Greetings fellow players!
< The Mystical Order > (http://www.themysticalorder.net//phpBB3/portal.php) in it's continued efforts to save dragon kind from a quick painful death is declaring the mighty red dragon Talendor (http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.html?id=5072) an off limits mob this week.
http://zam.zamimg.com/images/i/d/id5072.png
This magnificent beast comes equip with a SEARING fire dot and of course the standard dragon bellow so keep your resists up!
If a guild does get past these challenges and slays the great beast the rewards will be great!

Did you forget about the time when VD left up at least Gore, Vox, and Naggy overnight while TMO and TR/IB were on VP-lockdown? We just didn't broadcast it in Server Chat.
^^^ Not that I'm trying to take away from what TMO is doing here, its good to see other guilds get a shot without having to poopsock. I'm just stating a fact that this has been done before.

I actually feel like this would be more interesting if the next free target was not announced, but had to be discovered. However I guess someone would end up telling one of their friends in the other guilds and it would be up being unfair to everyone else so I guess this is not possible.

Nah, I think it's more of a political stunt if nothing else. Why would TMO need to do this? It's pretty clear to me that they've won EQ. What's left to do? I guess throttle the availability of mobs to feel like the good cop?
(Not that leaving shit up for other guilds to kill is a bad thing, mind you.)
I better stop now before I get told to go troll somewhere else or something.

We just want to bolster confidence in the other guilds so that they will compete for things eventually. Show them they can kill these things and encourage them to race us eventually.

When TR had a monopoly on mobs before the TMO merger they never gave ANYONE a chance at mobs.
Now that we ran them off the server we are showing we are the better guild by hopefully fostering a better community with the guilds at large,

I appreciate more shots at mobs, and I think it was very nice of TMO to start this "endangered dragon list"... but do you really think the reason casual guilds aren't competing is because they have low self-esteem?

Logging in at 9am cause you got a call on the batphone - most people are, well, you know, going to work at that hour to house and feed his/her family? Doubt it's an issue of confidence as much as it is time commitment. Sure it only takes 10 minutes to log in and kill a target when you get the call but between work, going to the gym, going out with friends, and you know having sex, not everybody is willing to drop everything on a whim and log into P1999. However, some are willing to put in the time and undertake the responsibility and that's why guilds like TMO exist.
With populations declining and people selling off characters (have you seen the EC forum lately?) it's pretty clear TMO is the only one left to do heavy raiding. I hope they don't really expect anymore competition - the reality is that there just aren't enough people in other guilds with the level of dedication as TMO members on this server. If they really want competition they should think about splintering their guild and competing amongst themselves.
It's definitely cool they are doing this promotion though - definitely lets the casual guilds kill a target a week with leisure. No doubt it's propaganda to make them look like the good guys while also expressing their dominance on the raid scene but only they really get off on it - everybody else is like "free shot at raid target? don't need to answer a batphone? awesome"

Well I'm not doubting TMO's quick defense of their play times and I'm not going to assume anything about their living, social, or work situations because in any case we should all remember the truth will be never be revealed.
That being said, it would make sense if upper-middle class (likely not "rich", more below) people played this game to raid heavily. Given TMO's borderline obsession with affirming themselves as "the best" it's obvious they have a great need to feel above others. When one considers the stressful nature and social politics of middle to upper-middle class jobs, P1999 provides an outlet where they can become irresponsible teenagers once again and feel like they "own" the world. The protective veil of the internet only catalyzes this transformation. "Rich" people likely do not play this game unless they suffer from an intense inferiority complex and need a window to vent their frustrations.
If P1999 didn't fulfill a great need, people wouldn't be willing to sacrifice their time on a whim to log into a game and lie to themselves about following strategies established years and years ago to win pixels to parade around, referring to them as "the best".
Well my analysis is done. Let's see if I'll be ripped apart or ignored this time.

most competitive people play to be the best, who wants to be the mediocre guy in a game?
If you think 10-20mins out of a day randomly is some huge time sink, you have a very shitty life.
Obsession. You could literally put everyone on all of p99 under the label of obsessive. Be it at being the best or hating on people who want to be the best to all sorts of other little titles.
Not everyone has to lie to themselves to enjoy logging in to kill something.
what strategy? This is everquest, ya nerd.
Someone is always going to be the best, no matter how many shitty people are playing, someone else will be shittier and jealous they suck and lack the basic comprehension needed to realize they just suck and make up excuses to seem less sucky.
Enjoy thinking up ways to demean and degrade people who play the game and want to be considered the best. There are millions of other haters in the world who do the exact same thing as you while also living shitty unimportant lives and have nothing else better to do but think of ways other people suck at life as much as you.

