the one from 2010 they turned some normal mobs, like priest of discord, into mobs like mini CT's and stuff, was pretty cool...it got kinda funny when they left them like that for weeks after Halloween.

Cazic-Thule just did a little rant and had somthing to do with FoB, idk, was just leveling my Ikky SK and a ton of people poured into the zone and CT started yelling stuff O.o
CT was in Field of Bone and Adjudicator found him first being awarded a Manastone, supposedly.

This would be ideal but every time they do that it goes terribly wrong. Namely, every newb in zone getting fully geared out in LR.
The whole wasting hundreds of people's time like tonight ordeal is the worst possible scenario.
2 clever people got items (kudos) and a high end guild got a couple after poopsocking hate. I speak objectively when I say that is just poor form.

Socking? How do you figure? Our guy found Inny in Blackburrow (props to Cephalic's baby Druid) and when he said he was going back to Hate we ported up. He wasn't there so our raid force went down to Kith and finished a General run we were on. Right as the general died the next broadcast went out of him being up in Hate and we were first on the scene after Full Circle got eaten by the millions of drakes.

at least you guys get events, other then kunark launch there has never been a single event held on red and we have 0 guides on our server.
:(
You guys make your own fun in global OOC chat though, that's part and parcel of being an isolated minority...perhaps if red had a healthy population they'd get an event.
I'm sure I could write a nice storyline if someone wants to make me a guest GM :D

Yes, he was hiding on the island with Tangrin. Received the title "Soldier of Cazic Thule" and a manastone (which was later traded back in for a guise.)
Thanks to the staff for the fun ! Im sure there would have been more if not for the silly shenanigans that went on in Hate.
Thanks all who participated in last nights event. It was definitely fun for the staff, and hopefully fun for you as well.
To those who feel unfairly treated, robbed of loot, or betrayed by staff or other guilds: Please remember, it was a GM event. Things were different.
We hope you take it as a fun experience, and not something that sets a precedent for future raid rulings. The normal rules didn't apply because the normal scenario was not in play in Hate.
The event was fair to all involved, and staff would like to continue doing these in the future.
Thanks again to all involved. Hope you had fun.

It's cool that the staff put some effort into an event at all, but that aside... the event depressed me, for sure.
It was just a Halloween-themed extra loot/fun night for the hardcore raiding guilds, who had a ton of people on to even know the event was starting, who could quickly notify more guildies to get on to join in the event, who are most accustomed to mobilizing and raiding, who know how to cockblock second-tier guilds pre-planned planar raids by training all of fear around during the event, etc.
Casual players? They got to try to wtb their banded and wts their hq bear skins while scarecrows.
Fair's dictionary definition is "free from bias, dishonesty, or injustice."
Injustice's dictionary defintion is "inequity."
You're saying that this event treated all parties involved equally?
That's like saying that "the system" treats inner-city black kids and white suburban kids equally.

I'm just being the devil's advocate now, because I'm over it really.
But pointing out that part of the event was accessible to everyone while part of the event was effectively only accessible to one (or maybe two) guilds? That perfectly demonstrates that not everyone was treated equally.
I guess this is classic? Lord knows I played on live for dozens of days /played back in the pre-luclin/pop eras, never in a raiding guild, and I never once experienced a GM event.

As far as I know, Blackburrow and Field of Bone are not locked down by any guilds on this server. Both of those zones had people in them when the event began and it was a matter of finding the God not standing there and doing nothing, then complaining about it on the forums.
In Hate yes, people mobilized quickly and 3 of the top tier raiding guilds competed for the kill, and were rewarded. This did not keep people from trying to find the Hide and seek style events and no 1 guild received all the items given away.

I experienced at least three different GM events way back in the day on Live. When I switched to Dark Age of Camelot, I lamented the fact that there weren't any random crazy things concocted by GMs. I missed that.
I never really had a chance at getting super rare rewards. However, on one Halloween, I remember killing some werewolves in West Commons with my 20-something ranger and receiving a Serpent Insignia Collar. I never had a shot at taking down the uber werewolf that dropped a Rubicite BP, but it was fun watching it get blasted to smithereens all the same.
At another live event, I simply died from a weird mob in EC. I actually thought it was funny, and I don't think I lost XP for it.
Please keep doing abnormal events, GMs. I don't really care if I never have a shot at amazing rewards. They help spice things up, regardless.

What did you have to do to get rewards? Was it simply hide and seek? Like if a lv 11 ran into a god by mistake did he get a guise? I don't understand. I logged on right as the last announcement about CT choosing a soldier.
Yes, Inny was hiding in Blackburrow and then after he died CT broke free of Fear and was hiding in Field of Bone.

1 event was won by a level 31 elf, it was in Black Burrow.
1 event was won by a peck from Divinity in Field of Bone.
1 event was won by BDA in PoH.
2 of the 3 events were won by people either under level 40 or not in one of the top 2 raiding guilds.
ONE event was for 46+ and won by one of the top guilds on the server.

Not trying to come off as an A-hole, but considering how successful some of the other GM events in the past, that required raids, why did you guys for-go randoming to award loot with all participants. Especially with a raid mob that wasn't going with normal raiding rules and who apparently lottery FTE'd himself on anyone in the zone.
What's done is done, I'm not hung up on that, but curious if the "more events in the future" will be handled similarly or if the GMs see that some improvements can be made.
I've been to a few of Uthgaard's raid events and I don't think any of them ended with as much confusion as this last event.

the PoH thing could have gone smoother. in hindsight i should have split everyone into 4 or 5 groups (by guild), and awarded 1 person from each group. in future, thats what we plan to do, as i told another player earlier.
the other two events went fine imo.

Not all, I believe it was normally 3 or 5 total. There would be a /random and the top rollers or lowest rollers or the ones that were closest to a number picked by another GM (like Rogean) where the winners.
Everyone participates and everyone has a chance, regardless of FTE, Kill xp, or guild affiliation.

Confused as to if the bolded word is showing a personal negative bias towards the individual, guild as a whole, or possibly a description of a halfling i am just not accustomed to seeing here since every other explanation was in a normal standard aside from this one.
Also, the mobs were trackable as it was 2 druids who found them and Adjudicator said that he found CT on track.
Good to see events happening again and glad to hear that in the future the rewards will go back to the style of old GM events where everyone has a chance at rewards rather than the two extremes of NOBODY getting anything or a particular raid guild winning. (Final tally on this one though for those interested BDA 4 guises and Divinity 1)

It was a cheap shot at shorter members of the server staff ;) Sirken suffers from massive Hobbit jealousy. We're getting him help though, don't worry.
Also, by my count it was 3 for BDA (from Inny), 1 for Divinity, and 1 for a guildless player (perhaps that player is guilded now, haven't checked).

For every one person bitching about the event, there are many, many more who enjoyed it.
Show some gratitude for the time that the devs and GMs put in.
Finally, I guarantee that if the GMs had implemented any of the suggestions in this thread, a handful of people would bitch about those events, too. That's just how it works.
tl;dr? get over it and be grateful
