Woobi it's a pretty good amount of bonus. Nothing like other crazy emu servers but much faster then what you are used to on blue. PM me if you decide to try out the server and ill try and give you some gear and plat to make your stay a little bit more comfortable.

There is no item loot. When you kill a person in PvP you can only loot whatever money they have on them and the person killed loses a small percentage of XP, about 2 blue mobs worth.

Also, there's no EC tunnel trading, we have global OOC which is used for selling/trading.

No, thats a more modern mechanic.

If you want to roll a shaman, roll a shaman. Class popularity goes up and down in waves. Its important to play what you'd like to play for the long haul, cause if you are playing a class you dont like, you wont stick with it.

naw, not anymore. Those types lost a great "good vs evil" war and moved to another custom pvp server run elsewhere (to give you an idea, they allow training mobs onto raids/groups/whatever as a valid tactic there.. of course thats not allowed on red99).

Of course you WILL find pvp and pvp will find you, but the vast majority of 24/7 "I play to grief" people were themselves griefed off the server. The community now is far more like blue99, but with a red twist to solve ingame disputes instead of things like constant GM petitions and elaborate raid rotations and varriance windows.

Server is what you make of it. Choose your side, make allies, make enemies, etc.

I find it a much MUCH more immersive experience then EQ without pvp option.

Obviously the hundreds of people who quit made sure to give all their stuff to someone still playing.... I started playing on blue long after legacy items were removed and it was just fine. I even now own manastone.

Legacy items were removed when SolRo was released.

This is a good time to catch up and get whatever remaining classic camps you want before Kunark is released. Pretty much any classic item you want can be camped without waiting. And if there turns out to be someone at a camp you want, you always have the option to fight them for it instead of rule lawyering and petitioning.

Feel free to check out the red trade section on the forums to get a idea of the economy.

5million manastones? Ive been playing on the server since day one and I have 1 manastone. There are plenty of people in the top guild with zero manastones, so no, no one is going to give you one. The economy is not "flooded" by any means.

Most people gear up as they level up, as is the case on most new servers. Vets will im sure give you spare things they have like drops from Najena, Upper Guk,etc. That type thing.

The time for Kunark PvP has arrived. The release date is slated for August 17th, 2012.

There will be an active event running which will unlock Kunark zones; a dynamic scavenger hunt. This event will begin some time on August 17th.

Depending on how quickly the necessary steps of this quest are completed will determine exactly when Kunark will become available. It is possible the event may be completed within the first night, but will likely persist until the following day. The quest npcs involved in this event will reward era-appropriate items. Regardless of your level, useful rewards are possible on turn-ins. Everyone is encouraged to participate!

There will be serverwide messages throughout the evening keeping everyone up to date on the progression of the live quest, as well as when Kunark opens. The opening of the zones will coincide with the level cap being raised to 60 as well as the ability to create Iksars. This will all happen without a server patch.

In preparation and celebration of Kunark, a 50% experience bonus will be applied a week before release and last until a week after (August 10th-24th). If you have shelved a character prior to obtaining 50, the next few weeks will be a good time to level up. If you have considered joining the PvP server, but feel late to the party, Kunark is a great chance to start a new life as an Iksar.

When you are deleveled your skills go down to whatever the cap is for your new lower level, so there is no point to deleveling here. I.E. you dont have to worry about deleveled rogues backstabbing you for 500 damage at level 20.

I could go down there and fight for the camp. I don't care to hunt people to fight and fight for the sake of fighting. I like the idea of fighting for content. Nihilu Killed all the dragons? Well there is no variance, you know when and where to be to fight for it. Hell you can organize the rest of the server to show up via the forums if you choose. If I just want to do nothing but fight players I would prolly not play eq.

I remember when Red99 was first announced, you all tried to make a huge deal out of it, like oh now we're going to have real classic EQ how it should be. The server pop was about even with blue for a few days, then it started to drop to where it is now. Its pretty obvious no one (besides a handful of you) want to actually play there. So yes, its a bit annoying to see these lame threads begging people to play on Red. You all literally bragged about griefing people off the server, now you got your wish, you can all enjoy your dragon loots with 30 or so other people. The server is there in plain sight, if people wanted to play on it they would be.

Vae Victus has had more online on red than Nihilum for the last few days, and they aren't the first guild to outnumber us. Nihilum has raided with the bare minimum it takes to kill dragons for about the last 4-5 months (seldom more than 20). Several other guilds that had numbers at or above our own at various times quit on their own accord, when they lost in pvp, or failed to accomplish what Nihilum accomplished when they had equal or greater numbers. No one held a gun to their heads.

Theres just no point in playing if you have nothing to fight over. If you can't even kill Nagafen in classic, you failed as a guild.

Not sure the point of that screenshot, as it only serves to prove you don't get it. Nihilum won because everyone else did nothing but soil their names and their guilds reputation. Then when we were successful because we tried to treat the average player with decency (even our enemies), people come back and blame server problems on us for beating the other guilds and our all around success.

