Pick Pocket and the loot pool

I remember playing in 99 and how pick pocketing loot did not come from the same loot pool at what is looted after the mob is slain. If that's not true on this server, then the class is fucking pointless other than DPS, lock picking and disarm trap, and poison are worthless, so why not make another skill pointless as well?

Can you not read? People in my group are telling me not to pock pocket, because THEY think it comes from the same loot table as the pick pocking skill. Actually it did come from the same loot table and was changed later. If you can find evidence of when it was changed through Allakhazam, etc it will be changed for you. That's how pretty much everything goes. It's the way most people remembered it unless someone can prove something using archives and submit a bug report.

Always came from same loot table as far as I remembered (I played a rogue to 57 pre-luclin). Always got a kick out of pickpocketing hill giant toes from living mobs. Never once did I pick-poicket toes and they subsequently drop when it was killed. Same with plat, you can pickpocket, I think, up to 1/3 of what they're carrying in coin before you just get a single copper over and over again. I distinctly remember groups mentioning that "it's a bad day for coin drops" when I was pick-pocketing (this was after the 'stop theif' message was removed).

yeah, well people like to bitch. and at some point on live it did have it's own loot table and it was before all the expansions. The best thing to do to shut people up and to not make the rogue class lame. Our skills are broken, the last thing you need as a rogue is the only thing that works other than combat skills to be to focus of people bitching about you using.

So what? a few silvers get put in my pocket on every mob we fight? You can heal, or teleport, take damage or have some skills or spells that define you as a class. all of my skills are broken or totally fucking useless.

Also, I can confirm that you can pick a mob dry of coin very quickly. There is no 1/3rd limit. I typically pick over half a mob's coin just in one swipe.

I think you are severely overestimating how good rogues were in the beginning. We were one of the most useless and underplayed classes for a very long time. Regardless of how much you are complaining about how bad things are now, this is a complete cakewalk compared to how it actually was.

WTF are you talking about? I'm not talking about removing anything, other than to add something that would be better for everyone. That being, adding a loot table just for the pick pocket skill. That way there is nothing to people to bitch about in the group, you can use the main skill that defines you as a rogue, with out any bitching. Honestly, regardless of how it's supposed to be, if you are removing money from the group, then you should be considerate in how you use it. Offer to main loot and split, or at least every 10 mins or so split some of the coin you've picked.

Nobody's saying you have to give over every single copper, but by pick pocketing money away from mobs, instead of it being on a separate loot table, you're essentially one of those main looters that splits a small portion of what they earn.

I'm no loot whore, but I like a relatively fair shake of the group loot. When I played a monk, if I didn't have my wife playing with me and looting, I walked away from groups with zero loot because I couldn't loot 5.0 weight items to sell and nobody ever seems willing to main loot.

Show some consideration to your pullers and the people that have to med in order for the group to keep killing.

But then, from the way you express yourself, you don't seem a considerate type and I'm wasting my breath. But hopefully someone out there reads this and takes it to heart at least.

*thinks* My best friend played a Rogue back at release until late PoP. He was always in the group with me, and best as I can remember, loved stealing the ears right off the goblins in HHK and such. It's like everyone is saying, pickpocket wasn't changed to a different loot table until later in the game. Just because you have pictures from 'classic' doesn't mean you're right.
