Hypothetical: You want to see and know every nook and cranny of EQ zones and how agro/mobs react.

With that being said what would be your Character chioce?

While any Char. can do this to a degree I am assuming that some are better then others. Example might be a Priest class that stays mostly at camp while the puller finds mobs.

Ok so maybe a puller is best or a rogue who can sneak.

My thoughts are Monk, Bard, Rogue, Other?

Necro

Invis (insta cast with CoS)
Invis vs. Undead
Feign Death
Harmshield
Gate
Breath of the Dead (underwater breathing)
DMF (Levitation)

I don't think any other class comes close in terms of being able to "go anywhere, do anything" like a Necro can.

Shadowknight/Monk/Necro are the best for that. If you want to know the ins and outs of aggro / how mobs react you probably want a FD class.

Agro on average is pretty much the same for most mobs in that zone. Each zone is different because not the same Drevs designed all the zones.

For just running around to explore mobs a Bard would be the best. They can cross some zones in like 15 seconds high level. But to get close enough time after time to check agro, I would agree a toon with FD is the way to go.

Doesn't an SK get all of that plus can take some hits? Not sure what lvl the gate hammer starts procc'ing but after that they make pretty good explorers.

This.

Also you can have a pet around to buy you time when you need it, you can lull (albeit only undeads and only with LoS), you get an intra-zone evac, you can summon your own corpses, you can rez yourself, you can locate corpses, you can mez, you have mana.......

You get the picture. Necros are boss.

Pretty sure you don't need LoS, well I didn't last time I used it in HS, if it wasn't patched in between.

I'd go for monk or SK. If you want to see everywhere, you need to be able to take some beating. And necros can be in big trouble when FD fails, and casting keeps being interrupted. Necro easiest to level up though (monk 2nd, with twink gear).

you don't need LoS anymore. Previously it was required. I remember being in lguk and getting pissed that paladins and clerics didn't need los to lul undeads when i did.

If you want to explore, test aggro range and so forth, necro is gonna be your best choice if you can do it without taking hits.

If you want to do the above but possibly take hits or aren't sure what you're doing, i'd go Sk or Monk.

Monk has the easiest learning curve, but has limitations. Necros have a higher learning curve but the least amount of limitations. SKs are in between (but excel when testing mob dmg).

Very few cases i wanted to be an SK over a necro to test something. Last time i can remember, it was wanting to test wurms in VP to see what they did (melee dmg and their AEs)

Ahh, yeah. I haven't played a necro since very early in Kunark on here. Just remember always having to IVU + DMF to get up on that fountain in frenzy, then back up against the wall so that I was floating high enough to have LoS to lull before breaking the spawn.