I can understand the point you're trying to make but can also assure you that the blanket type of categorization you're providing isn't gonna fly, and that's with out speaking on anyone else's behalf in the guild which I could easily do. I myself am 39, college educated with a career that pays well above an average income and I'll leave it at that. For me, EQ is now what is was back in 1999. Time away from work/kids/woman/stress and it's "me time" to do as I please and enjoy one of the best hobbies ever created. And for me, with my competitive nature, it's not enjoyable to be in a casual guild just playing and not competing in end game raiding.
if you're looking for a common thread in TMO members, that's what you'll find. Not a need to fill a void irl, but people that not only enjoy EQ, but wouldn't enjoy EQ without end game competition. It's not easy making VD and IB/TR your bitch, but the joy in the game is in doing so. :)

FUCK! I'll admit, I'm just like you guys in TMO. I love to be the best! I just wish your guild was on red so I could crush your skulls in while taking your loot.
I refuse to get into a guild to compete with you guys (which would be fun) only so that we can have our little shitty wars of trying to leapfrog over each other and see who can stay online the longest (which would not be fun).
IMO, TMO moves to red, I join you guys, and we destroy Nihilum in our quest to be the best.

Rordell is the type I was pinpointing in my post. Wife, kids, (stressful) career that pays well but likely has to kiss some ass. P1999 fills the void that allows him to be irresponsible and demeaning to others because he can't be that guy in real life. No shame in that, really - I'm glad you found an outlet. Some people burn it off at the gym playing basketball or a quiet game of chess - anything to feel like the king of the sandbox.

We play because we enjoy it. Just as on live, competitive guilds consist of people who are both capable and willing to play the game in this fashion. It's far easier to be in an "uber" guild these days. You're neglecting the advent of the Batphone and the tethered 4g cell phone. This has utterly revolutionized who can play when and where.
I find absurd the proposition that competitiveness is deep personality flaw.
However, I do find it telling that you're so adamant about sharing your psychoanalysis in such a forceful way. Perhaps psychology is the sandbox where you wear the crown? Or is a cigar sometimes just a cigar?

Everyone will always want status, even if it means stepping on the dicks of others.
That's human nature, man. No matter how much you over analyze it or how well written and intelligent your posts are, you can't change this important part of who we are.
People want status. People want power. People want to whip out their epeen and take measurements.
Sorry man, you might as well accept it.

I was actually going to sit here and type out a long detailed description of what a terrible job at human analysis you did but three things stopped me.
1. I'm sick and my 'fucks given' level is kinda low. high enough to post this but not high enough to go that distance
2. It's the internet and you're pretty obviously, judging by the poorly formed last bit of conclusions you just came to, a troll.
3. About 8 thousand people (or maybe 10. Whatever, I'm sick) beat me to the punch.
Either way I'll leave you with this piece of advice. Stop trying to be an expert of human nature on the internet. You did a terrible job so far and you need to stop.

Some people burn it off at the gym playing basketball or a quiet game of chess - anything to feel like the king of the sandbox.
this guy is confirmed sad... for being bad... true story.

At least...I hope yall realize that. These forums are merely excellent entertainment - the TMO brigade is a riot! Aside from the entertainment value, it's also just interesting to play with them and see how they respond to various attacks on their sense-valuation on P1999. You are aware that you've just admitted to being nothing more than a troll, right?
There is no winning here. However, since you've failed to offer a rebuttal to anything I've said, it could be taken to mean that you're losing. It is interesting that once you were backed into a corner you resorted to the "It's just for lulz" argument. It is my experience that people only use that one when they're too afraid to admit the possibility they might be wrong. I would wait for your reply, but I suspect the only address you'll make to my points are "it's not worth my time." If that's the case, save yourself the effort; we already know you're trolling.
It is, again, telling that you enjoy provoking people with insults and barbs. Since you're a fan of human nature, I suspect you'll have a DSM IV lying around. Try to find out what this whole insulting people for lulz thing is.

I'm glad you remember your training. I double majored in computer science and psychology and currently in grad school doing experimental work with machine learning and in particular natural language processing. Since MMORPGs model human interacts surprisingly well I actually use log files from these games in some of my research to collect data to analyze.
That aside and on a less computational level, I've always been fascinated with this concept of trolling and how people carry themselves on the internet. It's interesting to see how people interpret hostility or threat to status in a virtual environment where the aggressor stimuli is entirely fictional. As technology plays an increasingly important roles in our social lives, mapping contrived stimuli to appropriate natural stimuli and triggering correct behavioral responses will be important in human-machine-human interactions.

However, if you are truly doing this for some cause other than your own entertainment, I look forward to the fruits of your labor in the form of a peer-reviewed journal. That said, you admitted several posts earlier that you are specifically doing this for entertainment:

In light of this, what was the point of bringing up all of your "research?" Was it to inflate your social value in the eyes of others? Do you wish to "wear the crown" in the sandbox that is the P99 forum?

Pretty interesting read, actually. I have noticed certain elements of TMO react in different ways to different stimuli, usually in a very specific way. Usual trolling is met with even greater counter-trolling by Autotune, Tiggles, quido... when they can't keep up with the intellectual level of the debate, or can't be bothered to, Alarti and Frieza_Prexus pull themselves into the argument with heftier, well-written, logical, intelligent retorts.

