tyrion made the episode. was expecting him to confess like he did in the book. im assuming his outburst also undoes whatever deal tywin and jaime made.
guys. only 4 episodes left.
things are incoming ;)

the best part of the episode is seeing reactions and doublespeak trial
maybe it was the bud but it felt electric seeing jaime know cersei was lying by his look at her
and the varys bit double speak when questioned by tyrionn
"i would never forget" bit
like yes but no

This show breathes quality. I love this adaptation. I always saw the final lysa scene being in the last episode. It's most interesting to me how storylines overlap on show compared to the book.
I wanna talk about what Melasandre said to Stannis's wife. What does the Red God need with his daughter? Is it for inheritance sake? Am I reading too much into this? The new scenes with Melesandre are fleshing out her character a lot more then the books do later on. Houten is fucking rocking that role just like the Dinklage.

Love dis show and I've read all the books. But something a friend brought up to me: why doesn't anyone suspect Littlefinger? There's not many people who would be able to get Sansa safely out of King's Landing and he's one of them. I said maybe they just don't care and are taking this opportunity to get rid of Tyrion since that seems to be what Cersei/Tywin want. Still would like to hear them brainstorm on it a bit.

im late again lol
better late than never!
i have a buddy thats convinced Stannis is still azor azai. personally i believe Stannis will become the 1000th lord commander of the nights watch.
nissa nissa = ygritte? i dunno about that. John didnt kill Ygritte, nor did he sacrifice her. if John is AA, then i could see nissa nissa being Arya. if Stannis is AA, then nissa nissa could be stannis' wife or daughter.
that being said, im starting to believe Aegon is the mummers dragon that was prophesied to Dany. im also thinking Aegon is a Blackfyre, although theres not much concrete evidence to support that.
at the battle for night's watch jon shoots her through the heart, indirectly sacrificing her
also; Ygritte is "kissed by fire"
to be fair, Tommen seems like he could be normal.
1 outta 3, not to bad ;)
I don't recall if Myrcella is insane or not. from what i've seen/ read she seems normal but theres almost no detail about her other than she is shipped to dorne
not to mention i feel she skipped some cities, and i do not believe Danys dragons were ever stolen
AND they cut the vision Dany has of Rhaegar while in the house of the undying
hmpf
th only skipped city si the dead one her people fine in the desert where they find all the fruit and water etc etc before qarth
in the book they are stolen. mormont advises her to not go to the house of undying to retrieve them.
yes, yes they did. and i was angered.
also angered that for 90% season 1 dany was gratuitous sex scenes
I have to say, Cat's hatred of Jon always seemed a little weird given her character in the early books. I can understand how the situation would hurt her, but she just didn't seem the kind of person to have a life long hatred of somebody over something they had nothing to do with.
cat's hatred of jon to me makes it sound more like she knows that he is targaryen. (rhaegar) She hates the targaryens for killing her betrothed, which through several charcaters (Baelish, Lysa, Her Brother who's name i forgot, and Benjen) said she loved him so. crackpot theory but throwing t out there that i believe cat knows jon's real parents. She doesn't hate him for being a reminder of ned's nonexistant disloyalty, she hates him because he is a targaryen. (/tinfoil hat still on)
also i fucking hate sansa stark. god damn she is so dumb and oblivious for every single book.
halfway through AFFC and i already hate it.
Asha/Yara chapters are bland, Damphair is so god damn annoying and i don't like Oakheart's povs

also; Ygritte is "kissed by fire"
technically Sansa is kissed by fire, along with every other ginger. and Jon didnt kill Ygritte. it clearly states that the feathers on the arrow are different from his.
I don't recall if Myrcella is insane or not. from what i've seen/ read she seems normal but theres almost no detail about her other than she is shipped to dorne
agreed Myrcella seems like a sweetheart. however, her being attacked and disfigured while traveling might change that.

