View Full Version : Solo shaman pet tactics?

My shaman is 36 now, and I've been looking around for a new spot after the saltwater crocs at AC went light blue. Trouble is, in this new level range I seem to be taking a lot more damage than I was before. So soloing is less efficient than it was. My current method is:

haste, regen and buff me
haste pet
send pet
slow
scourge
melee
then sometimes winter's roar

This used to work fine, but now that mobs are hitting for ~80 I am losing too much health. Root rotting seems to use too much mana, especially since enstil breaks quite often.

Any ideas for a more efficient method? I figure pet can be used to make this work better, not sure how though. Also, for what it's worth, my gear is mostly totemic with a couple of jaundice pieces and the odd bit of hp and wis in jewellery.

Thanks

It sounds to me as if you really just need better AC. Buy up all the cheap 500pp Jaundiced Bone gear that you can, get a Poison Wind Censer, and off you go. There's no reason you shouldn't be able to melee mobs with a decent AC and weapon at this level.

If you're a Troll take your quested snare neck and go to Rathe Mountains.

1) SoW yourself and pet
2) Haste pet
3) Snare a Hill Giant
4) Run

You can then either let pet kill and use essentially 0 mana or you can use Winter's Roar with distance and/or melee to ensure you get full exp.

1. dont use enstill, keep using root
2. root rott is the way for mobs that hit too hard
3. stack the dots and canni away
4. shaman pet is just another form of dot, dont expect much from it
5. u cant expect to be able to tank every mob as shaman, unless u have proper gear for it

Snare doesn't really last long enough to kite with and there's a six second cast time. Better to just root rot.

I do root> pet> slow> dot1> dot2> canni dance rinse and repeat.

This seems to work rather well on dark blues. I'm 35 currently.

Do that Firiona Vie quest for the snare weapon.

Give it to your pet.

Never log out.

gotta look at your health as mana too so if your not taking hits by root rotting that health becomes mana where if you are lower AC (im like almost 700 ac on my sham same lvl atm) then every hit taken is mana lost but double because you need to heal yourself and or cannot canni that into mana.

that make sense? im tired

also careful with hasting pet they light shit up as it is and if you are only doin meelee damage they can toatally outdmg you for 50+% and you lose alot of exp. nother reason why root rot is more mana efficient or at least dot tanking

take your time getting the max level pet you can get it might take a few summons but it will be worth it if your staying in the same area for awhile, I always used to str buff pet too seemed to help