There was nothing fun about it. Gorenaire is basically unkillable unless you're VD/TMO so 3 guilds threw 90 people at him until he died. Then Sev/Tal were both early AM spawns so guilds had to combine efforts to take them down (well not the Tal kill, I'm sure TMO did the heavy lifting there)

There were no 96 hour windows on raid mobs in classic. I think there was variance but I doubt it was more than a few hours. Someone who actually raided back then will have to chime in.
Tell me if I am wrong, but wasn't variance classic?
6-12 hours on some dragons, but most of it was a straight 7 day timer.
Here it is anywhere from:
3days +-18 hours Trakanon
3 days +-24 hours Maestro, Draco
7 days +-48 hours All other bosses
48-96 hour windows are completely unclassic on raid mobs.
On the other hand it spreads out the raids throughout the week/time zones so that more people have a chance to participate in raiding.

I don't really agree with that assessment. It takes a particular level of dedication to track at all hours of the day and batphone at all hours of the day on the quest for pixels. If things spawn between 2am and noon on a weekday I'm betting only TMO and VD could field a force of 30 people to down most high end targets.
Maybe at one point variance was good for the server but currently it only caters to the hardcore raiding guilds. Trak spawned at 2am last night and TMO smoked him with no competition. Most other guilds aren't going to wake up for pixels with work in the morning. I'd be surprised if Taken had more than 12 for talendor this morning.

+10000.
Variance was implemented because people would simply park 150 players on the spawn point, blow the mob away in 10 seconds, and then the GMs would have to check their encounter logs to figure out who won. It works by making raiding so annoying in terms of tracking and batphoning that most people don't do it.
achtung
04-17-2012, 12:00 PM
I don't really understand the dislike of variance. If there is no or minimal variance then the raid content is only available at a fixed time. If that time happens to be 4am then it's going to be 4am for weeks at a time. The people complaining that TMO gets everything because they are willing to track and batphone are going to be complaining that TMO gets the non-variance mobs because they spawn in the night or during work hours. Variance at least gives a chance of the mob spawning during casual guild prime time. Fixed 7 day cycle on the efreeti cycle in sky doesn't seem to be helping non-TMO guilds get those mobs. Also variance makes mobilization fun!

so i really though it was cool that tmo was leaving up a selected dragon each week till i found out that when talendor spawned and acyrid decided to give it a whirl with 4 groups tmo decides to take it out instead. so much for leaving a dragon up for others to play with. if u are gonna leave a dragon up...then maybe...just maybe u should do what u say u are gonna do
Lol Goodies, are you really that ignorant? You're Acyrid's leader and you really don't know, even after reading this thread, exactly what happened there?
You're ignoring the fact that people outside of US EST/PST prime time play this game.
If there were no variance at all, the same people whose scheduled matched up with the spawn would be there each week. People that live/work in different time zones/schedules would be out of luck. With a variance, any guild has a chance at stuff like Maestro/Innoruuk during a normal Hate clear. Just like draco/CT in Fear.

I mean, without a rotation of some sort, no guild other than TMO or VD will get high end mobs. And VD won't get many at that either. Ball's in TMO's court. Not saying that they have to do something or that they are obligated to, just that they are the decision makers here.

If you are really that concerned of their doings, they did exactly as they have been claiming since Gore:
(Quoted from Gore thread)
*We are still kinda mad at VD and may race them to any uncontested mob
** Mobs are chosen by Officer discretion and may change with out announcement
***TMO reserves the right to cancel this promotion as they see fit with out due compensation.

Translation: Teaming up with VD = Breaking their No-VD clause on Section Dragon, Article Potato.
Therefore, they stepped in and Denied VD, as per said. That's your fault for teaming up with them, not theirs.
That's the way the cookie crumbles.

so considering VD is/was the 2nd guild on the server, and it looks like they are getting back in to things, we can/should just assume that its back to business as usual around the server.
ah well, was fun for a few weeks
We are just enforcing our endagered raid targets list, in one of the other thread several vd members including metallikus(an officer) agreed to leave these targets alone for the rest of the server.
VD is welcome to compete with us on any other raid target, however we don't want their bad behavior rewarded. Hopefully, next target they will leave alone

just tell us when you want to leave a trak up for the other guilds and we'll honour that no problems :)
or you could just leave a trak up anytime in the next week since we arent raiding! /bonk
However, Peak is not an officer, nor did she agree to leave up the "Endangered Species" targets TMO has declared.
The "Endangered Species" targets are an agreement between TMO and the rest of the server, and VD has honored our place within that agreement. Please reserve your libel for RNF.
If VD declared we were leaving Trak up (a mob well within our power to kill, even now) for the rest of the server, would TMO honor that agreement?

So you still treat VD like the VD it was before all their core players left? They are half the guild they once were and are likely to get 1 target a week now, if that. TMO kind of QQed their core raid force off the server, so I would assume they are on the same playing field as Acyrid, BDA, Taken, Divinity now, unless your ultimate goal is to QQ the whole guild off the server. Kinda sad how the minions of VD have to pay for the "wrongdoings" of upper management until they remove the guild tag...I guess you guys need someone to troll.

