back and look at how seriously you're taking this game.
Now if the devs decide to make a patch that prevents connecting with this GlobalLoad so be it. (Although you wanna talk about wasting time that could be devoted to developing....) All i'm saying is until that time, should it arise, the only one making any decisions are the people choosing to use these models and, from your end, you will never know.
-Danyelle: the heretic for liking Space Cats: The Expansion.

Like the luclin models, but sadly it seems to cause issues for me with duxa's ui :(
Hmm what are the issues? I'll see if i can find the cause and possibly some form of fix.
Also since this is apparently the new thread, moving an update post I made to here:
Besides the wolf thing, which may or may not ever come to fruition, i'm also working on trying to see if I can get a method of having some elementals loaded and not others. Also testing texture maps between Classic and Luclin. Got it to the point I have put the entire Classic Dark Elf Female Leather texture onto the Luclin model properly minus the chest. With Classic the chest texture was simply that, the chest (and neck). With Luclin it's divided up into the chest, neck and collarbone. So breaking the old Chest texture down and aligning them properly is being a bitch. The hands and feet are also rather annoying. Velious armors are actually already at Luclin resolution the issues would be getting them on the model. Dropping them, remapped of course, into the Luclin files won't cut it. It won't recognize them. Sony on the other hand already started a function to load Velious armors on the Luclin models but they half assed it and quit (LoadVeliousArmorsWithLuclin=TRUE in the eqclient.ini if anyone wants to look at it.). The pants are the only texture that loads properly everything else fucks up. Finishing what they started would take some time though. At some point I hope to get a hold of someone with actual artistic/Photoshop talent to completely rebuild the Classic textures in Luclin level resolution and I can remap them from there. We'll see how it goes. And last but not least I'm trying to work on an installer that would help streamline this fix a bit (let you select which races/genders to turn on, select or deselect elementals, patch the globalload to P99, remove or not remove unneeded clutter in the globalload etc) but haven't gotten around to it yet and most likely won't until I figure out where I'm going with the above projects. Would also need to find a good way of going about it anyway as a batch file wouldn't really give me the customization I wanted in the setup, though it would certainly be quick and easy.
I'll keep everyone updated but for now the plain Luclin model fix is still on this thread:
http://vp1999.forumotion.com/t10-luc...n-project-1999
Oh by the way a reminder as someone said before, if you use the Lite client from elsewhere on these forums you won't have the Luclin models in the folder anymore. If that's the case the above fix does NOTHING. It only changes what order models get loaded in to overwrite the Classic models with Luclin and bypass the expansion variable in the database. Without the files actually there nothing will happen. If you use the Lite client I recommend finding a full version of the Titanium, SoD, Underfoot or any other client and dragging and dropping the files listed in Globalload in that link.
-Danyelle/Rainbowdash
Also in response to something Grozmok said about the newer client enhanced graphics:
I'm surprised no one has posted those up anywhere yet.
I thought about it but that's a LOT of files lol. Also now that I dug around think someone already did:
http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2482
The newer clients, by default, look like that so I'm thinking it's the same patch it's just with newer clients it comes standard

Thanks Danyelle for your efforts in these.
I started EQ in 1999 but am quite fond of Luclin models, with their high res armors. I'm glad that there's now an option to use it :)
@Xanthis
I'm using duxa ui as well, didn't encounter any issues at all.

This file replacement gets rid of buff timers for me. Any way to fix this?
Danyelle
02-28-2012, 04:26 AM
Yeah that's odd, the globalload shouldn't interfere with the UI or the bufftimers.
Ok what I need from you two is a copy of your globalload (since i said you can customize it I need to see how it looks) then a screenshot of what the issue is if possible and a walkthrough of how you set this up. I'll figure it out from there :)
I really should get on an installer sooner rather than later...lol

im using Titanium client with duxa UI, no issues with timers and buffs though.
Did u try with default UI and see if the problem still persists?
Side note: Did u login into EQ using EQemu? I noticed that EQ emu will do some changes to certain files.
I login using eqgame.exe

Because this is a commi server you guys. If I don't want something on the server, well than clearly no one else should be able to have it. This doesn't effect game play what so ever, but I have to live knowing someone else might see me as a Luclin model and not a classic.
I support Luclin models.

Luclin Models Guide 2.4
This guide will involve COMPLETELY rebuilding the Global Load.txt file piece by piece. I will be as detailed as possible but please be sure to follow the instructions very very very carefully. Eventually I will get a patcher of sorts set up but for now the guide is all I can provide.
NOTE: Things highlighted in red are NOT optional. Things highlighted in green are optional.
Each Section is a different step. Let's begin :)
1: Setting up the File
Navigate to Globalload.txt in your Resources folder in your Everquest directory. Delete EVERYTHING from inside this file so that it is a blank .txt document.
2: Starting to build the File
Add the following to the top:
1,1,TFFF,GlobalFroglok_chr,Loading Classic Froglok
1,1,TFFT,GlobalPCFroglok_chr,Loading Guktan
1,1,TFFF,frogequip,Loading Guktan Parts
1,1,TFFT,GlobalSKE_chr2,Loading Froglok
1,1,TFFF,GlobalDRK_chr,Loading Froglok
1,1,TFFF,Global_obj,Loading Character Equipment Files
1,1,TFTF,GEquip,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,GEquip8,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,GEquip2,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,grass,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,GEquip4,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,GEquip3,Loading Character Equipment Files
3: Adding Later Expansion Item Graphics
Some GM's have items equipped that use graphics outside the Classic-Velious era (For example Amelinda apparently has the Monk 2.0 equipped on one or more of her GM toons). While it is highly unlikely any player will get their hands on these items, if you desire to see if a GM has them or if you simply want them loaded "just in case" add the following lines next:
2,0,TFFF,loyequip,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,ldonequip,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,gatesequip,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,omensequip.eqg,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,donequip.eqg,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,dodequip.eqg,Loading Character Equipment Files
4: Adding the Luclin Races
Add the races you want In this order.
NOTE: At one point way back during Luclin's release, and for awhile afterwards, you HAD to have Human males/females loaded in order to use Erudites and Wood Elf males/females loaded in order to use High Elves, Half Elves and Dark Elves. I do not know if this is still the case but if you run into animation issues where a model is stiff then keep this in mind.
NOTE 2: You must add the races in the order presented below and the files in the order listed. Meaning do not flip a file line above another or load a race before another race in this list. For example. If human lines were listed as:
1,1,TFFT,load human model 2,Etc Etc
1,1,TFFT,load human model,Etc Etc
you must add the files in that order to the Globalload. NOT "load human model 2" after "load human model". Even if it makes sense numerically. Also if Human is listed before Dark Elf in the list below you can not load Dark Elf before human. Order is VERY important for this.

