That is a decent feature of the game and not a very classic breaking feature as say... Global chats and no EC area which destroys one of the most cherished aspects of classic.

How does the server feel regarding this?

Should have left it in?

Glad it was removed?

Dont care, I melee.

VOTe!

Game breaking or not, the goal of the server is to be as classic as possible.

On the fence. It's not classic, so removing it is technically progress. However, it was a very useful, inoffensive feature.

Basically, I agree that I'd rather see global chat go away before stuff like this.

I can see that point of view but lets be honest with ourselves... this isnt a true classic server by far.

Casters dont have to look at a book till 30 to med.
I could list a hundreds simple retarded things like that.

Ill be honest Nilbog.

I dont want to point them out... I dont want a 100% classic server.
Hence why I feel like Spell worn off would have been OK to leave in.
I wouldnt want casters to have to look at book till 35.

I'll be sure to point out any non classic features that I dont like, just like everyone else.

Its your guys sandboxes tho and I do enjoy it very much. Dont want to sound like a little bitch about it.

I only found it useful for buffs, it saved a melee telling me "haste" every 10 minutes. Not a huge issue to me /shrug.

Does it still show when root breaks? You always got a message when root wore off iirc.

Should be left in, as should being able to see pet buffs imo. Look either this server is trying to be as classic as possible or its not. Not everything about classic was good and there are some things which make the server better without being classic. For example, linking items.

How can you justify taking out this feature but leaving global ooc in? Or linking items? As stated above, this isn't a classic breaking feature, it is just nice and helpful.

As a druid... dots and buffs for me mostly.

I guess one good thing about it is, now it wont be on me to worry about buff timers.

melee dont speak up melee dont get buffed?

For the sake of argument, I filed the following two bugs:

Game Mechanics: Players buffing NPCs (http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=7115)

Game Mechanics: Giving items and equipment to NPCs and mobs (http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=7114)

Both of these issues come with significant customer service costs, but they are technically classic. Will we see fixes for them?

I'm very neutral on this issue, but I'm curious what we're shooting for in terms of mixing up old features with classic features.

Hmm.. If you are speaking of guards and such.. and can't do that.. then maybe thats an issue.. But if you are speaking of the newbie kill mobs like bats, you had to charm them before giving them buffs/items, which I believe is doable.

Or linking items?

That can be argued as well. Turning off item links might re-simulate the east commons auction area (or some area, doesn't have to be the tunnel). If people don't have global auction, or item links, they are brought together.

I don't think linking items makes the server "better". It just makes auctioning more convenient. You don't need to memorize the stats of items, and you don't have to shop.

I've stated this before, but I'm an advocate of the removal of global chat as well.

People were forced to gather in EC to trade, socialize, and lfg because there was no global ooc.

It would be refreshing to see a huge number of people collecting in one zone and having a ball ala golden era of eq. Right now, everyone is spread throughout norrath and trades and wham bam thank you mam.

Classic only allowed you to be rezzed with experience for the first 2 hours, later extended to 3 hours.

During launch and I believe up to approx. 6 months into the game, group aggregate damage was not taken into account, meaning an individual could KS a group if he did more DPS than any one, single person in that group.

Not that PoA is out yet, but all buffs were removed from a player when they entered PoA.

I would, but I'm a sicko. I bet the devs would do it too if it were technically feasible, which is why this server rocks.

Links, global ooc? When they go away, I'll get my main drunk as a skunk and celebrate all day long.

In my opinion make it as classic as possible.

I'm for no global ooc , auc, no buff wear off messages, no bonus damage , monks tank the best with high agi, the old melee damage tables, dropping plat on the ground "unfixable i think" , no showing exact amount of mana with certain ui's, no level reqs on items = ) , and 3 hours on corpse's for exp back not 7 days.. etc etc. global ooc was cool with 100 people on the server ,but now it is just a perv spammer and the 8 other people that constantly talk smack. They are worse than the spammer in my opinion.

We love classic eq for how hardcore it was. P1999 is the only classic server and is the best classic server. It is almost exactly like it was in the old days if you use the velious ui. To me this server is better than a server in 1999. Thanks for making this server come to life!

As i said... im not for 100% classic like this... I like the UI, I like the spell msg, I like the res times. Dont like global chats... ect ect.
Im more 90% classic... BUT I can respect a pure classic server and would gladly still play on it.
