What: Naked Gnome Race!!
When: Sat Sep 1st 5pm EST
Where: Steamfont to Sro
Who: Everyone who wants to come!

On Saturday the 1st ( this weekend ) I would like to host you all in the First Annual Project 1999 Fun Run!! We used to do things like this alot on my live server and Ive noticed there is a major lack of real community events where in witch ALL are welcome to participate. Well the time has come to have some open public cross the board fun!

All you have to do be a part of this fantastic event is create a new lv 1 Gnome and on the day of the event we will all race across Norrath with our new friends and see who can make it to the Finish line!

To enter all you have to do is, when you make your toon PLEASE be sure to have the LAST 5 letter of your name end in "lazen". This is the ONLY requirement for entry

We will all take off from Ak'Anon gates at 5pm EST and will race to the desert of South Ro. The frist 5 "Lazen"'s to Hail Shamewow The Golden Barb atop the Wizard's Spire will be our Big winners!

Rules are simple: Must be fresh new lv 1 Gnome
Name ends in Lazen
You MAY beg buffs but you may NOT receive any ports NOR grp up with anyone other than other lazens
No Bard Songs
No SoW pots
Other that basic DBAH (dont be an asshole ) rules apply

Prizes!

The frist 5 to finish the race will get to Choose from an assortment of prizes ranging in value from 20K+ to ~2k+
If there are any more prizes donated in the next few days then More prizes will be awarded for others coming in post 5th position.

This is ment for everyone and everyone to come out meet some new friends and have a good time! Any Support or Comments are more then welcome.

I'm not sure, plus I just thought about the exp from turning in the quest. Although you could just die and delvl from that right?

Love these. Divinity circa Daydrem did a event like this from Qeynos to Freeport. Lots of people showed, everyone had a blast.

I remember we had checkpoints you had to reach along the way, with guildmembers stationed at each. We also had a few guildmembers run with the crowd to make sure no cheating happened.

Really, I love that you guys are hosting something like this. I wish it happened more on this server. The whole event was a blast until the very end PvP match in the Arena (thanks IB.. :P )

Already said if I'm available I will sit somewhere along the way and buff people as they go by if they see me/ask. Probably no more than a Spirit of Wolf and maybe a clicky hp buff, but better than nothing. No I won't invis/Hide, I'll be in plain sight, not playing favorites. How would I know who was who anyway? Every lvl1 gnome could tell me they're actually Zeelot or some other member of TMO.

Yes, I know there's ways around it, like PMing me on Vent and the like. But I like playing by the rules, especially this one:

Been getting quite a few PMs about this, so just to be clear. I will be casting Scale of Wolf/natureskin/regrowth and porting contestants during this "race". To avoid being noticed I will only disclose my location during the event through tells sent in-game. I personally guarantee your anonymity will remain intact throughout the "race." Obviously I wont just be porting you straight to Sro, but I will take you on a nice tour of Norrath and have you in Sro in a reasonable amount of time to claim your win. No one will know the winner is a cheater or I will personally port u to a bank and pay you 10,000plat on the spot.

Everyone planning on SF -> Lfay -> Gfay -> BB -> OoT -> FP -> Nro -> Oasis -> Sro?
Because there is also SF -> Lfay -> Gfay -> BB -> TD -> Oasis -> Sro.

Hmmm the TD route could be a great shortcut, but you'd have to get lucky on the boats!

Oh man I just thought of something! What if you create a lvl 1 gnome weeks ahead of time, get him bound in EFP. Then port back to Steamfront and wait for the event. Then during the race stick with the pack until BB or even halfway across OOT. Then die and you pop up in EFP and it doesn't look too suspicious.

But the TD boats, especially the barge to Oasis, runs much more often than the OoT boat. I'm not sure if the Maiden's Voyage shuttles run more frequently than the OoT boat though.

Plus you have to change boats leading to a swim and a layover at Ogre isle? Could be worse than sitting in Detroit International trying to get home for Christmas during a snowstorm ;-)

I don't know what faction the ogres are on, but I have an agnostic human who is apprehensive to the TD ogres. Now ogres may not like gnomes as much (or like them much more for supper), but I don't know.

Nah. I did MQ on a level 4 Paladin. The only difference is the amount of time the jboots buff lasts on you... I think it's like 7 minutes or less and as you level it gets higher.

But Im glad to see some excitement about the event and hope this will inspire others (maybe staff) to get out there and make an effort to make this feel like a real community again and not just a bunch of clicks.