I am prepared to negotiate the terms of Vesica Dei's transfer of guild leadership to a TMO controlled alt.
Once the guild is in our control we will assist in anyway to help switch all active members to another guild of there choosing or help them in a creation of a new guild.
Once the VD tag has been removed TMO will cease any and all aggressions towards any former VD members and will welcome them to the weekly dragon kills and race them fairly and with out bias towards any and all raid targets they choose to contest.
P.S. on a personal note I apologize for not posting as often and not being able to be reached in game. I was hospitlized recently with a bad cause of the flu that turned into other complications.

VD can declare they are leaving everything up, because you aren't getting kills.
TMO declaring we are leaving something up is us giving mobs we usually kill.
You have to actually be killing trakanon to give it up.

I think you need to decide if we are or are not competition. If you think we are, then choosing what gets left up shouldn't be unilateral.
Otherwise, if we aren't getting kills when racing you, why would we not go after things you choose to leave up? We do like killing bosses... and I don't think it's fair to say we are 'behaving badly' going after a target that you say we do not have the authority to leave up anyway.
I get that you're still getting a feel for where we are but it seems like one of the two options above needs to be chosen, rather than keeping a foot in both camps.

As it was said months ago in another thread it appears Taken is to TMO now such as VD was to IB... simply nothing more than a feeder guild who is their little sibling taking advantage of their big brothers way of doing things. Though TMO doesn't have to leave a mob up at all, if they want these other guilds who had nothing to do with VD actually respect them (for improving rather than dismantling the raid scene such as the guild prior) then helping another guild of casual/lower caliber isn't exactly smart because then they are doing the exact same thing IB was doing with VD to try and delegate mobs.
I don't think people are upset at the simple fact that they got involved, just the fact they got involved to the point of picking the guild they wanted to be rewarded when others felt as if they were on a level playing field. Doing the exact thing for Taken (multiple times mind you) that they hate and still hate VD for which was leeching off of IB... seems just a tad bit hypocritical.

You can have mobilization with simultaneous repops. In fact that's pretty much the only time you ever do have serious mobilization since casual guilds rarely ever compete for varianced mobs, due to not wanting to waste 96 hours of their life for pixels. I spent nearly 3 days tracking Talendor, that's ONE raid mob, that's more effort than anyone would have spent tracking a combined week's worth of raid mobs in classic. Moreover, many raid mobs are basically off limits because certain guilds are willing to poopsock them through their whole window. Every time I tracked for VS, there were over four groups of people from a single guild in zone, near his spawn point, at all times. For me or my guild to be unwilling to do that isn't a lack of dedication, or a lack of skill. The variance just allows the people with no lives to more easily bully the people who do have lives.
Do you really think it was like this in classic? You never had a single guild monopolizing all the raid content. The casual guilds on project 1999 or no less capable than those on Live. I wonder if it's because tracking raid mobs for up to 4 days straight is completely unreasonable?
You're ignoring the fact that people outside of US EST/PST prime time play this game.

This is an argument for a variance, not for a 96 hour variance. With a 24 hour variance the euros still get an equal shot at raid mobs.

The time I snagged sev for Taken, i think TMO might of had 4-5 people on Sev or healing. Taken did all the damage and was free to take all the loot. Not sure how Talendor played out, but it looks like TMO did exactly what it said it would do.
Considering TMO's past workings with Taken and how things work out well between them (without having to do everything for them like IB did for VD) I am not surprised TMO assisted Taken.
When something is spawned and you race another guild, you don't have time to debate about who is doing what with who. You choose what is most likely to work and go with it. Seems the obvious choice would be to work with Taken.
Grats Taken and sorry others feel so slighted. (well not really, couldn't give a shit less if you're sad you didn't get handed loot tbh)

Divinity doesn't have the numbers or diversity to do that. That is why. If you had a large guild roster like IB/VD and TMO had/has, then your guild could have easily done it as well. Most of you think that it's the same people doing it, well in fact, it's a few people doing a good bit of the work and a great deal of others helping feel in when they can. I can tell you now, no guild has enough people in that first category to dedicate it all to poopsocking an entire window for any raid target or even do all the tracking for the larger windows. Nearly every mob window has holes where there isn't a tracker on tracking. I think it's obvious why too. However, large recruiting and a diverse group of people will greatly increase your odds of someone being able to be online and tracking.
So do I think a 40man max guild is going to do what TMO does with a roster of about 120+? not a chance. Should you be pissed that TMO has a larger number of people than you so that they can use that advantage? nope.

TMO is no more skilled than any other guild on the server. It's all about the numbers. In fact, I'd be willing to say that having such large numbers probably leads them to be more sloppy, because they can be and get away with it. On a one to one basis, they are probably less skilled, though of course god/dragon loots covers up a lot of that as well.
I would also be willing to bet that TMO has more active players/raiders than all the other guilds combined.
There is no way to combat that, except to make a equal/larger force yourself. But apparently the rest of the server isn't interested in being in one large 200+ person guild.

