I decided to try p1999 again, and I wanted to try something other than a rogue (sitting LFG for hrs is boring). So I've decided on a bard, what race/stats should I choose?

Whichever race you prefer, and all points into STA.

Wood elves are the worst. They literally look like they have a giant ballsack on their back.

Human/STA

Looks of any starting race is made irrelevant; from level 15+ you have the option to always looks like the objectively best race in plate, which is dark elf. That also solves any vision problem as well. Humans are the only bard race capable of high end min max items like robes and Trakanon shoulders, if that is your long term concern.

Humans are the best bard race. My logic is undeniable.

Play what makes you happy. Race and starting stats probably make barely that big of a difference at 60 in Kunark gear.

I'm sure we can get neckbeards in here to provide math but do what will keep you happy playing til 60

Half Elf Female Bards are hot. Put stats in Strength. Need it to wear gear.

This a thousand times.

Just look at the bard wiki page to get an idea of how you could put starting points into your bard to get different effects. Unless you are in a top raiding guild, chances are that you will not be maxing any of your main "bard" stats without buffs, even in Velious, which isn't even out yet.

I picked half elf and put 10 in cha, 10 in sta, and 5 in str...I think. I honestly don't remember. Will I be sad if I could have had 15 more sta compared to a bard that calculated out all the best combinations based on Velious armor stat points? Definitely not...15 sta is like maybe 125 more hp?

Furthermore, some races can wear different racial armor (I like the Mystic Koda'dal armor for bards), but again this isn't really a game breaker either.

Do what you think will let you have the most fun!

wood elf bards seem to have more resist gear available to them.

Personally my Bard is Wood Elf and I put max points in Cha and left over (5 points) in Agi.
