Heyo,
I am having this weird problem with my Network Card, whenever I zone theres a 50% probability that I get dropped off of Ventrilo and Xfire and about a 20 % chance to crash out of game.
I'm pretty sure its a general problem with my PC. Checking the Event Log I can see that my network device somehow gets reset at this occasion, if the connection can be re-established in time, I don't crash out of the game, should it take too long i gotta basically Kill the task and reboot the game.
Now there have been random disconnects from ventrilo before, but it's starting to become a problem now that I'm playing P1999. It seems like whatever happens when I zone has a huge impact on the problem.
I have already installed a different NIC driver, and tried a few other steps to troubleshoot the problem. For example, if i disconnect my router and go directly to my modem, the problems decrease. But yeah, they don't disappear.
I am going to try and fiddle around with my Network Driver settings and see if I can resolve this. If I can't get it to run I'll prolly just install some cheap ass NIC, as I am pretty sure this will resolve the problem.
Now, the reason I am posting here: Anyone ever had similar problems ? What part of zoning could "cause" this bug ? Maybe there's a change in the EQ client settings that could help with this, if not I guess it was worth a try.
Just to sum up: this is a general problem with my PC/NIC, it just seems like EQ is very good at triggering it. Maybe someone can help me out ;)
regards
