No, those kids are assholes, pure and simple and are likely the result of bad parenting and giving in to every single demand. They should be charged it's too bad she's such a nice lady and said she didn't feel threatened even though she was threatened bodily harm and death.

While it's great you want to help her, and I myself would have donated had I known/had the cash to spare. The half a million bucks she has accumulated over this and more is overkill. Way overkill. The original goal of 5 grand alone would have put her on vacation anywhere she wanted to go, across the globe, for at least 2 weeks (more depending on the location) and likely had some left over. 10k would have made her fucking set. But now? She basically just won the lottery. Wanna know how I know? In the day since I first looked at this, looking at it again, it went up more than 40k dollars. In the time it takes me to type this it went up almost 2k. In the 29 days it has remaining I'd be surprised if it doesn't cap off at 1 million dollars give or take several grand. 1 million dollars for that? They were a bunch of douchebag teenagers doing what, sadly, every fucking jackass teenager does these days. None of the shit they said was even that hurtful compared to what a lot of other people say. Hell compared to what you see on these forums. Just about everyone on the planet suffers abuse like this at some point in their lives, some more or less than others but it happens to everyone. Where's their $1,000,000?

Likely somewhere near the middle judging by the seats surrounding her and the number of people that pass to get off the bus (the seats indicating it's not the front, the passing people indicate it's not the back...unless they get off via the fire escape). The kids weren't overly loud, especially amongst the background children and the loud ass ear rape that is the sound of a moving school bus (or any other heavy diesel vehicle. I rode the bus when I was in high school If there's one thing I will never forget about my school experience it's how fucking loud that thing is between the other kids and the bus itself during the drive home. And the louder it is, the louder people talk, it gets even louder etc) and she sure wasn't making any noise to indicate the situation. Odds are the driver didn't hear, or even know, this was going on until the bus' route was complete.

The issue is that some of todays youth is morally corrupt. People are just not growing up and functioning in society as worthwhile humans like they should be. If my child were any one of those bullying this old lady i would probably beat them. My children would never do this though because I teach them compassion and empathy. These are things lacking in a lot of todays youth. I think it's partly because the internet offers people the chance to be total douchebags anonymously and they believe it's okay to be total jerks. THEN couple that with parents who don't give enough of a fuck to actually raise their kids and/or monitor what their kids watch on tv (or use tv as a babysitter) and you have a recipe for disaster.

I grew up in a rural community, Junior high school & High school rode the bus together. the schools started at the same time. The kids on my bus ran off 4 female bus drivers and the male bus superintendent in about 3 months... NOBODY wanted to drive our bus. There was one kid on our bus who set the bus on fire on the regular. He would set the back seat on fire, then move to another seat then stand up and make a big deal about how he smelled smoke etc. He would get suspended from the bus and then his mom would ultimately go to the school board and complain about it and it would get lifted. He always had weapons on the bus & at school, he was verbally abusive to everyone. He wasn't the only bad kid. He was just really the worst. The first bus driver they ran off had been driving the same route for 20 years. She lived in my neighborhood. Some kids from the bus set stuff on fire in her yard, they'd prank call her, they'd show up at her house when she suspended them from the bus etc.

After the bus superintendent refused to drive our bus the school board made us and our parents go to a meeting and we had to sign behavior contracts for the bus and acting up on MY bus got you in more hot water than if you acted up on a different bus.

Nothing was ever really done to those kids and ultimately the problem with them was a pattern of their parents allowing them to act like total shitbags. Some of them are successful in life now and have changed.

The kid who used to set the bus on fire? He overdosed 6 years after we graduated.

The problem is in the parenting. Kids are sneaky but kids don't suddenly become total shitbags overnight. You should see warning signs.

Every time those kids on my bus ran off a bus driver, it made me sad for society (This was years ago. This was roughly 20 years ago that this happened.) I really wished i could do something nice for those ladies. They ran off the COOLEST bus driver we could have ever hoped for because they found out her husband was black (She was white) and they proceeded to start writing racist messages on the back of seats etc. They found out who her son was at school and started harrassing him there. Just no reason for it whatsoever.

I think you people who are mad at this lady need to do a little soul searching. She didn't ASK for people to donate money. Pretty much the story just somehow came out and went public and it got media attention. Some other independent person decided to ask for money to send her on a nice vacation.....She didn't have an entitled attitude. Does this lady deserve money? No. Is it awesome that she got money? Yes. Should these kids be severely punished? Yes. Should the parents of these kids have some repercussions (maybe financial where it really hurts?) Yes.

I would also like to add that we did not have 'major' issues at schools when corporal punishment was allowed... This was not necessarily a function of 'beatings' making things better, but it was a function of teachers actually having the ability to discipline (or fight back) when kids are totally out of control.
