I have tried playing in full screen and I keep getting booted out of the window. I don't quite understand what's going on here. When I play in windowed mode, I'll also have the window go as the non selected window, making my toon keep running, turning, etc. Any advice on this? This could wipe groups etc later, right now it only hurts me. But still is incredibly frustrating.

It's related to resolution.

I can't remember the exact cause, but I found that switching the resolution and then switching it back again fixed the problem.

Ultimately I ended up having the task bar auto-hide and play in Windowed mode. Suffice to say it seems like full screen, but I got tired of switching resolutions all the time.

Thanks for your help, will check on resolution when I get back in game late night tonight.

Resolution switch is not a permanent solution and nor is full screen mode (as for multi monitor users the same thing still happens - cursor goes off screen and you end up clicking on other monitor desktop).

So is there a more permanent solution?

A way my cousin had me fix a similar issue was to open task manager, click explorer.exe, and end task. This will get rid of your taskbar, any other windows up, and your windows icons. Re-maximize by alt-tabbing, and you should not have the problem anymore.

It has worked for me. Try it out.

happy killing,
Kylenorr

ps. to start up explorer again, click new task and then run explorer.exe

I appreciate the help, even in windowed mode, keeping my cursor on the window, and closing explorer.exe I'm still having that same issue. Any other ideas?

think i've found a solution I'll try out tonight. Was in Duxa's all in one installer thread

Problem: When in full screen, clicking certain parts of the screen brings the game back to windowed mode or minimizes it.
Solution: Go to where EQ is installed and find "eqclient.ini" open it with notepad and find the line that says "WindowedMode=TRUE" and set it to "FALSE", also check to make sure that lines "Width=<number>" and "Height=<number" are set to your monitor's resolution.

I have this issue when I play over at my buddies. It happens after I tab out and go back to fullscreen mode. The work around i've found is to go into video modes and hit accept/apply/confirm. That seems to fix it until you tab out again.

My plan to resolve this includes buying a much bigger monitor and playing in a windowed resolution that looks good.... might have to fiddle with the custom UI so I can still read the buttons through my cataracts...

Probably won't ever happen ... /grump

Wineq didn't solve anything, neither did the other fixes, will have to keep searching.

Thanks all though.

WinEQ should solve everything... Are you sure that you are properly launching EQ via WinEQ?

Yeah, opening it through winEQ, normal launch, but still have things popping out of window, at early levels this isn't a big deal but later obviously this is going to be frustrating.

open winEQ, go to task bar, right click, EQ, Default EQ profile. pretty much as simple as that...

What I do to fix this issue is full screen (Alt+enter or via the options tab) the game then Alt+O or just go to the options menu. Go to display tab, video modes and just click accept (Don't need to change anything unless it's not at the correct resolution. It always works for me and it allows you to click anywhere on the screen. Just have to do it whenever you log in. Takes 5 seconds so not too terrible to do everytime. If you happen to window out, you just need to repeat it again.

Went over to my buddies again (who has this issue) and I found a better fix. To clear this up set your windowed resolution to the same as your fullscreen resolution and you should no longer have this issue.