yes, yes they did. and i was angered. also angered that for 90% season 1 dany was gratuitous sex scenes
youre right about the city. but are u fucking smoking crack? drogon is on Dany's shoulder when she enters the house of the undying, they werent stolen in the books. the actress that plays dany doesnt wanna do nudity anymore. and just for funs, heres the list of all the visions Dany sees;
The warlock Pyat Pree persuades Daenerys Targaryen to seek answers in the House of the Undying. Inside, she passes through many rooms containing visions before she reaches the chamber of the Undying.
A beautiful, naked woman being ravished by four of the dwarves who serve the house.
A feast of slaughtered corpses holding cups, spoons, and food, with a dead man with a wolf's head sitting on a throne wearing an iron crown, apparently foreshadowing the Red Wedding.
Daenerys' childhood home with the red door in Braavos.
A throne room with dragon skulls on the walls where a king resembling Aerys II Targaryen sits on a barbed throne and appears to give the order to burn the Red Keep during the Sack of King's Landing.
A room where a silver-haired man (presumably Rhaegar Targaryen) names his son Aegon, says the child is "the prince that was promised", then plays a harp.
A "splendor of wizards" who falsely claim to be the Undying of Qarth and offer to teach Daenerys the secret speech of dragonkind.
Upon reaching the chamber of the Undying, Daenerys is spoken to in a barely perceptible whisper. The Undying call her "mother of dragons" and "child of three" and tell her some prophesies, saying "three fires must you light... one for life and one for death and one to love... three mounts must you ride... one to bed and one to dread and one to love... three treasons will you know... once for blood and once for gold and once for love..."
The Undying show Daenerys many more visions before attacking her and being slain by Drogon:
Viserys Targaryen's gruesome death.
A tall lord with copper-skin and silver-gold hair beneath a banner of a fiery stallion, with a burning city in the background (this may be a glimpse at what Rhaego's future would have been).
A dying prince (likely Rhaegar Targaryen) mutters a woman's name with his last breath, rubies flying from his chest.
A blue-eyed king who casts no shadow raises a red sword in his hand.
A cloth dragon sways on poles amidst a cheering crowd.
A great stone beast takes wing from a smoking tower, breathing shadows.
Daenerys's silver trots through grass to a darkling stream under a sea of stars.
A corpse standing at the prow of a ship with bright eyes and grey smiling lips.
A blue flower growing from a chink in a wall of ice, filling the air with sweetness.
cat's hatred of jon to me makes it sound more like she knows that he is targaryen. (rhaegar) She hates the targaryens for killing her betrothed, which through several charcaters (Baelish, Lysa, Her Brother who's name i forgot, and Benjen) said she loved him so. crackpot theory but throwing t out there that i believe cat knows jon's real parents. she probably will, at least for a while, if not in definitely. she will need to hook up with Jon or Aegon or both to restart a targaryen line. i can see her winning the throne, then sacrificing herself to save all of the people and turned into a jesus type. if not Dany, it will be Jon or Aegon. i cant see Arya ever sitting the throne.
Lyanna as the knight fits, no arguments there.
Ygritte can not be Nissa Nissa, Jon didnt kill her, nor was she sacrificed.
im not sure that the horn of winter will actually tear down the wall. i feel thats just a story that people say about it, that said, it very well could, it could also be how bran the builder was able to bend the will of giants to help build the wall.
the the horn of summer is to control dragons, pretty sure the old dragon riders had them too, and is partly why Dany cant control hers. i expect Victarion and Dany will in deed make some kind of pact that involves him sailing all her people to westeros and giving her the dragon horn, in exchange for the iron islands and help getting rid of Euron.

Does Arya meet up with the assassins guild?
Will we see the one that trained her in season 1 again?
yes she goes to the house of black and white and a kindly old man will take her to the guildhall.
define "see him". the actor, no probably not. but the character, maybe. i believe the Alchemist in book 4 is actually Jaqen H'ghar, as the Alchemist's description matches the description of Jaqen H'ghar after the face change occurs as he's leaving Arya. and then since we see pate get killed by the alchemist, only to have pate turn up again at the citadel.
at this point in the books, im pretty convinced that Jaqen H'ghar = Pate
Pate has met a person who calls himself the Alchemist and has promised Pate a golden dragon coin if he brings the Alchemist the personal key of Walgrave in three days. The personal key of an archmaester can open any lock in the Citadel. Pate thinks about this offer for two days. He needs the gold to claim the maidenhood of Rosey, the youngest serving girl of the Quill and Tankard pub. Pate dreams of running away with Rosey.
On the third day Pate is with his friends, Alleras, Mollander, Armen and Roone in the Quill and Tankard celebrating Alleras's newly acquired link. They meet Leo Tyrell, another novice who thinks very much of himself and is not liked by the others. Leo mocks them and claims he will have Rosey. Shortly after the other boys go back to the Citadel leaving Leo and Pate, who is waiting for the Alchemist.
Eventually, Pate thinks that the Alchemist will not show up and heads back to the Citadel. Outside the pub he runs into the Alchemist who has Pate follow him into a narrow alley. Pate asks the Alchemist to show his face, which is revealed to be that of a young man. He has a slight scar on his right cheek and a hooked nose, while his hair is thick, black and curly.[3] Pate gives the Alchemist the key, thus proving himself to be a thief, and the Alchemist gives him the dragon coin. When Pate tries to walk back he falls to the ground and dies. His last thoughts are of Rosey.
Later, Samwell Tarly comes to the Citadel and meets Alleras, Leo Tyrell and a boy calling himself Pate, like the pig boy.

i have a feeling Sansa will get smart in book 6, real smart. i think she'll undo baelish, and somehow set herself up as a powerful lady in the north, possible ruling over the north and the vale.

