Planning on getting into EQ again after a 12 year hiatus. I left about 6 months after Velious came out. At the time I had a 58 Paladin and a few 30s and 40s of various classes.
I plan on playing between 7 and 10 EST during the week. I really don't care what class I play and was wondering what seems like it is the most needed in the Level 20-40 range at the moment? I know that warriors, clerics, and enchanters are always needed but was wondering if there was an over abundance or one or the other. Once I make my toon and get a name I will make a real Username on the board. If anyone else plays during these times and wants to get together to play please let me know.
Thanks for the heads up, I plan on being up and running tonight. Can't wait!:D

I honestly would say that there's an over abundance of all of those classes. I would NOT make another paladin. I think if I were to re-roll again, I would roll a wizard. It would be complete crap leveling up, but you would literally have the power to get a guild into hate ( i can name 2 guilds right now)

Play what makes you happy and we'll see you in game.

Other than the advice of play what you want, you can always create a character and do /who all class count to find out all the counts your heart desires. I believe you can even do a /who all 20 40 class count to get counts in that level range.

honestly most sought after class is rogue so you'll want to play that, or warrior.

Most needed? Cleric always.

Well for some reason I decided to go Rogue. Will probably add a healer to the mix once I guess monk up to a level where he can farm a little bit of plat. Thanks for the input guys. Name is Yaolin and I'm currently LvL 6 starting out of Freeport. If anyone wants to get together and group msg me here or in game. See you soon!

Good luck, expect many hours lfg. I tried a Rogue, but did not like not having anything to do while waiting for a group. My suggestion is you are going to want to start up an alt that can solo. You can always send tells from the alt soloing to people asking if there is room in their group for a Rogue.

Man a Rogue is a hard way to go for a first toon. :D Not too sure how you are going to make much plat for gear on one. Sure ain't going to solo it. Once Velious comes out Cleric's will be in HIGH demand trust me. Mobs hit like hell.

I've leveled a rogue to 60 on here over the last 12 months or so. The only way I managed it was by regularly messing around on red while sitting /lfg on blue and by making a strong solo character to hop on when I got too frustrated with the rogue to keep playing.
It DOES suck being 100% reliant on a group (and not just a partner... rogues really do need a tank and a healer at least, unless they're fear kiting), but the rogue does do very well in groups and the sneak+hide and other little utility things are fun.

Enchanters are arguably the fastest and most efficient soloers in the game. You can move Stein's of Moggok at level 12 to get some platinum. Charisma gear is relatively cheap. People always love clarity!11! And you can always get in on AoE groups. Oh and you are almost always a requirement for good post 50 exp camps.
Rogues are always welcome in groups post 50 in Kunark. I'd imagine leveling before that could be frustrating. Warrior much the same, but starting out will be tough because their aggro capabilities are still primarily gear dependent.