5. Vah Shir
While I'm not sure if it's necessary or not I did this anyway and since it hurts nothing to load it, considering the Guktan Froglok is loaded as well anyway, you may as well load it. Add this below the Iksar Race (Or whatever was the last Luclin race you decided to load)
1,1,TFFT,globalKEM_chr2,Loading Vah Shir
1,1,TFFT,globalKEM_chr,Loading Vah Shir
1,1,TFFF,VEquip,Loading Vah Shir Parts

3,0,TFFF,Global5_chr2,Loading Elementals and Horses
3,0,TFFF,Global5_chr,Loading Elementals and Horses
6. Elementals
Elementals MUST be turned on via eqclient.ini
UseLuclinElementals=TRUE
No other Luclin models in eqclient.ini must be set to TRUE. Only Elementals if you want them.
7. Luclin Model Armor Files
Add this below the Vah Shir. You MUST have this loaded, in this order, to use any Luclin models.
1,1,TFFF,LGEquip_amr2,Loading Armor Files
1,1,TFFF,LGEquip_amr,Loading Armor Files
1,1,TFFF,LGEquip2,Loading Armor Files
1,1,TFFF,LGEquip,Loading Armor Files
8. Adding Later Expansion Global Races
By default, Titanium comes with several races loaded from later expansions (mostly revamped models from Depths of Darkhollow) that you will never see legitimately on Project 1999 but that the devs never removed from GlobalLoad. GM's often use them during GM events (like in East Commonlands or The Arena) or anywhere a GM may be. Turning players and NPCs into these races. While they will never be seen beyond these 'events' you may choose to have them on in case of such an event. If so, add the following lines next (They are labeled if you choose to cut ones you don't like out):
3,0,TFFF,gbn.eqg,Loading DoN Goblin
3,0,TFFF,wwf.eqg,Loading DoDH Werewolf
3,0,TFFF,kbd.eqg,Loading DoDH Kobold
3,0,TFFF,fng.eqg,Loading DoDH Sporali
3,0,TFFF,ork.eqg,Loading DoDH Orc
3,0,TFFF,ggy.eqg,Loading DoDH Gargoyle
3,0,TFFF,eve.eqg,Loading DoDH Evil Eye
3,0,TFFF,mnr.eqg,Loading Omens Minotaur
3,0,TFFF,zmm.eqg,Loading DoDH Zombie
3,0,TFFF,fry.eqg,Loading DoDH Fairy
3,0,TFFF,cwr.eqg,Loading Roboboar
3,0,TFFF,bas.eqg,Loading DoDH Basilisk
3,0,TFFF,rap_chr,Loading Kunark Raptor
3,0,TFFF,skt_chr,Loading LDoN Skeleton
9. Luclin Skeletons and Wolves
If you desire the Luclin Skeletons or Wolves back here is the change required. But first read below:
NOTES: Before doing this be aware of the following:
1. Skeletons will NOT animate without Luclin human male's loaded. They will be stiff with their arms out at their side
2. Luclin wolves are larger than Classic wolves. Since all wolf models on Project 1999 are built around the Classic wolf then if you load the Luclin Wolves they will all show up about double the size of a normal wolf (regular wolves in East Commonlands for example will be about the height of a human). This can NOT be changed without editing the size of the model and redistributing a new wolf model file.
and lastly
3. You can NOT load only Skeletons or Wolves and leave the other as Classic. As of right now it's a package deal. I'm working on a fix but as it stands it would require ripping the race components out of the file and building a separate file for Skeletons and Wolves. You're going to have to deal with both or neither for now.
If the above is still tolerable add the following line below the Armor Files:
4,0,TFFF,Global6_chr,Loading Luclin Beastlord Pack
Then download the .rar file found here (http://www.mediafire.com/?w6130cc6uj6dp8z).
Extract the contents to your desktop and follow the included readme. (You only need to do this if you are setting up to use Luclin Skeletons/Wolves or if you are switching BACK to Classic from Luclin Skeleton/Wolves). This will fix the texture problems with Luclin Skeletons that occurs when you see a skeleton that ordinarily would have been the second 'brown' texture.
10. Filling in models and Items
Add the following after the Skeletons/Wolves (or the Armor Files if you chose not to use the Skeletons/Wolves)
3,0,TFFF,Global4_chr,Loading Characters
3,1,TFFF,Global_chr,Loading Characters
4,0,TFFF,Global2_chr,Loading Global Items and Equipment
4,0,TFFF,Global3_chr,Loading Global Items and Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,GEquip5,Loading Character Equipment Files
11. Old Skeletons and Wolves
If you chose not to use the Luclin Skeletons or Wolves you will need to add the following two lines at the very bottom of the file in order to get the Classic models for both to animate properly:
1,0,TFFF,growthplane_chr,Loading Plane of Growth Races
1,0,TFFF,karnor_chr,Loading Karnors Castle Races
NOTE: You may choose to load the above files even with Luclin Skeletons/Wolves loaded as GM's sometimes use the races from these two zones in GM events similar to the revamped DoDH models from an earlier step (Bort uses Unicorns from PoGrowth a lot for example). This is, of course, entirely up to you.
FINISH:
You should now be finished. Save the file. If you were already in-game you must log out and then back in for changes to take effect. For comparison purposes (and for the lazy) I have put up a couple of GlobalLoad.txt files. These both include every Luclin race mnius the Skeletons/Wolves. The first is the "light" version. The second is the "default" version.
Lazy Load One (Contains all Luclin races mnius Skeletons/Wolves. Unnecessary races and item loads have been stripped for loading purposes and a lighter load. Many of these races and files are likely stripped from your client if you use the Light Client anyway.):

