Right now our population is down to 50 players or less. We needs your help. Nihilum is having problems killing Kunark dragons and is recruiting anyone that can breath without the support of a machine.

we do not play games. our goal is to recruit everyone. sick of competition or FTE? Join us so that we can slay dragons uncontested. dont worry about pvp, we are all in the same guild.

Server is doing great, there's a exp bonus of 50% added ontop of another bonus already.

Leveling is fast and smooth and there's OOC serverwide, highly recommend new players to join us on red even if PVP isn't your fancy!

There's plenty of guilds to join besides just Nihilum if you do find yourself logging in :)

Reds, I say this with due respect, but the P99 community has by and large made the decision about how it wants to play.

It is not PvP.

I don't begrudge anybody who tries to bring more players to their server; I just don't think many more bites are going to be had in the pool of blue players.

I understand how you feel though... "Hey we have a great thing going, it'd be perfect with more folks!" I felt that way over the summer when blue was also feeling a population dip.

I believe there are some salient points to be made in Red's favour (guild on guild PvP instead of poopsocking for example), just don't let one of the posers (Mitic etc) do the sales pitch for you. Get it straight from someone of quality

^ this is an accurate description as i recall from my time on ral zek. only difference is unlike on ral zek where there were many many players and you could come back with friends for some fun (but imbalanced pvp) it seems like on red you would just get dicktrained indefinetly until you lucked out and found it uncamped.

I am more than glad to help newcomers to red, even should they choose to not join my guild. Red is not some wasteland of degens training you and what not, in fact most people are willing to help you, groups are had, and PVP usually involves the option to loot and scoot should you lose, often the winning side will even help you CR assuming you scoot. Or you can wait in line for a chance at a raid mob, lol.

Never played on Red. Don't really intend too either. Nothing against PvP it's just not my style. When I think of PvP servers I think of some kid with nothing better to do then to sit around a nooby area ganking people that are 40 levels lower than him. Laughing as someone is trying to get anything at all accomplished with what time he has to play.

Just doesn't seem fun to me....at all. I'm sure my perception isn't even accurate. But I know PvP and how it's mostly ego's and fluff. Not really my cup of tea.

This thread is epitomizes why red99's population has fallen to its current level, and why no one else will give red99 a shot. Any conversation to/from/about red99 devolves into a childish yelling game, and whoever yells the loudest for the longest amount of time...wins?

I played on a pvp server on live, and REALLY wanted to have fun playing on a pvp server again, but the community that really wanted to have fun casually with the game left and all that's left is what has been presented in this thread.

I'm quite sad for red99 because I think it could have really diversified the 99 community. I know a large group of people from my previous server who would love to try it out again, but...sadly it won't come to pass at this point unless things really change.

Needless to say Batlle was caught red handed and despite denying it for x amount of days/weeks came forward and admitted he had a drug problem causing him to steal from his mommies purse.

Nizzar kept this secret from his soldiers and forgave Batlle of his sins because who needs trust in a guild when you have 100% attendance and can aid in a exp binge on Kunark release?

Further I would like to add, group pvp (even when trains are invovled) are far more fun then raids and require real skill, and quick thinking. (not quick random button mashing). Evacs, mobilization, zone knowledge, all come into play and being able to bring down key players and support your group is important, a good/decent cleric can really turn the tide, or a percision strike on a well twinked enemy before their other forces can mobilize. Clear communication in vent... Theres allot to be said for pvp to be proud of good pvp.

I used to be a bluebie, was convinced to turn to pvp servers a few years ago. Holy shit this game became about 10x more exciting and challenging. Definitely recommend trying it and having some legit pvp before talking shit. Slaying mobs on top of other people's corpses is pure joy.

I agree, modifying the base has very limmited use. The Neriak Ghouls are one example, and incidentlly are a faction that do not take diety or class into account what so ever, only race.
Id support the creation of hotzones (a limmited number , or have them rotate or wtf ever) if the flat rate universal xp bonuses were removed.

If "forceing" the population to come together for decent xp is the result, then grouping will happen naturally for other reasons (protection in a highly competitive/dangerous hotzone).

Once again this only works though, if you remove the currently inflated xp bonuses that are server wide.

This issue must be hit from both ends. Bring people together with the carrot (hot zones, group bonus wtf ever) and the stick (remove all of the xp bonues from soloers, who need it the least and would just take their flat rate bonus and go quad or solo in some remote corner of the world till 60).