"To get revenge against the Lannisters for the deaths of Elia and Oberyn Martell, Arianne Martell schemes to make Myrcella Queen of the Seven Kingdoms after King Joffrey's death. According to Dornish law, an elder sister inherits before her younger brother, which would make Myrcella the rightful queen. Arianne hopes that the Dornishmen will rise to defend her claim for a chance to war against the Lannisters, who would be expected to support Myrcella's younger brother, King Tommen.
Arianne and a small group of friends travel with Myrcella through the desert, leaving the princess's cousin and handmaiden Rosamund Lannister as a decoy in Sunspear. When they come to their destination, Prince Doran Martell's guardsmen are waiting for them. Their conspiracy has been betrayed. Myrcella's bodyguard, Arys Oakheart, attacks the guardsmen, but is killed by their captain, Areo Hotah. During the chaos, Ser Gerold Dayne strikes at Myrcella to force Doran into a war against the Lannisters. He fails to deal a killing blow, as Myrcella's horse veers away, but the princess is still wounded. Maester Caleotte saves her life, but Myrcella loses an ear and has a hideous facial scar."

In the beginning she was a sheltered, pampered princess spending all her time in Illirio's house in Pentos.

OMG Season 5 casting leak
Thanks to a tip from an unofficial Winteriscoming.net source, we have a better idea of how Game of Thrones season 5 is taking shape. Casting is in full swing, providing us with details about who the show will be adding next year- and a few of the changes that may happen with them.
Fans have been speculating that with Game of Thrones possibly filming in Spain next season that we’ll be seeing a lot of Dorne, and based on the role breakdown that has surfaced, they’re right.
We’ll tuck the details below a cut as they will include some spoilers about next year. In season 5, the characters we’ll be seeing include:
Prince Doran Martell – Doran is described as the major new player this year, appearing in multiple episodes. The fiftysomething prince uses a wheelchair, is reclusive and rules wisely. It appears the show is looking to continue the trend it started with Pedro Pascal, and cast Latino actors for the Martell clan.
Prince Trystane Martell – Trystane, the handsome fiance of Princess Myrcella, is being aged up to 18.
Areo Hotah - Doran’s personal bodyguard will appear throughout the season, assisting the prince with his duties. The show is particularly looking for a black actor to fill the role.
The Sand Snakes, Oberyn Martell’s bastard daughters (with ages ranging 18-25):
Obara Sand – The eldest and most athletic Sand Snake will be having a major fight scene with a series regular character- not one who crosses her path in the books. This is an interesting change.
Nymeria Sand – Nymeria is described as “mixed race,” with her father being the fairer Oberyn and her mother being darker skinned. The second oldest of these Sand Snakes, she’s beautiful, emotional and very strong.
Tyene Sand - The youngest of the Sand Snakes that we meet uses her wits and seductive powers, and is less of a physical fighter than the other Sand Snakes. She is just as deadly as her sisters, however, but her weapon is poison.
Others
High Sparrow - The books’ pious head of a religious movement will be appearing in several episodes in season 5.
Septa Unella – The show is looking for a character actress to play the imposing and unrelenting septa who spends a lot of time with a major series character next year.
Maggy the Frog- A fortune teller in A Feast for Crows, she’ll be in one episode next year.
Lollys Stokeworth – Just last week in “Mockingbird,” Bronn announced his intention to marry Lollys, whom Tyrion considers “dimwitted.” It looks like the sellsword will still be around next year.
Yezzan - A sleazy Meereenese slave owner.
The Waif – The strange child from the books that Arya encounters will likely be played by an older actress, one in her later teens, and we understand the show is specifically looking for a woman of East Asian descent for the part.
Presently, HBO has declined to officially confirm any casting news.
Ours is the Fury: There may be more casting information trickling in, so this list is by no means complete. The show may have already filled some roles, and that is why some parts are not present. I do hope that Arianne will be cast though, because while some aspects of her plot could be handled by Sand Snakes, not all can. A legitimate princess who is the heir isn’t the same as a bastard, so that is my only concern about casting. As for the Snakes, the show has established that Oberyn does have eight daughters, but we always knew we wouldn’t get to see all of them. Consolidating their personalities into three of them makes sense, I think.