When I tried to target something all I got was the color con in my target window not the name, as well as graphics in my inventory were white boxes instead of items.
Also it seemed to cause my computer to lock up.
I'll try it again maybe was a one time bug.

Hmm kk if something does go wrong go into your Logs folder and pm me a copy of dbg.txt (Don't log out then back on before sending it to me, it'll wipe it and rewrite it)
I use default UI (with P99 changes of course) so haven't tested it with other UIs. It shouldn't affect the User Interface at all though so leads me to believe something else is going on.

If you're missing the hover over names/timers, restart your computer once in a while. that was posted a while back in tech discussion as a known issue, and works for me every time.

Out of curiosity....I suspect there are practical advantages to Luclin models, especially Ogre/Troll models. I'm finding that it's easier to navigate tight quarters as Luclin model but perhaps I'm imaging things.
Danyelle
03-02-2012, 04:16 AM
They're all the same height in fact if anything Luclin may be a tiny bit taller across all races. Ogre.Troll DO have smaller sideways size though. about 2/3rds i wanna say the Classic size.

The sideways factor helps.

why disable it its a optional setting let people play how they want imo
The devs didn't disable it, they're disabled automatically as a result of setting the expansion count to kunark. It would be truer to say that they didn't go out of their way to enable it, which they shouldn't be expected to do.

^^This
Which I did for them! haha. Because it's not classic so they can't be expected to waste time doing it so I took the time to do it myself so they wouldn't have to :)

Just letting people, know if you're having issues with this either post in this thread or PM the following things:
1. Which guide you used (The one on my guild's forum or the more in-depth one i posted here, first post on page 4)
2. What seems to be interfering with the fix. What you are doing when it crashes or what the issue is.
3. A copy of your globalload
4. A copy of dbg.txt in your Logs folder (Log into game. Then experience the bug. Whether the bug crashes you or not, do NOTHING until you've copied the contents of the text file)
5. Miscellaneous information you think i may need to know (What UI you use, what models you were trying to get on or off etc)
I will try to see what may be causing issues here and debug it for you.

Awesome! Now I don't have to look awful as an ogre.
I think the most important part of this thread is how much I disagree with this!
<3 old model ogre.
Is there any way to use Luclin models if you are forced to load from the EQUEmu patcher?
For some reason I cannot get the game to load unless I use the patcher, but I'd like to swap out a couple of models for Luclin (namely every PC race but Ogre/Troll/Iksar)

Unfortunately the patcher will continue to overwrite the custom Globalload every time you use it. So the only way would be to go back to using eqgame.exe or to have a backup of the custom file and drag and drop it the second it launches the game before logging in.

There appears to be an issue with robes on Gnome Males. Looking into it atm.
Also in a group as of this post but when I get a free moment i'll upload a pair of pre-made Globalloads for those that just want all the models and don't want to waste time building it, as per a request.

So the robes on elves are fucked up on my machine running Titanium.
What's the fix?
Danyelle
03-09-2012, 07:08 PM
Ok I've figured out a fix for the gnome robe issues where the robe isn't laying properly on the model. I tested it briefly but it appears to fix the "starched robe" issues with other races as well. I'm gonna be amending the guide here in a moment (I'll post to let you know when I'm done) but a word of warning.
I fixed it by double checking and directly emulating, through globalload, exactly what files the client loads when loading Luclin models normally and what order they are loaded in. I even went as far as to add the Vah Shir just in case, even though I doubt it matters. That being said the load order in globaload.txt is VERY VERY important if you do not want these robe issues. You may also want/need the Vah Shir model files despite not seeing them in game. I'll word the guide (as i'm going to rewrite/revamp it basically which is why it may take a moment) as best as I can. However, for now, the "build it yourself" aspect will remain the only option until I can get some form of patcher, installer or batch file together to make the process easier and more user friendly. So you'll have to follow everything to a T
As I said i'll make another post when the guide is revamped. :)

No problem. and <3 you too Groz lol
The guide has been completely remade. I highly suggest if you are using Luclin models to follow the new guide and rebuild your Globaload.txt file. Again, the guide can be found here,

If you have questions, comments or concerns contact me in this thread, via PM, or via tell to Rainbowdash in-game. I'm dedicated to working any kinks in this out so you can count on me to help in any way possible. :)
Also a reassurance. I am a player. Not a member of the dev team. What I'm doing here is on my own time and does not, in any way interfere with development of Project 1999 content nor does it delay it. Also, I have yet to receive word on the GM's stance on this I'm assuming they are ignoring it ;P. If it turns out they do not approve of this fix being available however I can, and will, remove it at their request :)

One thing I noticed was I couldn't find this Globalload.txt file so i made one from scratch using the guide. Secondly, for some reason that txt file has not effect whatsoever on the game, for me, dunno why. Thirdly i can play with hi res models on other servers using my p1999 eqgame.exe which i find strange. The files are obviously there but for some reason they won't load on the P1999 server, anyone have any ideas?

