View Full Version : Am I screwed?

I'm sure this has been asked or whined about already but I figured I'd ask anyway. I'm a returning P99 junkie. I was a member of Divinity and had quite a few friends when I played, but I'm not sure if any are still around or would remember me now.
Regardless, I can't remember my password. To make things worse, I can't remember exactly which account name I used either.
Is there any way to recover either of these? I'd really hate to lose everything as I had quite a few nice things and was nearly max level.
I'm screwed, aren't I?

Forgive me, but isn't this just for the P99 forums?

Thanks, will do that now. Sorry if this was posted in the wrong spot to begin with.

do you know your pw for eqemulator.com? if so log in and you can check what the usernames are of your server logins under the control panel. this forum cant do much for you in the realm of pw resets and stuff. check your email history for emails from eqemulator

Yea you'll have better luck on eqemulator.org - if any luck is to be had. Check whatever email address you would have used to sign up in the first place for old emails from them, if you know neither the account name or the email address you signed up with then... well you're unlikely to get anywhere.

Hey Kuron!
Hey Sylexis, nice to hear from you again, hopefully I'll be seeing you in-game soon from my original character and not a level 1 start-over. :(

This was an awesome tidbit of info, I really appreciate it! I now know exactly which account name I used.
Many thanks!
Now for the password, ugh.

Help me Obi-Wan Kenrogie?
I'm pretty sure from the EQ Emulator home you can get your worldserver PW, but not your login server PW (which is what you need, it sounds like).

Correct, I need the login server PW reset or sent to me. I double checked and it seems I don't even have a world server associated with my account. I really appreciate your input though.
If you don't have a worldserver associated with your account then you don't have characters. The worldserver is the information you type to login to see the servers.

Was there a purge of all characters or something? Do they get deleted after X amount of time? I'm fairly certain this is the only email/account on EQEmu that I have. Here's a screencap:

Just had a buddy try to make a character with my name(s), rejected them all. So the characters still exist somewhere.
Hey Kuron,
My bad, you were totally right. On that page you're viewing, the blocked out part is your login to see the server list. You can get that PW if you request it. What you CAN'T get (if I'm remembering correctly) is the PW you used to log in to VIEW that info. You should be good.

Phew, you scared me, haha. Thanks man, I hope you're right about me being good to go. I appreciate the feedback. :)

Yeah if you can log into eqemu.org and view that you can request to change your password, that I am certain of.
well as long as you know your email heh.

That's good to hear, here's hoping it's just that easy. I definitely know my email and I've made a similar post on EQEmu and messaged Rogean on the EQEmu forums.
Hopefully all I need to do now is sit back and wait... hopefully.

If you look in your eqemu folders there are some character name files saved too. If your char and account names are the same then you can get them back that way.

Good to know for future reference, but I've got the account name now. It's available under the control panel on the EQEmu forums. I appreciate the input though, thanks!

A word to the wise. Always store your passwords, for everything, in two places. In today's world there are too many and it is unlikely that you will be able to remember them all - even if you try to make them similar (can't make them the same due to different rules for passwords of course).
To this end, I have a file on my computer (secured) and an app on my Windows Phone for storing these.
Good luck on your quest to get your character back - I suspect you will be successful. Welcome back in either event.

I appreciate the kindly reinforcement. And believe me, I will definitely be storing my passwords more safely from now on. I had already begun a way of archiving them for such emergencies, but hadn't started prior to joining P99. Lesson learned to be sure, and I hope you're right about my impending success.

First main was a Wood Elf Warrior named Beleri that I stopped around 25. Then I played a woodie druid to mid 40s named Magilla, since I had more playtime than the gf. We finally settled on a shaman necro duo that we got to low 30s before we went back to live...pretty sure his name is Maltus....the shammy that is. I haven't been able to log in yet.
Thank you. It's great to be almost back.

Ah yes, I believe I've grouped with Beleri once or twice. That name is very familiar. Hoping to get my password issue cleared up so we can group again sometime.
Cheers!

Haha good call, however I have my username now. A very helpful person pointed out that you can view all registered accounts on the control panel section of EQEmu. Good to know for anyone else in my situation.