People should learn from that. EQ pvp, contrary to popular belief, is not counterstrike with swords. Its Everquest with options. Its reputation and politics. Its actually quite "sandbox" in its pvp form, for a genre later called "themepark". Sandbox in that, you have the option in EQ of being a pk, an anti, a raider or a casual. You can play for pve, pvp, or both. You can help form guilds and alliances, or you can play as an entrepreneur (provided the pop). PVP is not the end game in EQ, even on a pvp server, and it never was on live, esp RZ. Content is the end game in EQ (with options!). RZ had pks, but the majority of the server, even the people who won the BotB and pvped every day, would be hardcore "bluebies" by todays retarded standards. . PvP is a way of settling who earns the rights to pve. But its completely up to you the way you play. A group of players doesn't "hurt the server" because they win. Its the losers that have done far more damage in and out of game than anyone else.

There is permanent xp bonus already. The bonus Nilbog is putting in next week is above and byond that.

Your problem is you are still killing bats and wasps at lvl 4? Its a common "bug" or (not bug) that at the very low levels you need to kill things that are even to you or at the most one level lower, otherwise you run into a big xp nerf like when you are fighting light blue mobs. You are so low level, your xp is like you are fighting light blue mobs but the mob still shows up as dark blue.

At your level the xp is currently double. Make a new charcter and get to level 2, count how many mobs it took you to do it. Do the same thing on blue99 and you will see it took twice as many mobs to do it.

tl;dr: Fight things as close to your level as possible for the first few levels. Also ask in /ooc for buffs and maybe a starter weapon or two to make this trivial.

And correct me if im wrong but, I seriously doubt people even on blue group for the first few levels either. Its a solo game the first few levels (usually).

I find it hard to believe that you were getting 1%/kill even killing lvl 1 mobs at lvl 3. I was getting about 3%/kill on mobs barely dark blue at lvl 39(dead side entrance mobs in lguk).

i was getting 1% per kill on my warrior in gfay last night at lvl 3 to 4. i cant really solo even and yellow con cents with my crummy newbie sword so needs more around to group with

New players having a lot of fun on red!

In one weeks time a very hefty xp bonus is going in that will last two weeks (one week before, one week after our Kunark release that is on Aug. 17th). That coupled with the already existing permanent scaleing xp bonus = you can get ready and level up for all our wide open content.

Latest news is, Veeshan's Peak will be up and running from day one (aug. 17th) on red99! So ALL content currently on blue99 will be on red99 for you to experience and enjoy!

New large guild <Vae Victus> (JenJens guild) has members at all level ranges, groups always happening.

Come now, and (like legoland).. play YOUR part on this fresh and stable classic server!

edit: I almost forgot, the dynamic event that will open up Kunark starts on Aug 17th and the rewards for turning in the quest items (that all levels of characters can aquire) can be as good as rings of teh ancient, manastones, rubicite,etc!

Did you miss out on these items on blue? Did you miss out on these items on red? Well its ok! Now you have another chance to aquire these legendary items by helping our fellow players unlock the gate to Kunark!

Awesome. I've been throwing together some cheapo Bows/Arrows to raise my fletching, so if anyone in Gfay needs a cheapo bow, I've got some on me. It's the just one up from the weakest bow a player can make (Linen/Hickory) but it's better than the 3 plat NPC bow and only costs me 2 gold to make.

regarding your question:

The event being used will be the same that the blue server experienced. Since many players on the red server were around at that time, and many are not, I think it is fair to explain some of the details surrounding the event.

The event is a scavenger hunt with 5 camps located in Everfrost, Lavastorm, Feerrott, Greater Faydark, and South Karana. Each camp has a set of items that must be gathered from mobs in the surrounding zones and turned in. Server messages will automatically go off as milestones are reached within the objectives which includes the current progress and the names of the latest contributors.

When all the objectives for every camp are completed, the event will progress into the next stage where a mini boss will need to be killed at each camp. Once all 5 bosses are dead, Kunark will open.

The event was designed for the blue server when we had a population over 1k. We have decided to keep the event as it is, knowing that it may end up taking much longer, possibly into the next night. This should encourage a lot of fun pvp all around the server, or possibly alliances formed with the objective to open the expansion sooner. I'll leave it up to you guys :). The good thing is that players of all levels can help with the event.

Kunark opening is automatic. Boats will start running, port spells will be purchasable, any necessarily changes will happen without a server restart.

I am going to give it a shot. Haven't PVP'd in forever, so as long as there isn't a gank squad out there just to run n00bs off, I'll probably enjoy it.

I fired up friday and I have to admit, Red is where it is at. I only got ganked once by a twink that was 4 levels higher, had some pretty even skirmishes with an even con and grinded out some levels and plat. The first time you kill someone, especially if it is a revenge kill or an even fight that you pull through, you will be hooked. I can't say this enough, dropping some asshole to the ground is pretty much the best feeling EQ can deliver.
