What is your favorite race?
I do realize that races are tightly connected to classes, and no matter how much you like say Dark Elf, if you want to play a ranger or paladin - you have to settle for something else.

But try narrowing your choices to to say 3 top picks ;)

My favorite race is Barbarian. I love the starting area and Everfrost used to be a lot more social during live. However, I only leveled one toon past 60 during live and that was a dwarf...it always seems like they run faster!

Halflings all the way.

1) Cheerful and laid-back race in a world full of horrible monsters. Everyone else is off righteously fighting the great evil/good/whatever; they just want to offer you a freshly-baked pie.
2) Great town and town music.
3) Surprisingly good warrior stats (very high DEX, for one thing) so you can savor the feeling of tanking an enormous giant/dragon/god as a tiny half-man.
4) Hairy feet.
5) They have a mayor instead of a king, and their police force wear masks and hats!

Honestly I don't see how anyone could vote differently.

yeah I kind of remembered them afterwords :(
But they are so far away from both the classic and the peak time of EQ, half of former eq players not even aware they exist ;)
So forgive me ;)

Half-elf, nothing like being a mixed mutt! But really, my decision comes from playing a Half-Elf Paladin on Day 1 of EQ and then a Half-Elf Bard most of my EQ career. Monk was Human though...go figure. ;)

Does anyone else find that they treat certain races better before they've gotten to know them or have some opinions about them favorably or unfavorably. Like I cannot stand Dwarf males... I've had enough bad experiences with a variety of people playing a Dwarf male characters that I cannot help but start forming judgements on any I meet. Most people playing them tend to be stubborn, impatient, greedy, and hyper. On the opposite side, I think of an Halfling character as someone who will be fun to group with because most that I meet tend to just go with the flow and happy go lucky.

Really surprised by poll results tbh, interesting. Guess they did a great job in making different races that would appeal to different people and not have everyone be the same "objectively cooler" races. Although I'll stand my ground, Ogres are "objectively cooler". xD

Ikkies are by far the best. Awesome lore, no other race had the gods crawling to them to help destroy an ancient empire! I don't care about the class, anything the ikky can be is the best in velious (sans shaman unfortunately :( ) I just wish ikkies could be paladins and rangers...

Always liked trolls, high/wood elves and erudites, just the look of the classic models.

actually as we found out in future lore Greenmist that saved Iksar from Sshisar wasn't of Cazic Thule doing. Cause when it appeared next time it hit Iksar just as badly, and saved Qeynos from ogre's invasion. True origin of Greenmist remain a mystery.
