View Full Version : reroll or wait it out?

So I made a rash decision and deleted an enchanter I had been working on. Granted, he was only 18.
I went ahead and made a petition thread, but I wanted to ask: have the gm's ever actually restored a deletion for anyone? Should I wait or just bite the bullet and reroll?
Thanks

I would just reroll, if you need any assistance feel free to send me a message on any of my characters. I always have to wonder, why even bother deleting your character though? I mean since it is a free server and all

Rage quit?
I too would just leveling and not wait.
By the time they do anything (IF they do anything) you'd be back to where
you were anyhow

I deleted one of the top 3 best equipped rogues when Kunark opened, as I didn't want the temptation to come back. MMOs just are unfortunately not a good fit for my real life anymore.
Also deleted a 50 enc, and a 50 mage. In hindsight I sort of feel awful for deleting the toons considering how much effort Dark Ascension put in to equip me. Recently I requested a restoration of the characters so I could pass the info off, but I never heard back from the mgmt.

Yeah, running a bunch of data imports and analyses that take a bit to complete, so I have a few minutes between actions and so I poke around during that time :D
But back on topic, I say just bite the bullet and realize you deleted your own character - and that you don't play the game to be as high level as possible (although you should use progress as an indicator that you're doing something right or wrong), and just play.
Possibly use a new race/class combo or start in a different city and just see if you can do any better than you've done before. On live, I pretty much stuck with always starting in Faydwer because I loved CB - so I did it with all my chars.
But on P99, I tried Qeynos/BB/Halas and realized what I had missed...

Back on Live I probably erased a dozen characters and distinctly recall breaking a set of install discs. Shortly before buying new discs and making new toons. All in the effort to get off the game. It was truly addicting.

I don't think anyone really deletes their characters over a "rage quit". i too deleted mine to reduce the temptation to come back. when i deleted my character i never expected to have enough free time to play again. but things change and now i have a lot of free time. do i expect them to restore a character i intentionally deleted? not at all. but i thought i would try anyway.

Sold my account on live at the end of PoP, washed my hands of the game completely.
Then about 8 months later...decided I'd buy EQ Gold or whatever it was at the time that had all the expansions up to PoP/LoY and had another go :(
Did the same here. Quit my Troll SK, had levelled a mid-30s cleric and 31 enchanter. Sold it off, took the plat thinking I wouldn't be bothered with P99 again.
Still here :(

So you sold your P99 toons for plat even tho you had the intention to never play again? Sounds like you made irl plat to me.

Wow I wasn't expecting so many responses...
I am having a ton of fun playing on P99, but I have a terrible case of indecision. Back on live EQ I played a necro, and I've made a necro on p99 too. Wonderful to play around with again.
On the other hand, p99 is a chance to do something completely different, so I made an enchanter. Then I was torn between the two, and raised both to the late teens before I felt like I really should pick something and focus.
I went with necro and scrapped the enc to remove the temptation. Surprise, I regret it now. Oh well. It's time lost, to be sure, but not THAT bad. Thanks for the input guys.

I've seen so many people quit forever and ever, and then come back... I never deleted or sold a character I put much time in. Took my breaks, quit and came back, etc. I finally quit Live I guess but sometimes have the temptation to go check it out. P99 keeps me busy enough I guess.

I don't believe I've ever deleted a above character lvl 10 or so in an MMO. I am the type of player who switches games every few months, but I always cycle through the old ones as well. I get the itch every once and a while to go back to a game and I'm glad I never delete the chars, even if I just end up starting over again anyway.
On topic: Reroll, don't wait around for something more than likely won't happen.

Reroll and don't delete again. In WoW, I deleted all my max-level characters and twink leveling items (heirlooms). I now mess around with two classes I never played at low levels and have no intention of maxing them. Once I realized that I could still enjoy the game in small doses and without having to min-max it became much easier for me to let go without really letting go.
Also, I play whatever character I feel like in EQ. Again, no intention of reaching max level. If I'm playing a cleric and feel like rolling up a necro alt, I do it, because that's what I want to do. If I hit level 16 or some such on the necro and the novelty wears off, I go back to the cleric. I have no guilt about not focusing on one character because I know that I can do it without having to delete alts in order to mentally affirm that I'm serious. Because I'm not serious.
TLDR: Why so serious? :D

Figured if I ever did come back I'd have a base to start from rather than levelling a troll SK in scavenged large bronze armor and having some hard times with it. Regret it now obviously.
No interest in RMTs, I'm rich enough :)

I don't know how anyone could have fun mindlessly grinding mobs in EQ without any interest in getting to the end game. To each his own I suppose...
As for getting your accounts back, just look at GM activity on the forums / ingame. Seems like they all lost a lot of interest way back in 2011 and only support fixing bugs.

Yeah, if you disregard BotB, red Kunark release, the crowdsourcing of veilous quests posts or the recent flood of IP exemptions you could probably argue that point.