Tracking simply takes too much time that it's not worth it. I get that there are shortcuts you can take and that you don't need to be tracking 24/7. I was lucky enough to be studying for an exam so I was at a computer the whole time, and it didn't take much effort to tab over and press "track" every few minutes. But usually I wouldn't be able to invest that much time. If our guild had over 100 active members maybe things would be different. I'm not bitter that TMO tracks raid mobs because they're doing what anyone else in their position would do. But having 30 people on a mob's spawn point at all times is a form of bullying, and that kind of behaviour should be condemned. I know it doesn't happen often, hell maybe it won't ever happen anymore without IB around, but that was what I dealt with whenever I tracked VS and that's what just one thing that motivates my attitude towards the raid scene.
PS: This is a red herring anyway since this kind of dedication wasn't required in classic, and this is a classic server.

I'll give you the easiet shortcut. Buy a dummy account, apply to TMO, get tagged to their batphone. when a target pops, tmo batphone will let you know thus allowing you to let your guild know, even though you will probably still lose to them in the end. no matter what you do, you will lose friend, YOU WILL LOSE until the day TMO self implodes. Like every great empire, it will collapse if not from outside, but from within

The man you quoted is partly right. While you ride the top seat you may not see any worthwhile competition, until the guild develops what could be a venomous or friendly rift and splits.
It will happen if your numbers/ACTIVE amount of people aren't monitored.
A happy kingdom, is a happy king. Don't forget it. It only takes 4-5 active clerics, 2 active warriors and the smallest imaginable piece of know-how to defeat Kunark.

So? The point of this server is to emulate classic Everquest, am I right? Variance is not classic. Patch days once per week (and the resulting server resets) are classic.
Who benefits from this is not really the point.
The time I snagged sev for Taken, i think TMO might of had 4-5 people on Sev or healing. Taken did all the damage and was free to take all the loot. Not True Not sure how Talendor played out, but it looks like TMO did exactly what it said it would do.
The not true was obviously added in by me as can be seen by screenshots... however the other bold text directly quoted doesn't quite match this video Talendor Kill (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=J_IhXbgstt4) considering it seems TMO vastly outnumbers Taken as it should appear obvious without TMO Taken would not have gotten any loot/kill. There is no problem with this, however trying to put up some sort of facade as if they aren't your version of VD or your relationship with them isn't similar to that of the IB/VD is wherein lies the hilarity of the situation. I am sure your other line will end up coming true as VD begins to try and raid again, the one where you imply that Taken would get all the targets if you wanted it that way.
TMO members have all said it... you don't really need loot and it is going to waste on many kills so you are bound to help stack the guild/players of your choosing which so far is Taken. The exact concept IB used with VD, so let's not pretend otherwise.

IB had a different use for VD. The only people that seem to not understand what it was is some TMO, all of VD (save a few), maybe a few IB apps and the entire rest of the server who was clueless to everything.
TMO doesn't need Taken at all, not even in the slightest. (nothing like the IB/VD "partnership")
I pulled Sev, I was there for the kill and watched as it was killed. TMO had very few in zone and it took awhile for Sev to be killed. Also, all of the loot was had by Taken. Not exactly sure what you mean by "not true, i've seen screenshots".
The Talendor situation is entirely different than Sev. Sev Taken was prepared for and we assisted with the pull and tanking/healing (if any tmo were assisting with DPS it would have been minimal). Talendor, from what i've heard, was going to be killed by VD or with the assistance of VD and that is why TMO did what it did.
Pretty sure if VD had stayed away, then TMO would have as well. The fact TMO gave Taken the loot was most likely due to prior experiences with them being pleasant as well as a few other factors I'm sure.
The only other obvious factor is that people are jealous and upset over loot. If TMO had choosen BDA or Divinity to give the loot to, that guild would be defending while others bitched and moaned about not receiving the goodies.
So, QQ more little short sighted homie.

you get the facts eh? so you were told that when this happened zeelot had clearly pulled and FTE'd talendor and brought him to our camp yet your combined raidforce aggro'd him and attempted to kill, right?
also, even though it was extremely early this morning, I seem to remember zeelot saying in vent that thunderstruck had casted on him when charmed because zee runed himself after your guild and VD stole the aggro. it was self defense situation since he was still high on the aggro list due to pulling and FTE'ing talendor.

This ^
IB/VD formed to compete against TMO...otherwise they had no chance... and as it has shows still had no chance. TMO allied with Taken to be friendly and to stop VD from interfering with our "endangered species list"
The point of the endangered species list is to allow the casual guilds, who normally would have little to no access to raid bosses, a chance for kunark/classic raiding.
Whether or not VD has the power/will to compete anymore will be decided in in the coming weeks. However, if any one guild starts dominating the "free mobs" then it defeats the purpose of the idea. Enforcement might be deemed necessary.
The fact TMO gave Taken the loot was most likely due to prior experiences with them being pleasant as well as a few other factors I'm sure.

