View Full Version : Noob Necro on a budget- 5k
Hey all, I have about 5k to spend on a Necromancer, level 12. I know they don't need much, but, it would be nice if I could get a few suggestions on low-end items to buy. The wiki has some costly options and I'm not sure if it's built around the lower levels. I expect to be less than level 30 till around the end of the summer.
I think what I would be lookin to up would mainly be my HP and AC with Mana/int when possible. I could be wrong on this.
Should I go for one big item or try to fill the slots? A few nice items and whatever I can find cheap 50-100pp to fill the rest?
Thanks for the help.
Also on a side note, the nice items have -cha, is this for longer fears or less resists? Should I go for it at lower levels?

buy 100-1k items. runed cowl, silversilk leggings, kobold hide boots, impskin gloves, harvester, 5/55 rings, embroidered black cape, etc..

casters dont really need to be twinked imo.
My druid was wearing a full suit of those leather armor Ive gotten from CB belt quest until the miod 20s. No wis rings or anything, wis was stuck at base wis.
It wasnt until i started to quad kite, then i feel the need for a big mana pool.
My new alt is a necro, and the only thing i feel really benefits him are the 5/55 rings.

I would go for looks. It's not like you need much.
Froglock Bonecaster Robe 2500
2x Platinum Fire Wedding Ring 250 each
Harvester 400
Staff of Writhing 100
ShadowBound Boots 300
ShadowBound Gloves 300
Done and done. NOW you're a Necromancer.
Fill out the rest with hps/ac/resists in roughly that order.

tattered tomb shroud the best looking necro robe in the game imo.

Aha, thanks for reminding me of that option. It also has nice stats and should be even cheaper.
And no, CHA has no effect on anything having to do with charm, if you are a Necromancer or Druid.

all I read was the title, and I say spend all 5k on jboots. it will be better than any stat items

Gotta agree, the other items are helpful but not going to make a huge difference. Yet these two are exceptional items.

jumpy robe, and some kinda decent weapon. Also lots of hp/mana items like rokyl's channeling crystal.

Cone of the Mystics like 2k
Rokyls Channeling Crystal like 2k
Thanks for all the help. I'm a bit new, so this may be noob but, the jboots give you sow right? If that's the case I'll probably go for that for sure. The headpiece is a invis spell? I can cast the same one at lvl 8 right? Could someone elighten me on the value of this piece pls?

Circlet of Shadow is good because it is insta-click invisibility, which will be removed someday in velious era, due to its power with pulling with fegein death.
Jboots are always a correct choice at 5k if you can ever find someone selling

Jboots (http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Journeyman%27s_Boots) + CoS (http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Circlet_of_Shadow).
Those two items will change your game more than any other item in the game until FT gets introduced in Velious (and good luck finding 5kPP FT gear).
