blue log in still seems to be down...someone i was talking to pointed out (and they have posted this in the forums) that it seems to happen weekly at the same time each week and is likely a bit of server code that could be written better to either a) not break the log in server every time it runs or b) not be set to happen sunday night, when there are no guides/devs around to fix it. hopefully a guide is in IRL or something and this gets fixed soon :(

well yeah, there have been a bunch of outages, but if you search the forums for threads like this one, i think you'll find that every sunday night aroudn the same time people post the log in server is down, and you should also see that it started with the last patch...random outages are going to happen, but predictable ones probably mean there is a bit of code that should be changed

damn it, again. this time i'm the healer in MM and had to zone from aggro and couldn't go back in to help. group probably died.

wtf is this happening for all the time? it doesn't seem hard to monitor a login attempt as a heartbeat check every few minutes, and reboot when its doesn't work after issuing a "Server reboot in 2 min" broadcast in-game Message.

like everyone else, i stare at the EQEmu or p99 site population count and watch it just fall - sometimes for hours - before someone/something even notices?

automate it.


i know its free. i'm not asking for a human to keep babysitting it. if you're smart enough to have a server, site and supporting tools i see then you're smart enough to have a simple automated login monitor as i mentioned, right?

i feel like if you tried to automate something like that, people could/would find a way to bug it out by logging in and disconnecting at the same time, forcing a reset, which would be a pain for everyone else. I mean maybe it could be done, but seems a bit iffy to me

This is a new issue, i'm sure devs are well on there way to a salutation. This project is one of the greatest, overall.

Yeah I couldn't imagine being this being my first week, hearing nothing but good things about the server, then having so much trouble connecting.

...But then on the other hand, if anyone remembers actually playing EQ in '99 vividly then this is a very good representation of how stable the servers were back then. So maybe it's all for the sake of immersion..

Lol i started during the Ddos attacks, couldnt play for more than 5 mins at a time, if lucky enough to get on in the first place, for weeks. Todays downtime has been a little more extream that the usual, lately but it's still way better than my first month lol.

Until an automated fix is implemented (or a permanent fix), could they not just add a script line to flag an email to be sent out to all developers (or administrators) via some sort of mobile device such as blackberry, iphone, ipad etcetc

I can log in to other servers, but not to the blue server.
Blue has been showing 20 on the server, decreased from earlier 32.
So, either the login server is unhappy with blue, or blue is busted.

I wonder if any of the admins are in Europe...seems to be they only fix it after it's been down several hours which usually results in the server coming back up around noon time EST.

For all the Euro players and early bird US players, this means they wait all day for it to be dealt with.

It's also doing something different this time. When you log in, you don't always get the 'patch server' message /error.

Totally support this and it's been suggested multiple times in the past.

I don't believe that's the issue though; I perceive it to be that the admins or people with the server rights, are all US based and often asleep or at work when this happens.

Totally support this and it's been suggested multiple times in the past.

I don't believe that's the issue though; I perceive it to be that the admins or people with the server rights, are all US based and often asleep or at work when this happens.