TMO always had a disclaimer for these endangered dragons that if VD mobilized we would respond against it. We saw VD and Acyrid teaming up so, thinking that it would be unfair we helped out the smaller numbered guild.
VD claimed to take a break from raiding and now they're supposed to be back. VD teaming up with any guild would give an unfair advantage due to numbers. Although, apparently based on VDs showing from last night, they may really be dying out.
Their tactics sure haven't changed though. I grabbed Talendor with an eye, yet one of their members stole my pull. Then they brought Talendor onto our camp after they wiped. Glad to have you guys back!
Maybe you should teach your guys aggro 101 - your charmed players wouldn't have come for me had I not been first to aggro.
I did not cast or hit the dragon with anything. The only way to social aggro is when NPC is unaggro.
Anyways, Gorenaire is back up on the endangered species list next. Look forward to it!

Actualy seems alot of people still angry at VD for the struggles in vp , most of them would enjoy train wars but they deem memwipe to be a coward lame thing .
So in basic vd is a the species with problem since seems tmo will help any guild to kill the mob before it go to vd .
Zee doesnt joke when he said he would destroy vd , and unlike the gone officer core of vd when he menace he is serius .
what vd should do is grow balls and contact him to find a new statement by the new officers .
if its true new vd officers rate their guild as a casual one as it was before the ib marriage i bet zee will show some kind of mercy.
otherwise i bet tmo will still have VD as main competition and will show in numbers and we know what will happen .

dunno why you thought to bold the word "gave". I'm not sure how else to say TMO didn't take any of the loot from the joint kill. I honestly doubt it matters what word choice you use, the end result was the same.
If you are implying that Taken didn't deserve it? well, TMO already decided to pass on the loot by putting the dragon on the list. TMO said VD wasn't allowed to participate without TMO intervention. The loot that was on that dragon went to a guild that was allowed to participate.

Their tactics sure haven't changed though. I grabbed Talendor with an eye, yet one of their members stole my pull. Then they brought Talendor onto our camp after they wiped. Glad to have you guys back!
There are two sides to every story, so I'll give you ours on this as well. Here is how it was laid out to me (I was running to Skyfire on Lunah for about 90% of this, since a bogey on my six chromadrac thwarted my in-progress Eye of Tallon Talendor pull on Astizen shortly before):
Quiggley (Acyrid Druid) and Thunderstruck (VD Wizard) go out to pull Talendor. They get out to around VP entrance, find Talendor, and Thunderstruck pulls him using eye.
They run back to camp, but repeatedly say Talendor is taking a long time to get there. Quiggley was tracking Talendor behind him until his max tracking length timer hit and he dropped tracking on him. I just say that all the Kunark dragons run fairly slow, and that this is normal so it should be fine.
After we get a visual on Talendor, it becomes clearly apparent that he is not headed for Thunderstruck, but someone in TMO's camp.
I ask in vent if Thunderstruck is certain he successfully pulled Talendor eye with, he says says, so I say they are stealing our pull, take it back and engage.
We engage (this is where I enter camp finally), we hear in vent from Thunderstruck and Tanken that they have been killed by Zeelot (I thought maybe he was charmed, but it turned out they were), and eventually we wipe.
And that's about the end of it. If you have fraps evidence of your eye pull with timestamp, then I suppose you have a case to submit to the support staff, but if not then the only factual evidence we have of who had FTE was, from what I understand, lost when Talendor reset. I wasn't making a stink about it because the only other evidence in my hands had come from your mouth, and the mouth of my guildmate, neither of which is enough to prove either side was right in the eyes of The Queen. So I dropped it until you decided to make this post.
And while I didn't see what happened after we wiped (I was dead obviously), I can assure that we did not attempt train you, but it is more than likely you trained yourselves after you and your guildmates engaged our members that were charmed by Talendor and added yourselves to his aggro list. Anyone that interacted with you, or directly with those that were charmed by Talendor, should have cleared their aggro by either zoning, fd'ing, or camping.

Jomar
04-18-2012, 03:27 AM
I will say that regardless of what truly happened yesterday morning, this is one of the many reasons why the lone true raid rule of "FTE" needs to modified. There have been dozens upon dozens of other encounters before this where a guild thinks they have FTE, only to find out later on that they did not (although you can admit that Eye of Innoruuk does look nice in my offhand ;)).
There are some cases where it's almost impossible to tell who has FTE, and so it just becomes a big awful ball of everyone engaging at once and trying to get XP so that they can get ahold of the items before Amelinda makes a ruling. As we've seen often, the guild that loot the items, regardless of whether or not they had FTE, often winds up getting to keep those items in the end (even if they are awarded to the other guild who actually had FTE as well), which is an incentive in-itself to reward dirty play.
Other cases, like last night, involve gathering whatever information you have and making judgement calls off of it, and whether they turn out to be the correct one or not can oftentimes get lost in the mechanics of the server.
I've said it several time to members of both your guild and my guild that we really should work together to improve the rules of the server so that it ensures a more fair playing field. I'm not talking about eliminating competition, as the opportunity to compete against people who are so knowledgeable about the game is one of the huge draws of this server, just eliminating borderline dirty tactics like:
-one single person tagging a mob as another guild runs in to engage in order to be awarded the loot
-parking a pet on a mob's spawn point and establishing a camp at a spot that provides ample enough time for a guild to mobilize despite that being a tactic very similar to what used to occur at VS (which is no longer allowed)
-or establishing your camp in a location in between yourself and the competition so that the competition has no choice but to "train" you in order to successfully proceed with an encounter.
A lot of this shit needs to go, and I just hope there are enough people who agree so we can try and get them changed.
Rogean is clearly back around now, so I don't see what it would hurt if we tried to develop a set of rules that produce a more clear-cut outcome at the time of kill for raid encounters instead of relying on staff decisions to determine every outcome, and then presented that set of rules to him.