1. Globalload.txt is in the "Resources" folder inside your Everquest folder. For example "C:\Program Files\Everquest Titanium\Resources\"
2. If you were to put Globalload.txt ANYWHERE but that folder it won't do anything
3. The models work on other servers because other servers don't have their expansion variable set in the database to be lower than Luclin. So the server isn't telling the client not to allow them to use those models due to being at a lower expansion than Luclin. Project 1999 has an Expansion variable set to Kunark (or at least Velious...eventually Velious). This is lower than Luclin and the server tells the client not to permit use of the Luclin models through conventional means. You have to find a work around or the Expansion variable would have to be bumped up to at LEAST Luclin which would also enable other Luclin features such as the Vah shir, the Beastlord, and the AAs (although the AAs don't matter as there's none on Project 1999 to buy anyway but still...)
Thanks for the post! Love it. I love classic everything, but my troll looks better luclin style

So, my elves with robes are still screwed. Here is my globalload.txt, tell me what's wrong with it please.
When you went back and rebuilt it it looks like you just copied the PC races over from the old file but that had to be rebuilt by hand too. The order is part of the problem (for example globalhuf_chr2 should be loaded before globalhuf_chr) and also some of the characters are missing their _chr2's
Here's what your file should look like with the new build and the settings you chose (all on minus elementals, trolls, and iksar by the looks of it)

Just go into your Globaload.txt. Erase EVERYTHING then copy what I just put in the code box into your Globalload and save it. Log all the way out then back in and tell me if it fixes it. :)
And if anyone else is still running into issues post your problem and your globalload here I'll fix it. :)

Danyelle, thank you SO much! I love this thread, and everyone contributing to it!
I was perfectly happy with my nice old graphics, until my Ranger has an almost full suit of Ivy Etched with a Crested Helm...it just looked awful. (and frankly, classic Human Chain looks terrible anyway).
Running into a minor issue, and I don't know if there's anything that can be done about it or not, but I'm not able to save my face graphics when using the editor (For example I want my gnome to have white hair and beard, and it keeps reverting to brown hair, no beard). Any idea if this is just a server-side issue, or something that can be fixed client-side?
[Edit] Minor update: Been experimenting, and other characters save their look...I think it may just be a Gnome, or possibly an Enchanter issue (though it reverts even when I'm not using illusions, so I'm counting on Gnome problem)
Danyelle
03-15-2012, 12:41 AM
I'm not 100% clear on this. You say you're a chanter..you're not in an illusion at the time right? Last I checked Facial Features couldn't be saved under an illusion
If not i'll look into it

This is so cool. Thank you very much for doing the hard work on it. Nothing wrong with improved models, as long as there are no instances, portals and other trash that PoP introduced, its classic imo.

Not in illusion at the time.
Change my Gnome's face. If I zone, camp, or switch in and out of an illusion, it reverts back to a "default" of sorts.
My Human Ranger and Barbarian Warrior's facial features stick, but not my Gnome's.

Download the Globalload file for Project 1999 found on the Getting Started thread again, drag it over and overwrite. Or patch using the patcher.

I copied and pasted the bottom large text box in your page4 post you had, then got into game to try it out. Not sure what gnome robe problem was being discussed here, just wanted to give a screeny of erudite in robe had glitchy (really fast) blinking around the waist area (front and back) but would be stationary glitch when sitting. ==sorry because it was blinking so much, couldnt capture the glitch well== Just wanted to know if this was related to the gnome robe problem or if this is something not related. And if there is a way to fix this.

I just got and downloaded the titanium client last night, so i played for a bit with the classic models before switching to the luclin. i don't know how to access the game with the eqgame.exe without the guide (that i cant find anymore, but i didn't truly look around for it) so i just use the patcher, and save the globalload a few times before it starts up. the models work fine for me, but now, no one talks to me. before everyone had something to say, but now none of the NPCs say anything. is this connected?
i just hailed a few more people, and some do talk, but no one that has a [key word] will talk to me anymore.

Quest scripts are run through Perl and in no way tied to you set up of Globalload. Which mobs are or are not speaking to you? I'll go test them myself.
Also I had noticed Rogean changed the "Getting Started" guide to be more in depth. It also removes direct file download links to server files and simply tells people to use the patcher. I doubt this was done to prevent people from using this as, if that were the case, he would have just told me to erase the post because he didn't want it available... or...you know...just delete it himself. It does complicate things a bit, however, and I'll amend the guide in a moment. Basically run the patcher once in awhile to ensure updated files but don't set it up to run EVERYTIME you launch EQ. Keep a backup of your GlobalLoad.txt and after every patch, exit EQ, copy and paste you file, and log back in normally.
At any rate get back to me on your quest mobs. I'll try and test to see if it's related. Or whether there may be something else preventing you from speaking to them.

