Hi guys.

i'm a old EQ player and neeeeeeeed to play again however I don't have a computer anymore.

I will buy a laptop. I can't quite remember specs wise what would cut it. I'll be buying a budget laptop.

If I recall EQ was very ram intensive - other specs werent important?

I can get this baby for 600$ AUS and I just got paid today.

ASUS laptop.

I remember playing eq up till luclin with a P3 350mhz a tnt2 vid card and like 250-500 mb of ram. You would have to try pretty hard to find something that cant run eq without luclin models well enough to play.

I play EQ on my work laptop and it chomps through it easily (It is great, that way I can game while sitting next to the wife!)

These days you could probably even boot it up on your fridge....

I think one of the guys on the server is playing EQ on his cell phone... Don't worry about specs that much. ;D

Almost any budget laptop nowadays will run EQ without a hitch. Jump in and get it :)

And yes, that laptop will blow the req's away. You'll be able to play with everything on high.

lol. i remember in 1999, my clip plane was on like 10% on my packard bell 133mhz with 16gb of ram :p Took about 2 minutes to get from server select to character select.

And then i crashed on zoning all the time too :p

Haha, yea EQ isn't very taxing on a system. I remember when it first came out, I had like a 166Mhz AMD with 64MB RAM, and a Diamond 3d card (just about the cheapest 3D card you could get).

My FPS was really crappy, and the graphics were all boxy, because that's all my system could render. I remember how much better it looked when I picked up a new 200 Mhz cpu and doubled my RAM. Then Kunark came out, and it was a slide show again- remember running through FV with the swaying trees trying to get to LOIO without getting smoked by the DE spiders? lol fun times.

I ran EQ on a 500mHz PIII with 128Mb of RAM and an 8MB TNT video card back in the day. It ran pretty well. Eventually I stepped up to a 1.4GHz Athlon (it smoked the 1.7GHz P4s of it's day) with 1GB or RAM and a 64MB video card, which crushed EQ's requirements at the time.

There are people playing on netbooks (1.6GHz Intel Atoms are equivalent to 800MHz Pentium Ms roughly).

Only problem I see with that computer is EQ might crash at launch. Either change the resolution in the eqclient.ini file, or change your computer's resolution to 1280x800 for the first time you run it. After that change it back to 1440x900 and it'll open in a 1280x800 window for you and you'll be good to go. I've seen this occur on several 1440x900 laptops.

VNC and you need a computer running at home. it's not being run natively on the device.

I ended up taking the budget (yet frustrating) way of upgrading my 3 year old macbook to snow leopard, bootcamping, installing XP, and I'm now downloading the titanium client.

I woke at 6am to start this process, and its now 11am. I love being a nerd. course, 2 hours ago I was going to kill someone when I couldn't get ethernet drivers to work... :)

LOL yep. Pretty well at that!

Any PC you could possibly build now in the $500 range will run P99 just fine though.
Thats less than my phone cost me ironically