Just an idea, but if you aren't sure whether you're on talendor's aggro list or not, just hide. If he cons threateningly then you've aggroed him, if he cons indifferent then you haven't. It's possible you used an eye of zomm but that Talendor's ae killed it, which would not add the eye to his aggro list. I'm not saying this happened or is likely - I wasn't there - but you should probably confirm you have fte if you're pulling a contested mob since an eye of zomm dying does not necessarily mean that it got aggroed.
edit: Also if we had simultaneous repops, guilds would not be simultaneously engaging mobs as often, leading to less FTE disputes and less need for GM intervention. Just saying!

simple is better.. been said before .. just zone wide shout.. clear to everybody in zone..

its a tradeoff but I don't think it changes the way the game is played a whole lot.. and it probably makes it easier for guides / GM's to sort stuff out too instead of digging through all the logs.

I'm not sure about hide, but I know for those that use invis to conceal themselves, they'll still appear as scowling to outdoor dragons (unless they have threat-or-better RoS faction of course) regardless of whether or not they are on their aggro list since those mobs see through invis. So I don't think this idea would've really worked for determining Thunder's aggro status on this particular mob. (edit: could be wrong on Talendor seeing through invis, hell if I remember. I remember Fay and Gorenaire seeing through invis though.)
And as far as eyes goes, pretty much as soon as it draws aggro from a mob, you're on the aggro list since an eye is just an extension of your character. Doesn't matter if the mob speed bumps your eye first (I think this only happens with green con mobs), it's coming for you in the end. I mean I may be wrong here, but I've tested it quite a bit and I had aggro on me every single time.
(Simulated patch days and zonewide fte shout are good ideas in my book.)

Remember invis and hide are not the same thing. A mob has to be tagged to 'see' both in completely separate columns in the database. That's not to say these dragons don't see hide, they may very well. And as raid mobs it's a pretty damn good bet they do. Most raid mobs do. I'm simply saying remember the fact see-invis != see-hide.

Jeremy looks like Jonah Hill confirmed.
Pictures removed from RL pic thread in haste when he began insulting others.
Haha! The few pictures of myself that I have shared are still on the internet in the same locations. I edited my post sharing that picture because I thought it was tacky sharing a topless photo of myself. I only ever did so in the first place because that thread was the "new" RL pic thread at the time and I didn't take it seriously; everyone was sharing tacky topless photos.

Apparently they are trying to bully you guys off the server. They're dangling dragons in front of VD and offering them to anyone else but you guys and shutting you guys out of every mob they can, not because they want the loot but because they want to keep the loot from you. They see partial success by having a good chunk of the VD leadership quit so they launch this dragon endangered list just to tow the line even further.
I'm just curious once they figure out they can get away with this behavior which guild is next when they step up to be real raid competition for TMO.
Lets face it, no matter what VD ever did to TMO in the past there is no excuse for this behavior and there's no promise it won't happen again to every single guild on the server until there's no one left but themselves and pixels.

banned from TS? I've never set foot in your TS, guess you need work on your detective skills.
Alarti your insults need work also as yours applies to your own statement, if you can't fathom what i meant yourself sounds like you need to get educated and seeing as i'm not a teacher i'm not going to explain it to you.
Lol, so now you leaves us with a statement that's makes no sense then you say you understand it but you won't tell me what the secret is.
Doesn't this remind you of a child who says I know something you don't know but won't tell you because in reality he is craving attention

Vd is fully allowed to compete with tmo on any mob, if they want the free dragons they have to compete with tmo, all the free dragons do is offer a non-compete raid to other guilds who don't get to do them
How is this hard to understand

Here is my personal thoughts on VD vs TMO or how ever you want to state it.
VD was used by DA to beat IB in sky back in classic- we all got loot from this- kunark hit and DA did the whole stupid mergeing thing and all sorts of stupidness happend... by all in all DA basically split to TMO and IB/TR - the DA members that moved to TMO gave them the numbers and some gear to start ramping up the raid scene.
Fast forward some more- TMO starts to beat IB/TR in some encounters- IB/TR starts to loose their standard members that always get geared from being 'pal' status - and awate VP/Velious- so they start to use VD to boost their numbers etc etc
Fast forward to TR/IB starting to leave the server- or whatever you belive-- VD says "We are = to ib/tr and > TMO we should get XYZ" - TMO says no we are not handing you mobs you must prove it.
Fighting to get into a top-tier raid position on this server is hard, it was a long hard road in DA to get into even a 20% share of raid mobs vs TR/IB and harder to keep that foothold and increase it.... so TMO is not going to GIVE it to VD-
Fast forward some more- VD failed at asserting themselves as the guild they claimed to be- members and leaders QQed and made up whatever reasons they wanted to move on- thats fine, EQ is a game- enjoy playing or dont play...its a game bros.
All the while 'other' guilds where QQing that they 'could not' get any type of foothold because of the infighting between whatever top 2 forces on the server are- well thats BS imo- but Zeelot for whatever reason starts to say to leave one dragon up and only to mess with it if VD shows up- why? because remeber VD you all claimed to be the top and wanted to compete with us- so we are only doing what you all wanted... now maybe if your leaders admit you are nothing more than a scrub guild then you can maybe talk to the guilds above you into letting you into their uncontested dragons- but I dunno if Taken, BDA etc will want you to move up to their level yet.

