View Full Version : Why doesnt my Shortcut work>
Hey guys,
I understand that so many other people have been able to get on this game by follow the instructions, But i have no idea why my shortcut does NOT work! I find the everquest.exe file that the steps tell me to make a shortcut of. I change the Target to "C:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest\eqgame.exe" patchme and for some reason when I hit it, I get this error!
"eqgame.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
It is driving me insane and I can not for the life of me figure it out.
Please lend me your suggestions.
Thanks guys!

I'm going under the assumption that your eq files are correctly in the location you specified and you did not miss a folder/do not have a folder in that.
The only thing I can come up with for 10 seconds of thinking is to remove the quotation marks around the path, so that it is just:
C:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest\eqgame.exe patchme
not sure if that will work, or even make a difference atm. But may be worth a shot?
Also: you can try the EQEmu Launcher (http://moestaverne.com/module/projects/EQEmuLauncher), it is great for keeping track of downloaded files needed as well as starting up the game.
This does not solve the probelm.

tbh, it sounds like you have a corrupted file. If it was me, Id just reinstall.
I am going to attempt this....any other suggestions?

Are you on vista? Did you put your shortcut in that stupid sliding bar thing that you can put at the top of your screen, or did you put it actually on your desktop?
Ok. I tried installing and it did not work. Why am I the only one who suffers from this??

sounds to me like a OS problem .. bugged GFX driver, try the OptionsEditor.exe and set your GFX settings ... or maybe a directx problem .. would recommend trying to use the exe, then install new GFX drivers if that doesnt help, you prolly dont get arround a reinstall of your XP ...

check your resolution ...
open the OptionsEditor.exe and set up your resolution and things like that
then it should work again

I have followed the guide on how to install EQ and I am still having problems. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I tried changing resolutions, I tried re-installing it.
I used the bit torrent file from Vuze.

I run xp as well. Try patchme-w . It wasn't on the instructions but a friend had told me to add that to the script and it worked.