ohhh, buddy. they can do anything they want. if Vic's only real purpose is to get Dany to Westeros, he can be cut. If Eurons only real purpose is to be a placeholder for Lord of the Iron Islands, he can also be cut.
until we know how the story ends, and until we can see whom is actually important to the story (ie: people the story can not be told without, Tyrion/Dany/Jon/etc), i assure you that while it would be an unpopular decision, anything is possible ;)

better question is, will she return to Deepwood Motte? will she return to the iron islands? wtf balon, dont u have a bridge to cross?
will Euron still marry her off to Erik Ironbreaker? will she still be absent from the wedding and replaced with a seal?
and so if Theon is otw to Winterfell already, and clearly Ramsay's brunette whore is going to fill the role of Arya? because if thats already happening, they are going to need to fast forward the absolute hell out of stannis' story, considering he needs to do all his up north bullshit, then capture deepwood motte, then hook up with Tychos and Theon.

Spoilers (we need some spoiler tags here)
1) Yes & No. Gregor spends several weeks screaming in the bottom of the dungeon super loud and freaking everyone out. He's in a lot of pain, and he's such a smack fiend that milk of the poppy does nothing to him. He eventually "dies" from the poison and is reanimated by Qyburn (the Maester stripped of his chain) into "UnGregor" who is similar to a wight or Drogo when Mirri Maz Duur reanimated him.
2) Dorne finally enters the fray. Dorne is smaller than the other kingdoms in terms of population, but it is completely untouched by war right now. Season 5 will focus on the development of several Dornish plots that had been decades in the making. Prince Doran (Oberyn's brother) is one of the most competent players of the game, and he takes the long view on everything.

Anyone else kind of wish HBO would finish writing these books? 99% of the time when a book is adapted to film or tv it's inferior to the book. But I just feel the opposite with GoT. Post Storm of Swords it just feels like there's too many fucking minor characters with PoV's littered all over the fucking place that are impossible to keep track of, twists that serve no purpose, etc., etc. I also hate the whole "guy X is brought back to life" shit that happens repeatedly. Great base of lore to GoT, just not a fan how it's fleshed out all the time in the books. Shrug.

I think it is a pretty cheap way out to "Reanimate" somebody.
I mean, the whole fight could have just been Tyrions "Dream" and he wakes up with the sound of the bells, where the real fight begins and the Mountain is killed etc etc.
I am just not sure how Tyrion gets out of this one. Having never read the books, I could only guess that Jaime some how gets him out and takes him somewhere. Killing Tyrion would be like killing Daryl in Walking Dead.
Going on a rant here, but the whole "nobody is safe" shit is getting plain retarded. If you want to see ratings drop, just kill off Tyrion. Imagine if Daryl died in Walking Dead? People would stop watching and ratings would crash.

I agree 100%. I really could care less about Greyworm and the other chick...Please do not do the bring back to life shit either...may as well do dream sequences. Oh Tyrion was just dreaming...Red Viper really won etc etc.
This is why tension is a good thing. Its compelling that we (read you) don't know what is going to happen to Tyrion. This is why, for example, no matter how awesome the fight scenes are in some movies, the audience just doesn't give a shit because the hero can't die, and we don't care about (whether negative or positive) about the people who they are fighting.

SPOILERS
UnGregor isn't The Mountain anymore though. He's a wight like the ones the White Walkers make. Gregor himself is gone. GoT does have a few characters come back to life, but the circumstances are always very specific (body mostly intact, etc), and that character is ALWAYS fundamentally altered. Look at Beric Dondarrion. When Thoros revived him the 6th or 7th time he was missing huge gaps in his memory, and his body was wrekt.
TYRION SPOILERS:
Jamie gets him out, and he heads across the Narrow Sea to find Dany since she's the only one who wouldn't possibly kill him on sight.

It's not that Gregor is important. Qyburn (who fixed Jaime's stump) is a disgraced former Maester who was kicked our for his "experiments." Cersei takes a liking to him and gives him Gregor's dying body, and he has some fun with it. That they get this giant animated corpse out of the deal is a bonus. Qyburn just wanted to see if he could make a zombie.