Here's a good analogy. The Washington Wizards and the Miami Heat are both in the NBA, but what are the odds the wizards will beat the heat in a game.. I highly doubt they are your competition anymore.

VD says "We are = to ib/tr and > TMO we should get XYZ" - TMO says no we are not handing you mobs you must prove it.
From my viewpoint (as a VD in case you don't read my sig), VD did not try to claim we were better than TMO, but that we can slay any dragon TMO can. I'm not trying to downplay your effort in getting to the top, you guys busted chops, threw countless members at mobs, lost, and worked tooth and nail for your position. I see that you are at the top, you earned your place, and you do feel like sharing the top about as much as a kid wants to give up his ice cream cone. That's fine.
What VD was advocating with TMO was a rotation for the biggest poopsock of all, Trak. He's in window as much or more as he's out of window, and he's a 3-day spawn. He's just a large pain in the ass for everyone 'socking.
With respect to VP, VD wanted to continue the agreement TR/TMO had when they entered into VP for the first time. TMO claims anyone can walk into VP, but the two guilds who started in VP had:
1) a forced rotation which allowed you to obtain initial pixels without training and/or other nonsense which is legal in VP
2) a chance to hone PVE raid tactics before adding the PVP aspects (not being forced to master both at the same time)
3) a chance to set up CoH/track bots without PVP
4) a chance to explore pathing, pulling, other zone mechanics in a controlled environment (without the PVP)
Basically, VP was a PVE zone between the two guilds, and now TMO wants to claim anyone can enter and compete within it as a PVP zone, without admitting the obvious advantage they have/had. I'm not saying VD is ready to compete, I'm not saying TMO couldn't have competed if it had been PVP from day 1. But I am saying, on top of being the only guild actively raiding VP, the barrier to entry is raised higher than even TMO had when TMO entered.
The barrier for competition is to the point where its high enough that it doesn't look like anyone is going to bother to compete. Do I care that I'm not in VP? Eh, I'd like to see it. Do I think its worth the effort to get into VP? Not in the slightest. Right now, TMO is "the house". The odds are stacked in the house's favor, and anyone playing to beat the house is delusional.

With respect to VP, VD wanted to continue the agreement TR/TMO had when they entered into VP for the first time.
When VP opened there was no agreement between TMO and TR. It was Train-a-palooza '11. It was after both guilds showed they were basically equal, but wasting each others time, that an agreement was temporarily established.

Xadion, just listen to what you are saying here. Imagine that you are playing Super Mario Brothers at home, and your friend says "Oh ho ho, you didn't *really* beat that level, because I wasn't there trying to beat that level first!". The idea that you you get stuff "handed" to you when you, you know, kill monsters in the game, is so mind boggling silly that it's amazing I hear it from every TMO member I meet. I mean by this logic every time I see TMO camping the fungi king I should race them until they prove to me that they can . . . I mean this whole idea doesn't even make sense, so I can't continue my analogy.
The simple reality is that TMO is full of people who derive a huge amount of self esteem from having pixels and being in the top raid guild, and put in a lot of time to get there. Then suddenly everything makes sense - they want to keep the bar to entry as high as possible; it's the same reason Szeth hated simultaneous repops. To be honest, I understand that feeling - I had the second enchanter epic on the server, so I got to be part of the 1% for a few weeks. Now everyone and their brother has one, so I'm not special. But hey, I can live with that.

Have target shout who has FTE.
Remove people from sitting themselves/pets on top of a raid mob spawn.
Problem solved. If a guild still has the balls to break the rules after these two fixes, eat a raiding ban.

I'm almost certain Talendor does not see through hide (but sees through invis), since Gorenaire is the same way. I can hide from Gorenaire but regular invis will not work. So yes, hide does work to determine if you're aggroed.
As for the eye, I don't think you understood what I said. If the eye dies, that doesn't mean you aggroed Talendor. Talendor could have already been aggroed and the eye just got hit by an ae, for example. A mob aeing you does not put you on its aggro list necessarily. I tested this with a non-kos Bard against Gorenaire, got hit by her ae, and I was still apprehensive after.

Your analogy never made sense, comparing a single player game to an mmo is just asinine. Eq wqs always a competition for raid mobs, until instancing, and are in now way comparable to fungi king, lol
Your second paragraph is opinion not reality, we actually want people to compete against