Most NPCs like my guildmaster and some merchants, random quest givers as well. Some NPCs who don't have the brackets will talk to me, but others won't. Then when I loaded the game up without the Luclin models saved, they started talking to me again.
I'm unsure how to not patch every time? I just open up the launcher and hit play. Then before it launches I save the GlobalLoad.

Don't always run through the patcher I mean. Have a regular shortcut set up on the desktop as per the Playguide (here (http://www.eqemulator.org/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=PlayGuide)) and run through that unless you need to patch. Then do what I described above when you do need to patch. I'll check NPC's in a moment.

Thanks Danyelle, this is very awesome.
Also, if you prefer to use the EQ Emu Launcher you can just right click on GlobalLoad.txt and make it read-only (Properties, mark the checkbox for Read-Only). The launcher will bring up an error message, but the game runs fine.
To the naysayers: I enjoy the Luclin models, what I see is my business and not yours. As we in the hiking community say: Hike your own hike. Play your own game applies here.
EDIT: Added note about making the file read-only.

Guide has been further amended to version 2.4
Jeremy's screenshot with the roboboar in the Arena reminded me GM's often use out-of-era races in GM events. The guide now reflects the ability to re-add these (There is now TWO lazy loads at the bottom. The 'light' version, which is the one that was already there, and the "default" version which includes out-of-era item graphics and default Titanium races.)
Do NOT use the "default" lazy load if your computer sucks, if you are experiencing long load times (usually only visible on client start-up), or are experiencing memory leaks.

Who cares what I'm looking at? It's not like this change on my system changes how you see my characters. It's not nerf worthy as it doesn't alter game play one bit.
I would suggest it increases enjoyment of the game for those who try the alteration and and decide to keep it. This keeps more people playing which means its easier to find groups.

Hey all,
I noticed that in today's patch, they included a new globalload.txt file. I backed up my luclin modified one, loaded the new one, and sure enough, back to the old models. So, I replaced the new one with my old luclin one, and the game seems to be working.
My question is this, why would they include a new globalload file if there wasn't something important in there? So far with my old one my game seems to be working, but i'm afraid there's something important contained in that new one.
Any ideas?

They didn't change anything with global load. The patch is just a repack of every custom file in one.
If there's something essential to P99 added to global load I amend the guide.

Wizard, you needn't use the emulator to play(except very first time)
You make a shortcut of your EQGame.exe and add "patchme" so it reads:
C:\whereveryouinstalled\EQ\eqgame.exe patchme
Use this everytime until it gives you any errors when running the game, and THEN you use EQ Emulator to update.

I like the models, however some reason all my spell icon grafics changed and there not making any sence. My chanter has a mix of cleric and bard spell icon grafics. :( Also loads of duplicates all my nukes/mezzes/root all look the same.

Awesome, thanks!!
For some reason I am still not seeing the Luclin elemental models. I used the second lazy load from page 4 of this thread and double checked to make sure the elementals were set to TRUE in the eqclient.ini. Using duxaUI and all the other models seem to load just fine. Is there something I'm missing?

Change the 2 "elemental" lines of code to this:
3,0,TFFF,Global5_chr2,Loading Elementals and Horses
3,0,TFFF,Global5_chr,Loading Elementals and Horses
Anyway... I was turning off some models today and noticed that without the Wood Elf models, other elves get stuck in that stiff Vitruvian Man pose (like the skellies).
I, then, kind of had some vague recollection of Sony telling us (back in the day) that Wood Elves needed to be turned on to see other elves animate.
Yeah, I have that in there per the Lazy Load 2 from page 4, but no luck.

There's a difference between what's on Page 4. I got my code from this site:

And it works.

I'm curious. Was enabling Luclin models never actually possible in Project 1999 or was it interfering with the server operation in any way?
myriverse
07-07-2013, 07:49 AM
Enabling Luclin models is still possible and it does not interfere with server operation at all. It's all done client-side. As such, only the person that enables Luclin models can see Luclin models.

I'm having difficulty in getting this to work.
I know that by using the EQEmulauncher I patch the globalload.txt files so I lose any changes. When I try using the "eqgame.exe" instead I receive and error that is entitled "Project 1999" and it states:
Please delete wsock32.dll and eqgame.dll from your Everquest Titanium Directory.
When I search for both those files they are not found in the Sony folder. Using the Windows search option yields no results either.
The only trace of these two files are in the 787.xml file (located in EQUEmulauncher/files/) the last three lines read as:
<delete clienttype="Titanium">/wsock32.dll</delete>
<delete clienttype="Titanium">/eqgame.dll</delete>
</getServerFiles>
I saw a post by Vitalious about this issue:
Ok, ill take the time to help people the best i can. Im a little knowledgeable when it comes to computers so i should be able to dumb it down. I had the issue, found the files and just deleted them.
Extract the zip file(changes14) to your sony->EQ file.
When it asks to replace other files, say yes.
Now finding wsock and eqgame.dll. Generally they are a couple of the last files in that folder, but if they arent. click on one of the icons and hit the "w" key over and over. Your selection will change from file to file that starts with a "w". Go slowly until you find Wsock.dll and delete it. The same goes for eqgame.dll, except hit the "e" key. If you cant find these files, make sure you didnt place them somewhere else. Go back to your basic "sony" file directory, which means the main folder by hitting the up arrow on a folder icon at the top of your window. Then hit control+F on your keyboard. Type in the file name, select search all files and folders and hit search. When it comes up, write down the location and then go to that file location.
What ZIP file is he talking about? Anyone have any pointers on what to do at this point? Thanks :)

First, see the guide in my signature about running P99 without EQEmuLauncher. No offense to the creator of that program, but it causes me more trouble than its worth (it doesn't work easily on ubuntu and I am answering questions all the time in Tech Disc forums about it).
Second, I think Danyelle has the best guide for enabling luclin models:

Third, Luclin models suck.