Prince Doran (Oberyn's brother) is one of the most competent players of the game, and he takes the long view on everything.
could not have said it better myself, just two things id want to add. and do not read this if you havent read all books
1) the name of UnGregor is Ser Robert Strong. in german strong is roughly translated to stark (google it), and we've never seen or heard from robb starks head since joffrey was demanding it go to kings landing. i would bet anything that Ser Robert Strong has the body of gregor with Robb Starks head. and i believe the skull they send to KL actually Gregors skull.
then 2) Dorne has always been in the frey ;) but has u say, they are in it for the long hustle, ie: Quintin

/sigh they wont.
the only way this happens is if Aegon is a fake.
we will see stannis at the wall in E10 this season. there should be 2 battles at the wall. the first smaller one where we lose a special someone to an arrow, and then the big battle where white knight baratheon shows up. i expect to get both of those this season
with the cast and crew scouting locations in spain for Dorne and casting for various Martells and sand snakes, its safe to assume they wont be cutting any of that.

(fake)aegon is utterly essential to the story. It means dorne is going to have to make some serious decisions in who it supports, and it's the culmination of Varys' machinations to put a possible Blackfyre on the throne.
With fAegon coming around, it means just about every house & major player has declared their moves & motivations and that it's now time to resolve everything. Without fAegon you just leave so many threads hanging.

After the four year wait for book 6, it's starting to look like GRRM is gonna go out Robert Jordan style. I get the impression dementia has set in and he can't finish the books even if he lives long enough to do so. It's just like the last couple Wheel of Time books when Jordan kept exploring new bunny trails instead of wrapping the shit up.

Aight just to take inventory here. If you read this:
http://grantland.com/hollywood-prospectus/game-of-thrones-recap-the-rumble-in-the-red-keep/
It's typical of criticism of the show at this point. People are getting fed up with the predictable trope smashing. I'd argue that if the duel scene was done better, i.e. closer to the book, people wouldn't be reducing the show to "repetitively gratuitous." In the book, when the mountain explains the order in which he raped elia and killed her and the children, it has impact. The dialogue that replaces this in the episode is really clumsy, blunts that impact and makes it seem as if GRRM and the producers are only going for shock value. Epic fail.
The scene where Arya busts out laughing on learning that Lysa is dead is really well done and much needed relief from the repetitive horror, as the writer above notes. However, it leaves me wondering how the show is going to write its way out of it. Do you think, if the hound really showed up at the bloody gate, that they'd just let him walk out of there with one of the most valuable hostages in the seven kingdoms? Even if Lysa is dead, her cousin is the ruler of the Vale and she should have protection there, right? How does the buddy cop film not end right here?

First time poster in this thread, have watched every episode from season 1 to the current season 4 episode in a matter of 3 weeks with the girlfriend.
My take from the series:
Not as 'political' as I thought before watching the show. I thought it would be a series of political manuevers with brief blinks to action, to a degree this occurs, but there is a lot more action and development of characters that are not backstabbers and redemption type situations I enjoy.
My favorite characters are those that exhibit human compassion and honesty.
1. Aryas
2. Tyrionn
3. Dannaerys(?) Tygarean
4. Most recently, Jamie Lannister, as he has been much more enjoyable post hand cut off.
I also enjoyed the knight advisor that was recently exiled from the mother of dragons, I believe(having not read the books), that he will come back in the story arc trying to prove himself loyal to Dany.
I knew as soon as I saw Oberyn flourishing his spear like a shaolin monk he was going to die, but the twist at the end still caught me offguard, was literally fist bumping for tyrionn untill the skull splosion.

My thoughts exactly. I just don't think Danaerys' actress is good enough to pull a scene like that off. And now she won't even get naked anymore...oh well at least we have Missandei for that now to make the Essos scenes less unbearable.
It was also weird seeing LF looking worried for a change...from the books it seems like he always had a way out of every situation. Maybe he did but Sansa just beat him to it. Who knows. And now he might have Arya too? If those guards turn her away then they should be killed if LF ever finds out lol.

I'm a fan of a lot of the changes the show makes from the book, however, one of the things I wasn't fond of was how different the story of the wall has been. I understand why with ten episodes a season they have to cut it down, but it just didn't have the same impact it did in the book where you spend hundreds of pages with Jon and the wildlings, the relationship he builds with them, and then him fighting them.

Ya dunno. The fourth book blows and doesn't have a lot of plot to it so I dunno how they'll get ten episodes out of it, I guess maybe by cliff hanging some of these plots? They will probably have to draw on materials from the fifth book next season as well to give certain actors and actresses things to do.
