I have asked this question a few times in IRC and the responses have been 50/50.

In Kunark, melee characters receive disciplines at certain levels.

Were these innately learned? Learned from a trainer?

Discuss.

I'm pretty sure it was automatically given to you once you hit the appropriate level.

This off the top of my head, but I remember it being a trainer, wasnt it like 53 56 60? As I said off the top of my head and not sure if the levels were the same for each class or Im thinking of warriors only for those levels. probaly wasnt that helpful so delete it you want :)

I remember in PoP they had specific discipline vendors you had to buy from, but I cannot remember how it was handled before that. :(

I do not recall ever having to train or buy them before that guy in PoP though.

You didn't have to train them.

Correct, you automatically got them as soon as you leveled.

ok as I said my memory from 9 years ago sucks, and I'm all for having them as you level and not having to go train them! Lets go with that

They were auto once you hit a certain level.

Additionally, they weren't really 'given' at that level - you could hit like /disc and see all the disciplines that were available to your class. When you tried to use them it would just say you have to be level xyz to use this ability. So there wasn't really a learning mechanic involved, it was just there and wouldn't work until you hit the right level.

That flipped a switch in my brain, and this is correct. 100%

May as well mention that ALL disciplines were on the same timer iirc. Obviously different discs had different cool downs, but if one disc was cooling down you couldn't use another etc.

I still remember making my /disc Stonestance one for my monk when he turned 51 :) i was so disappointed with it.

Stonestance was the greatest disc ever, with the exception of defensive. You could auto use it any time FD failed and be quite confident that it'd refresh before the next fail. I would have died twice as often pulling if I didn't have that.