I can't get them to work.
I'm using falkun's method of running the game without the eqemulator client, so it doesn't patch over my editing of globalload.
I have everything correct and I have ran the program several times and double checked the globalload file.
What do I do?

this thread should be deleted and everyone in it banned
^^ Because people that use really do not wish to see the smudged pixel from a psx version, Your post is invalid and about as pointless as me replying to it. Whatever people want to use to play should be fine, I support Luclin/Classic as it does not effect me or anything with anyone else. If it makes people play and we get a increase in population I say use it, Not only that it has been bashed to death, people do not even know who is using them. I like to switch back and forth from classic to luclin models over periods of time.

The way I have mine set up is I made a folder in my Backup, One is named Classic, Luclin, Velious the actually cut and paste the Global_chr.s3d and global4_chr.s3d and swap them in and out to change them, Once you open you EQ folder it is in that folder I believe, I would have to look again. Either in there or the resource folder I would have to look when I get home.
Make sure to Save your Default one and make a classic folder for back up, Just in case you ever want to go back...

Luclin Models Guide 2.4
This guide will involve COMPLETELY rebuilding the Global Load.txt file piece by piece. I will be as detailed as possible but please be sure to follow the instructions very very very carefully. Eventually I will get a patcher of sorts set up but for now the guide is all I can provide.
NOTE: Things highlighted in red are NOT optional. Things highlighted in green are optional.
Each Section is a different step. Let's begin :)
1: Setting up the File
Navigate to Globalload.txt in your Resources folder in your Everquest directory. Delete EVERYTHING from inside this file so that it is a blank .txt document.
2: Starting to build the File
Add the following to the top:
1,1,TFFF,GlobalFroglok_chr,Loading Classic Froglok
1,1,TFFT,GlobalPCFroglok_chr,Loading Guktan
1,1,TFFF,frogequip,Loading Guktan Parts
1,1,TFFT,GlobalSKE_chr2,Loading Froglok
1,1,TFFF,GlobalDRK_chr,Loading Froglok
1,1,TFFF,Global_obj,Loading Character Equipment Files
1,1,TFTF,GEquip,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,GEquip8,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,GEquip2,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,grass,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,GEquip4,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,GEquip3,Loading Character Equipment Files
3: Adding Later Expansion Item Graphics
Some GM's have items equipped that use graphics outside the Classic-Velious era (For example Amelinda apparently has the Monk 2.0 equipped on one or more of her GM toons). While it is highly unlikely any player will get their hands on these items, if you desire to see if a GM has them or if you simply want them loaded "just in case" add the following lines next:
2,0,TFFF,loyequip,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,ldonequip,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,gatesequip,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,omensequip.eqg,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,donequip.eqg,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,dodequip.eqg,Loading Character Equipment Files
4: Adding the Luclin Races
Add the races you want In this order.
NOTE: At one point way back during Luclin's release, and for awhile afterwards, you HAD to have Human males/females loaded in order to use Erudites and Wood Elf males/females loaded in order to use High Elves, Half Elves and Dark Elves. I do not know if this is still the case but if you run into animation issues where a model is stiff then keep this in mind.
NOTE 2: You must add the races in the order presented below and the files in the order listed. Meaning do not flip a file line above another or load a race before another race in this list. For example. If human lines were listed as:
1,1,TFFT,load human model 2,Etc Etc
1,1,TFFT,load human model,Etc Etc
you must add the files in that order to the Globalload. NOT "load human model 2" after "load human model". Even if it makes sense numerically. Also if Human is listed before Dark Elf in the list below you can not load Dark Elf before human. Order is VERY important for this.
Human Male:
1,1,TFFT,globalHUM_chr2,Loading Human
1,1,TFFT,globalHUM_chr,Loading Human
Human Female:
1,1,TFFT,globalHUF_chr2,Loading Human

1,1,TFFT,globalHAM_chr,Loading Half Elf
Half Elf Female:
1,1,TFFT,globalHAF_chr2,Loading Half Elf

Dwarf Male:

1,1,TFFT,globalHOM_chr,Loading Halfling
Halfling Female:
1,1,TFFT,globalHOF_chr2,Loading Halfling
1,1,TFFT,globalHOF_chr,Loading Halfling
Gnome Male:
1,1,TFFT,globalGNM_chr2,Loading Gnome
1,1,TFFT,globalGNM_chr,Loading Gnome
Gnome Female:
1,1,TFFT,globalGNF_chr2,Loading Gnome

Iksar Male:
1,1,TFFT,globalIKM_chr2,Loading Iksar
1,1,TFFT,globalIKM_chr,Loading Iksar
Iksar Female:
1,1,TFFT,globalIKF_chr2,Loading Iksar
1,1,TFFT,globalIKF_chr,Loading Iksar
5. Vah Shir
While I'm not sure if it's necessary or not I did this anyway and since it hurts nothing to load it, considering the Guktan Froglok is loaded as well anyway, you may as well load it. Add this below the Iksar Race (Or whatever was the last Luclin race you decided to load)
1,1,TFFT,globalKEM_chr2,Loading Vah Shir
1,1,TFFT,globalKEM_chr,Loading Vah Shir
1,1,TFFF,VEquip,Loading Vah Shir Parts
1,1,TFFT,globalKEF_chr2,Loading Vah Shir
1,1,TFFT,globalKEF_chr,Loading Vah Shir
3,0,TFFF,Global5_chr2,Loading Elementals and Horses
3,0,TFFF,Global5_chr,Loading Elementals and Horses
6. Elementals
Elementals MUST be turned on via eqclient.ini
UseLuclinElementals=TRUE

