Hi All

I am tempted to have a go at project 1999. But I have a few questions first if that is ok!

I played EQ from '00 (Kunark) to 2006 ish (DoD). And since played WoW etc.

What I miss most about EQ is chatting to people. You can't do that in modern MMO's as you are too busy spamming skills. And nowadays in WoW if you even try talking to people they just ignore you.

Anyway!

I was wondering if there is much of a 'community' on the blue server. I notice there are around 150 ppl online atm, which isn't many, but would also be plenty if you all get along and play together.

Are there many guilds, or too many guilds? Like in WoW you'd have '000s of guilds with <10 players online. Surely it would be better to have 100 guilds with 100 people online..

When is Velious due? This was my favorite expansion hands down and it would be great to come back and level to 50 before this expansion. Did the lvl cap raise to 60 with SoV or was that Luclin?

Is the levelling rate like it was during Vanilla (hell levels etc)? I don't know that I have time now to invest like I did when I was young and free.

I could probably find this out by searching, but I'm too lazy. Is the server EU or US? Are there many EU players on at EU prime time? Are there players from all over Europe. This is another thing I missed in WoW. Blizzard wants every country playing on their own server. Which might be great for pings but I miss playing with the Mighty Danes and Swedish (and others).

Lastly, what classes are most in need? Happy to heal if necessary...

Cheers
Ryan

The server has a daily cycle that roughly follows US times, so as the US enters the evening, the population will spike, and then go down again as US folks head to bed. The server was at ~1000 during US evenings while much of the server leveled 50-60, now its down to ~500 during the same times.

The community is great if you exclude the end-game. There's always shenanigans around non-instanced content at the top, but otherwise the rest of the game has a great community.

Velious is in heavy development by Nilbog and crew. He posts occasional threads asking questions regarding Velious. As for a timeline, a lot of people are anticipating this fall for Velious beta, but this is speculation and there is no official word.

The leveling rate is classic, and class experience penalties will remain until Velious (yay paladins leveling 40% slower than warriors [/sarcasm off]).

There are enough players on this server that nothing is "needed", so play what you want. With that said, there is a tank shortage in the low-mid game (L10-50), and you can't have a dungeon crawl without a tank and healer (usually cleric). But honestly, leveling takes so long that you are better off playing what you enjoy than playing "whats needed".

You can definitely chat to people here. Peak numbers for the server are actually back over 500 if you play at those times. It is a top heavy server since it has been around a bit of time, but I find there are lots of new people as well as people leveling alts. Finding a group in many of the more frequently populated areas like Mistmoore, Sol B, Unrest, KC isn't too tough. You will probalby need to bring your own group to some places like Droga, Kaseora etc..

There are fair number of guilds, particularly if you are jus leveling. Not a massive amount but they have decent numbers.

Uncertain when Velious will come out. The Devs are working on it but this is a free project so they have to balance this with real life. The server currently has Kunark enabled so the level cap is 60.

Yes there are hell levels and class xp penalties! Check out the wiki at http://wiki.project1999.org/

The server has both EU and US players.

Cool.

Warrior it is then...

I always played 'good' races in my past life, so might try 'evil'.

Ogre Warrior with exp penalty and hated everywhere...hmm!
