I was wondering if anyone could explain to me how the skill ups work in spell research.

I found on the FAQ on EQ traders a formula, but I dont know if it applies here on P1999.

Q: Is the Spell Research skill capped?

A: The formula for the cap on research USED TO BE 5 * (Your level - 15). Therefore, at level 16, you could only have 5 points in it. At 19, the skill cap would have been 20. But, as of February 15, 2005 (DoN launch) the level caps on tradeskills were removed. You still must be level 16 to learn the skill, but after that you can skill up all the way to the new maximum, 300.

as a 31 enchanter, how do you know what pages will still give skill ups?
or what pages are to high?
Is there a spell craft trival listing anyone knows of?
Do you go by the spell level the pages can make?

Hiya,
If you haven't yet found a note on it, this may help.

Skill ups are gained by making Practice Runes and combining them (up to a certain point) or by combining Pages based on your skill level.

If you can, spend your level gain points on it until it says you can't gain any more skill that way. I think that would get you to at least 20(ish) with out the stress of Runes or Pages.

Research was trainable past 20, depending on level, until research was was rebuilt from the ground up, around the depths of darkhollow expansion I think. It was expensive, but a hell of a lot faster than farming research components.
