Highly doubt that Shadowhand Ring from Freeport sewers is classic. Same for Ash's Utility Belt and the Jackal's Cloak, also from there. Primary/Secondary items from Jaggedpine also!
Get a Bloody Mantle (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=994) for shoulders! -ac is unpleasants but it's 0.0 with +5str.
That link posted has a lot of items to look at, so I wont bother naming specific items, but I will say that HP + AC are KING (besides haste obviously). So for example, instead of Exe Hood for the head, get a Crown of Froglok Kings (or King Tranix if you're super loaded)
AC AC AC HP HP AC HP HP, ignore the other stuff, pretend it's the same as nothing.

It also depends on what you're planning on doing.
Want to pull constantly? AC, HP, and SAVES will help you a lot. Honestly, most of my pull deaths are because I get nuked to hell splitting a caster (or two), or rooted in place, or the stun spell lots of casters have. AC, to be honest...doesn't seem to be helping me much right now. Some have posted saying they think p1999 is doing it wrong, but I dunno about all that. I just know that personally AC isn't helping me too much. And of course HP is always beneficial, but I'd rather have +5/10 to a save than 10 hp. At 28 most mobs are hitting for like 50-60, and double attack, so even if I focused on +hp items I'd get maybe 1 more hit's worth of life (since I'm not rich and can't buy the high-end crafted shit).
If you're just wanting to dish out damage, STR is where it's at. HP and AC is still beneficial for when you accidentally pull aggro and your FD fails, or if you take a riposte before you can get behind the mob.

Bruman is right. I vary rarely see a group where the monk isn't fully expected to be pulling.
That's why I shelved my monk alt for the time being. Too much work!

What's great is when you bust your ass for like 3-4 hours pulling, keeping a steady stream of exp into the group, have the spawns all broken up into a very tight rotation (as in, everything is down but you got about 10 seconds to pull a mob after it spawns or you'll have multiples up) and you think the rest of the group is as "on the ball" as you are, get a nasty pull and come into the group low on health, and realize the cleric has been ninja-afk'ing all night, your FD fails, and you die because they were watching Sex in the City or something and only checking in on EQ every 30 seconds, so you're down an hours worth of work (30 mins of exp lost, 30 mins to make it back up, or more).

i hate monks pulling and spliting if im in group, ench cc is way faster than waiting for them to dick around and split.
