View Full Version : Could someone recommend a cheap Paladin 1 hander?

I have been playing my High Elf Paladin recently and he's only using a 1hand Broad Sword at the moment with a massive 6 damage on it. Since a Ghoulbane is probably out of my price range is there anything else I should be looking for around 200 plat or so? If I have to keep saving up I will but this sword as far as 1handers go is not cutting it. I have a Dwarven Battleaxe for 2 hand slash which is nice, but I'd like a decent 1 hander. Slashing or Blunt doesn't really matter to me. I tried searching through other threads but couldn't find any solid advice.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

sword of skyfire can be found for around 300. its 10/22 with an ae proc at lvl 50. the ae proc keeps the value low. great for anyone under lvl 50.

I saw someone selling a green jade broadsword over the weekend for 300. It's 11/25 str+8 sta+8 disease +poison +10. No proc, but decent weap for sure.

Ooooh for a high elf that STR and STA would help out a lot. Thank you for that answer as well!

Sword of Skyfire and Green Jade Broadsword are good choices.

In the meantime, try and save up for a Sword of the Morning. It's about 2k plat, but one of the best for a Pally. 16/27 ratio, +10 dex (for procing), and a lv50 proc that does 30-50 damage and stuns. Amazing for holding aggro once it can proc.

This. I believe Ghoulbane is needed to earn either the Fiery Avenger or Fiery Defender.

Not by too much. it's still been 500-700 range when I see it pop up.

You can still buy one for around 500, but you'll have to monitor auctions and be prepared to act on the auction right away.

I sold mine for 450 around epics (I gave up on my paladin, bored as hell), then rebought it for 475 a month later when I decided to give it another try.

Thank you again for all the replies everyone. Whatever I choose to buy, I still need a few more hundred plat. I'll keep working on it and saving. Thanks!

Green Jade Broadsword is a solid piece if you can save up a little plat.

+Str helps a lot when carrying around all that armor XD

For real. I have a bunch of Bronze on that a Cleric gave me and its weighing my frail High Elf body down.

i know you aren't asking about how to make money but going to talk about it anyway.

at low levels most people sell bone chips and silk to players. i didn't care for that cause a. have to kill tons of greenies and get no exp and b. have to sit in ec auctioning and get no exp.

i did rabid wolf hide quest with cleric guild in qeynos. prob about 50pp an hour and the turn in is better exp than grouping at those levels.

there are two rabid wolves in qeynos hills, both spawn in the western "hilly" part of the zone between the lake and qeynos zone line. one spawns at the base of the hills closest to qeynos and the other spawns in a valley right near the lake.

kill wolves, hand in, kill wolves, hand in, kill wolves, hand in, go to ec and buy shiny sword.

Thank you for the Tip. The Qeynos area is one of my least travelled so I tend to stay away from there unless I'm with someone who has something to do over there.

Omg this. I had so much fun a year or so ago when I decided to take a character and play through the Qeynos material since I was a Crushbone/Faydwer guy back on live.

You can kill the wolves then run back over to BB and kill off any gnoll spawns and the rabid grizzly that drops a skin for a quest similar to the wolf quest...More exp/loot. I believe you get a spell scroll from the diseased bear pelt quest that sells for a good chunk of plat, and gnoll teeth speak for themselves.

Qeynos has more EQ "character" in the sense of cool lowbie quests and content than the freeport side and maybe a little more than the Faydwer area (although there are some cool quests/etc there too). Other than the EC tunnel and the absurd amount of decaying skeletons in Nro, Freeport basically sucks.