The main reason people are against this is because they know if you use the Luclin models their chars appear non classic on your screen and they feel violated because theyre hung up as far back as the 1997 Beta...
I use elfs, troll, new elementals from luclin the rest of my models are classic just my preference
Cant please everyone heh
Heres the other thread on it http://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73974

LDoN. Aye it's an unrelated race that can't overwrite the Classic/Luclin ones (Classic/Luclin = 60, LDoN = 367)
Well, they could... just a matter of giving the data for one the name of the other. Unless classic skeles are hardcoded to use human animations as well? Although I don't recall humans collapsing into a pile of bones when they sit.
Well, made things easy on myself and just added a "rename" function to the extracter tool instead.
Using LDoN skeles in place of classic mostly works. Only trouble is that their sit and stand animations appear to get reversed, so they collapse into a pile of bones as they get up and uncollapse and freeze into the first frame of their standing position when sitting. Things straighten out as soon as they move, at least... Could probably fix that one way or another but more work than I care to put into it at this point. Oh, and the alternate textures don't work for whatever reason.
Instructions for nobody:
1) Copy skt_chr.s3d (LDoN skele file) and rename it to ske_chr.s3d
2) Go to ske_chr.s3d in the extracter tool, right-click the SKT_ACTORDEF bit that comes up in the other column and select "Rename Model"
3) In the rename popup, change SKT to SKE
4) Put ske_chr in your global load file above global_chr and/or global6_chr
Made me realize that the extracter tool currently misses alternate textures and particle data associated with a model. Might fix later.
edit:
Replacing one model with another globally is much the same:
1) Find a file containing the model you want (this list (http://wiki.eqemulator.org/p?NPC_Models&frm=Main) is a good place to start if the model you want is not already global, otherwise it's probably in a file with "global" in its name)
2) Copy that file OR extract the desired model from it.
3) Find the 3-letter identifier for the model you want to replace (above list helps there too)
4) In the copied/extracted file, rename your desired model from whatever it's 3-letter identifier currently is to the 3-letter identifier of the model to be replaced
5) Put the copied/extracted file high up in the global load file (first line is fine)
If you have texture caching on (I think?) sometimes some of the original model's textures will show up instead of the proper ones. Should sort itself out, else you can delete the texture cache files.
Cazic Thule snakes work, other than having a bizarre kick animation (kicks his entire model at you). At least the cazic from unrest_chr, didn't try the one from fearplane_chr.
Making non-global replacements would also be doable, but more work to set up.
I may work on this at some point.
This is not the thread I typically check btw.

Use the thread in my sig, because i never check these old threads unless i happen across it. I've subbed the other one and receive post emails.
And to answer your question, no because everyone wants some models on or off. You'd have to build it yourself. Or I'd have to create an installer where you input what you want and it does it, but I haven't yet.

If there is a legitimate technical reason that the models are disabled, that can be proved, then there's no reason to debate it. But 99% of the reason people give to not allow Luclin models is because they don't like it. That's not a reason... it's cosmetic. That's like going up to someone who has a red car and telling them they can't have a red car because you like blue. "I don't like it so no one should have it" is not a valid reason.

I believe some of the luclin models are taller than their classic counterparts, so you can get to different spots/jump higher in certain places (so technically an exploit). Not sure which models or where these spots are since I haven't used the luclin models in years, but I remember someone mentioning that somewhere on here. The geometry on some of them is definitely different from classic, though, so I can see where you might use them to get into places you otherwise couldn't reach.

Yeah since the new method seems legit (cant make skeletons human to exploit or something like that) ive been using the luclin models on and off. Ive been doing things like adding dx9 features like bloom and motion blur (which fixed the incredible frame skipping with shadows issue), upgraded the textures to the HQ ones, new water in old zones, alternative spell effects, changed windows midi sound font, and put in the old loading screen/character select/combat music. The gameplay is still classic but it looks so much better on the eyes. This is everything I ever wanted. I couldnt get into the game back then because I couldnt stand how it looked. Now it looks so much better so I can enjoy the classic difficulty without the eyerape. This has to be my favorite mmo sofar.

I didn't happen to see that all I saw was something about the pvp being unfair. If that's true I suppose I could see why they want to directly control that. However, if it is because of pvp it shouldn't really matter on a blue server.
Although I can't see how a client side cosmetic change would effect collision or hit boxes.
I've also noticed that there are posts to make graphical changes such as the magician pet model (old model with better textures), and the newer pet models are currently being used by default.

It gave people on the PvP server a unfair advantage... all 50 of them so people exploiting it basically ruined it for all those that enjoyed the Luclin models.... I miss them already, I enjoyed the game sooooo much more and I know dam well im not the only one that feels that way lol, but hey its a free server recognized by Daybreak themselves so im not going to complain, just wish we could use them :p

Nope, it won't work anymore. Even though they have the texture pack for Luclin pinned in a guide and encourages its use (eliminating the "its classic" reason since you can still swap to Luclin textures), they explicitly server-side disabled it for those that prefer Luclin models (affecting no one else if you had it on). They also did this to the sky/water.
I recommend the HD texture project.

