View Full Version : How to Twink?

On EQLive they had shared bank space so you were able to twink a character. Back in the day you had to drop the item (usually backpack filled with stuff) on the floor and log onto a different character to pick it up.
Does that still work, or does the items disappear? Was trying to twink a new Wizard to aid me a bit.
Thank you. =)

Find a trusted friend to trade it. Dropping it sounds risky. I remember doing it in eq live though.
No joke. But if you need someone to trade items to your wizzy ill do it for you.

Yeah you can drop bags on the ground but you only have like 1 to 2 minutes before it poofs. I have lost a few over the years. Risky but it works. If you go LD your goose is cooked though.
But it is risky to give a lot of bags to someone in the tunnel also. I know most people are honest but it does happen. And if you are dropping like 4 or 5 bags very few people have that many slots open for a trade. No real good way. A Guildie is probably the best way, but they may not be in the zone you need.
Giving anyone 300k worth of gear in the trade window would be risky lol. A Fungi , few good weapons can be that much easy. Not that I have ever had that much plat on here. More like 3000 plat. GL.

Since I came back to the game and my guild dissappeared, I find it very hard to transfer things, especially money. What I try to do is find a high lvl (40+) in one of the top guilds and ask. They have a reputation to keep, so they actually have something to lose. The hard part is finding someone with enough bag slots to transfer in tunnel. Have to admit the people in that Bregan(?) are very nice and helpful.

I've regularly transferred items between accounts using the drop method. You definitely have enough time to do it that way - it's not as convenient, though.
Some of the regular traders in EC with a rep to maintain (I forget their names) usually did transfers for free...

a word of warning about the drop method.
Don't drop in an area that an npc paths. The npc may pick up your items. (at least they did on live)

Just find someone trustworthy and have them do a trade.
I've done trades over 100k for strangers in the past. Maybe find one of the players that does escrow services, they will often do transfers for you at no cost.

I asked a GM before I transfered my fungi. He said that if I got the person to agree that the trade was a transfer and took a screen shot of it, the GM's would help if something went wrong.

I offer free transfer services when i'm online in the tunnel, if you call me online via pm on the forums it's nice to tip though. Check out my escrow thread for community feedback on me if you're uncertain whether to trust me or not.

I have two different toons bound at Timorous Deep (ports to any starter town) - if you need a transfer ever just hit me up in game and if I'm not busy I can do a pick up and drop off for you.
I also have a few toons bound at EC tunnel for buying/selling.

It's longer to one or two minutes.
I've moved some cheap throwaway items to alt by drop transferring. and taken about 3~4 mins and still been able to grab it. Like my client crashed right after i logged on alt after logging off my main.
I still had time to log back in.. wait for alt to disconnect fully and grab items.
I'll grab a stop watch later and time with something stupid like a water flask.. but I'm pretty sure its 5 minutes for stuff to go poof.
I think I remember some magician telling me that because he was making mod rods to toss on the ground for an epic fight.

You can also use containers if no one else is around (at least you could on live).
Drop items in a forge and swap to your alt, I don't think those are subject to 5 min timer.

Get one real life friend to give the game a try. Then if he steals your stuff you can go to his house and beat some face.

The containers don't work.. when you close it it puts the items back into your inventory automatically.

Containers used to work on live. I used to put lore items in the forge or whatever was don in Droga. Transfer an item to an alt and come back and get it from the container. They didn't program it like that here apparently.

That would be a cool trick if it did work though.. I'm not sure how hard that would be to set up on P99 heh.

I remember reading at one time on live you could transfer no-drop items through forge.

You cannot transfer items via immobile trade container because when you right click it, it will engage the recipe mode first, every time. Anything inside them when you leave the container behind will be annihilated in a storm of buzzing electrons.

lol I remember doing the drop method back in live. I would find the most remote building in Kelethin and walk around behind it on the little ledge and drop my bags there.

Pretty sure P99 made it so immobile trade containers would just re-inventory all your items if you moved out of range or closed it with stuff inside.
