I just wanted to stop by and say hello to everyone! I just installed the game today and am gearing up to start playing again. I played the original EQ about a week after the initial release and ended up quiting around 2004. The only server I played on was the Bristlebane server where I played a Necromancer, Enchanter, and Paladin as my primaries. After quitting I gave my accounts away to a friend. I went by the names Shadius, Venner, and Saben.

I am freakin stoked to start playing again and my wife will be joining me as well.

Welcome! it is always good to see a 'returning' player! Please note that an IP exemption will be required for both you and your wife to play on the same IP address. Make a post in the petition/exploit portion of the forums following the guidelines listed below.

"IP Exemption: This is for requesting to be exempt from the limit of 1 connection per IP Address. You may request exemption if you have more than 1 real person playing from the same IP. When posting for this, please include the account names of every person that will be playing from the same IP."

Welcome to the server! Make sure to check out the p1999 wiki and the search function on the forum. A lot of cool information there. Just what you need to get back into Norrath!

Thanks everyone! Applied for my up exemption and received a prompt response! Just finishing the set up process on her tower and we should be good to go. I think she's going to go with a Druid and I'll be going with with a necromancer or my all time favorite enchanter ;)

Don't mean to sound trollish! The need to apply for the IP exemption for both accounts is not true. An IP exemption for 1 account is all you need.

Hmm, I don't think that's true.

As the instructions say, you need to include the account names of anyone who will be playing from that shared IP. That should be taken care of with one request, provided you include all of the details.

When they grant an IP exemption for a client that allows another client of the same IP to connect. The reason they ask for the names of anyone who will be playing from the same IP is so they can get a better idea of who the dual boxers are.

I am not saying don't apply for both accounts, I am just saying it is not needed to play.

I Decided to test this out using 1 account with an IP exemption and another without. I can't log in with both of them at the same time from the same IP. I'm not sure why you think only one account needs to be flagged for exemption. Or am I missing your point or something?

Careful now.

Think of the logic behind it.

Not sure what you did wrong in your "test" run. With friends behind same IP we have done the same scenario with no issues. Give it another shot?