And before someone says "well people will group for phat loot!". Wrong, not when everyone is just single pulling with invisi tricks through 10 walls and 3 floors named mobs straight to zoneline or where ever they feel like killing their cherry picked named mob at.

Im for whatever fosters community interaction.
Another reason why teams would not work on this server: everyone has 20 accounts with one character on each one (or so).

Back on the EQ teams you of course had limmited character slots and limmited accounts (had to pay for each one, and most did not have multiple accounts). You were restricted to making toons (at least on sullon zek) on your account that all shared the same team.

Here, everyone would have their "evil" account/toon, their "good" account/toon, their newt one etc.

It would be pointless. Would be no team spirit/pride like early team EQ and early DAoC realms had.

Just would be a great mess in general. And besides, for a real team server you have to have way more of a pop then we do now.

To be fair red would be an amazing server if it had a larger active pop.

I mean blue is fun but end game its true you are either farming or camping at a spawn point for a mob that's due to spawn.


The only problem I see in switching to red is that you will be pretty much stuck solo from 1-50 and the lowbie population just doesn't exist. This means you will pretty much have to roll a caster because if you try to solo with an untwinked melee character you're going to have a bad time

So in essence you're forced to PvE on a PvP server for 50 levels, when really you could PvE on a PvE server that you know has a future....

Maybe Rogean will have to think about an adjustment. Live set up the Mayong server, if anyone remembers it - coined the "51/50 server". All new characters started at L51 (could be adjusted to here), with 50 AAs (well, forget those). Start everyone at a higher level and maybe THEN, on top of the XP bonus, you can then say "this is a server where 100s will play".

I'd move to a pvp server that starts you off at 50 with decent gear in a heartbeat. You'd get to skip most of the grief and just simply enjoy the pvp environment. I think this would be a great idea for a blue server too. Would be much more motivated to play rather than spend 8 months to reach 50.

itemless xfers or 1 char per acount 51 solves the issue.

There would be a ton of fun dragon raids if 51 was the start level though... i mean a ton =) give people quest armor and simple gear (like darkforge, and dark reaver)

Or hell start them in banded with a combine sword, fair enough and ez enough for casters. Make em research spells still.

I say do that but leave the option in to start at level 1 and grind slow, theres a few of us crazy people that like it. Easily doable by a discord book like quest at start.

Been dinking around on Red during downtime now that I've figured out how to run 2 clients.

My only complaint was that the exp was so fast that it far outstripped the silver/copper I was raking in and I was unable to buy level-appropriate spells. Especially when I scored buffs from high-levels passing through...

That was, until Sigleaf hooked me up with a load of Spears and small change from dead Deputies... twice. Now I'm rolling with deep pockets.

No level 10 twinks anywhere on red99. They are around 25 or so and only in Unrest.

I think global OOC should be removed because about 4 people constantly post ridiculous stuff driving away bluebies like Tasslehof that we need to increase population and fun.

EQ is a perfect PVP game where skill an preparations are number 1 and working together with friends is emphasized to the maximum. It also solves contested EXP and loot camp issues and overall gives purpose to the game. Why gear up to fight monsters you can already kill easily in a PVE server?

I agree about "fighting people you have no chance of beating" I think item loot is an important balancing factor. It gives a group of noobs incentives to fight a twink PK essentially like he is a raid boss. If you are persistent and clever you can kill a twink and score an ikky regen BP at very low level. It makes low level PVP worth doing for noobs, and risky for twinks.

Level 60's don't like it because they want to raid in full gear and not worry about losing their trak BP's but I think that population is least important to the health of the server, while level 1-50 is extremely important.

Anyways, while red99 isn't perfect, and its execution was shameful and I would do almost anything to give it a wipe and a fresh start, as it is, it is a great server with a lot more to do than blue. Avoiding griefers is easy on 160 player server. If more pop comes I think we will need item loot. Noobs have no loot worth caring about, and twinks will have to be more careful in their griefing.

At the very least, there is more room at the high end of the game than there is on blue, and more to do when you aren't busy min/maxing

Now you're just being a baby. Ofcourse there are gonna be twinks around, ofcourse sometimes you are gonna get killed by them, that's why you stick it out, level up, get some gear (you can't stay in cloth here till the 40s like i've heard the bloobs do over there) and have some fun.


Also, the reason EQ PVP is so great is because it perfectly compliments the PVE. If you want to camp a mob, and you get there and someone else is farming a camp. Instead of sitting in a line, having to wait all day, you can just fight them for it and the victor takes all. After playing EQ with the PVP switch turned on I couldn't imagine playing a server without it.
