Hi all. I played EQOA for 3 years and seeing as it has since shut down I was looking into getting back into EQ. I tried playing EQ2 but it was just too fast paced and didn't feel like EQ to me. So here I am at project 1999 looking to get into EQ1.
I'm just curious as to if anyone is going to make a new character soon, as I could use a leveling partner, or just someone to teach me the ropes!

I am pretty new to the server (started on Aug 1st), but played EQ live from 2000 to 2005ish. So I have been away for a while. I have a lvl 10 druid over in Crushbone currently and am leveling slowly but surely.
Toss my character name in your friends list and feel free to ask questions when I am on. I will help as much as I can. We can also group up if you would like too.
when you are in game just type /friends Garrath and that should add me. To see who is on from your friends list type /w all friends
Good Luck!

What class and starting area are you at Danatoth?
djstaid you know to keep the crushbone belts and pads for quest turn in for exp? That helps you level faster out in CB.

I actually just started playing when I posted this. I wanted to play wizard but I died quickly and it's slow to solo >< So I am playing Mage atm, although if I got some people to play with I'd 100% go Wizard.
I'll keep the belts in mind XD

Yea I looked it up when I went in the other day. I remembered something about that back on Live. I always played a darkie so I didn't spend much time in the "good" areas.
Thanks for the tip though!

Just wondering, do people actually group on this server? Or am I just having bad luck >< Haven't gotten a single group since playing T_T

There wasn't much that I saw, until I moved over to Crushbone. Lots of people in there grouping up. Probably just depends on where you are at.
As soon as I hit lvl 9, I made the journey to Gfay. I would recommend it. Maybe even Blackburrow?

Grouping happens more in select places. Just find out where chars your level are and you will be golden.

In 2010 (when pop was nearing 1000), random pick up groups here were rare; add some folks in this thread to Friends then shoot them a tell for groups. Just like IRL, personal networking is everything. Before long you should feel like you are among friends once again. Just takes time to make them. Have fun!

So from what I've been reading on the forums and talking to people in game...
Nobody likes to group with Wizards because they just think they AFK all the time or something? So is it true? Will it be hard or impossible to get a group as a Wizard?

Well what they are talking about is you will be medding a lot since you burn through mana quickly unless you have some sort of mana regen. So some groups might prefer a different caster class cause they can do sustained dps where as a wizzard has more of burst damage.
Correct me if I am wrong though it has been a while since I have played this game.