Luclin Models Guide 2.4
This guide will involve COMPLETELY rebuilding the Global Load.txt file piece by piece. I will be as detailed as possible but please be sure to follow the instructions very very very carefully. Eventually I will get a patcher of sorts set up but for now the guide is all I can provide.
NOTE: Things highlighted in red are NOT optional. Things highlighted in green are optional.
Each Section is a different step. Let's begin :)
1: Setting up the File
Navigate to Globalload.txt in your Resources folder in your Everquest directory. Delete EVERYTHING from inside this file so that it is a blank .txt document.
2: Starting to build the File
Add the following to the top:
1,1,TFFF,GlobalFroglok_chr,Loading Classic Froglok
1,1,TFFT,GlobalPCFroglok_chr,Loading Guktan
1,1,TFFF,frogequip,Loading Guktan Parts
1,1,TFFT,GlobalSKE_chr2,Loading Froglok
1,1,TFFF,GlobalDRK_chr,Loading Froglok
1,1,TFFF,Global_obj,Loading Character Equipment Files
1,1,TFTF,GEquip,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,GEquip8,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,GEquip2,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,grass,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,GEquip4,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,GEquip3,Loading Character Equipment Files
3: Adding Later Expansion Item Graphics
Some GM's have items equipped that use graphics outside the Classic-Velious era (For example Amelinda apparently has the Monk 2.0 equipped on one or more of her GM toons). While it is highly unlikely any player will get their hands on these items, if you desire to see if a GM has them or if you simply want them loaded "just in case" add the following lines next:
2,0,TFFF,loyequip,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,ldonequip,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,gatesequip,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,omensequip.eqg,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,donequip.eqg,Loading Character Equipment Files
2,0,TFFF,dodequip.eqg,Loading Character Equipment Files
4: Adding the Luclin Races
Add the races you want In this order.
NOTE: At one point way back during Luclin's release, and for awhile afterwards, you HAD to have Human males/females loaded in order to use Erudites and Wood Elf males/females loaded in order to use High Elves, Half Elves and Dark Elves. I do not know if this is still the case but if you run into animation issues where a model is stiff then keep this in mind.
NOTE 2: You must add the races in the order presented below and the files in the order listed. Meaning do not flip a file line above another or load a race before another race in this list. For example. If human lines were listed as:
1,1,TFFT,load human model 2,Etc Etc
1,1,TFFT,load human model,Etc Etc
you must add the files in that order to the Globalload. NOT "load human model 2" after "load human model". Even if it makes sense numerically. Also if Human is listed before Dark Elf in the list below you can not load Dark Elf before human. Order is VERY important for this.
Human Male:
1,1,TFFT,globalHUM_chr2,Loading Human
1,1,TFFT,globalHUM_chr,Loading Human

5. Vah Shir
While I'm not sure if it's necessary or not I did this anyway and since it hurts nothing to load it, considering the Guktan Froglok is loaded as well anyway, you may as well load it. Add this below the Iksar Race (Or whatever was the last Luclin race you decided to load)
1,1,TFFT,globalKEM_chr2,Loading Vah Shir
1,1,TFFT,globalKEM_chr,Loading Vah Shir
1,1,TFFF,VEquip,Loading Vah Shir Parts

3,0,TFFF,Global5_chr2,Loading Elementals and Horses
3,0,TFFF,Global5_chr,Loading Elementals and Horses
6. Elementals
Elementals MUST be turned on via eqclient.ini
UseLuclinElementals=TRUE
No other Luclin models in eqclient.ini must be set to TRUE. Only Elementals if you want them.
7. Luclin Model Armor Files
Add this below the Vah Shir. You MUST have this loaded, in this order, to use any Luclin models.

1,1,TFFF,LGEquip_amr,Loading Armor Files
1,1,TFFF,LGEquip2,Loading Armor Files

This does not work!
Pretty sure these were disabled as the different character models allowed some geometry exploits or something. That and they're ugly / not classic.

This method no longer works as mentioned. If I recall there was some configuration changes that needed to be made for Velious prep/launch

Yeah bannable offense for liking luclin graphics.

There are definitely geometry differences. Large races can run full speed through Unrest and parts of Neriak that definitely required ducking. New water becomes translucent giving unfair advantage over classic players.

Just bumping to emphasize my disgust for classic models. Luclin models hurt no one. Unrest running? go fuck yourself. thats not a real reason. This is tyranny. this is personal preference forced on everyone else while we simultaneously get xp% stock on UI and all of the other non classic jazz. The fact that i can tab to wiki is not classic. This whole fucking thing is non classic. At least give luclin models to blue, fuck!

My 2 friends and I agree with this, we started playing the game 10 months before Luclin release, so we loved the graphic update back then.
Luclin models don't hurt anyone, and I know all the "classic" theory about this, but there aren't other servers like blue/green and thats the problem, we are stuck with old graphics, or empty servers with 50 players with 3-6 characters each one... we love the classic feeling of the server, but damn the graphics hurts our eyes :)

Hi guys, I tried updating Ogre and High Elf models this way and it didn't work. Client errors out so just reverted to original classic models.
Anyone has a fix?

I wish there was a Shadows of Luclin P99 Like server ... all other servers are full of bots and boxes ...
I am 50/50 on Luclin Models ... I prefer the classic models ... and I truly enjoyed the time they added Vah Shir low res models for those that played with the classic oldskool models past the luclin era.
