As I remember people used to farm these camps for plat. Goblin heads would drop that sold for around 3 plat, also goblin blood that sold for like 1 plat. Right now they are just dropping junk armor/weapons/occasional bronze. I remember you would get 1-2 heads and maybe 1 blood from one cleared camp.

I'll try to find the patch notes tonight, think it was around 2002 they nerfed it. Anyone else able to remember anything more?

There are two aqua goblin camps just south of dock area -- camp 1 is closest to docks, camp 2 is a little further down. Camp 1 has 5 goblin spawns, while camp 2 has 6... spawn time is about 4-5 minutes, so that gives time to med, heal, practice sense heading while waiting between spawns -- perfect timing though if you are lucky enough to have both camps to yourself.

Could probably solo these camps at level 10 if you are twinked and can heal yourself -- level 11 is no problem because all should be light blue by then and will not gang up on you (greens will attack anyone who gets too close). Will still get experience, but only minor amount, until level 12 or 13.

Faction increases are for Storm Guard (Dwarf Warriors), Emerald Warriors (Wood Elves), and Gemchoppers (Gnome Warriors) -- good if you need to get by guards in any of these zones.

As far as loot, you want to save the goblin heads, steins, backbones, and blood if you are farming for cash. Even if the goblins are camped, you may want to come down and check bodies because not everyone knows what to save. Each goblin drops 4 arrows all the time, so this is a good place for archers to stock up. They are also a good source for crude bronze needed in dwarf, gnome, and elf newbie armor quests -- just ask if you can loot, because most people camping here leave these items to rot. With one camp, you should be able to loot about 100-150pp worth of items per hour.

The best strategy here is to camp the aqua goblins. You should be able to kill them at level 13 or so. They drop 4 things that are very valuable, the blood and backbone (both stackable) the heads and the stein. If you have good faction/CHA, you can sell them each for about 4.5 PP.

Me and my wife did these camps a few weeks ago for blood and heads, and your correct nothing drops but rusty weapons etc.
However this should be placed in the BUGS forum, not here.

newbie armor was added just before or right after luclin. Also, stackable heads? That seems very "non classic" to me. I have a feeling these aqua gobs loot table was modified with the addition of newbie armor quests.

Did some more research, it looks like the aqua goblin camps weren't put in the game until 2002.

*** News from Faydwer ***

It is rumored that the major cities of Faydwer have announced a call to
arms for all young adventurers. News of mysterious bloodthirsty goblins
to the west setting up encampments has prompted all residents of
Kaladim, Kelethin and Felwithe to all begin preparing themselves for
what they think may be a momentous battle. Intelligence originating
from the Scouts of Kaladim and Kelethin has informed their respective
leaders of a possible alliance between a mysterious aqua goblin tribe
and the Orcs of Clan Crushbone. Due to the possibility of an attack by
either or both of these powerful tribes, guildmasters of all cities
have begun the training of young soldiers brave enough to heed the call
to defend their homeland against all unknown creatures and new
inhabitants.

Then their loot tables were nerfed in March 2003.. hmm.. so either way their not classic. I wanted their plat too *tear..

As stated before this stuff was added after Luclin with the newbi armor camps.

It didn't become a money making spot till then.

I remember when people started camping high level players there for easy money on live, it wasn't fun for the rest of us.

The whole loot table of Butcher is changed:

Wandering Greenbloods would drop Greenblood Tokens (~4pp)
Skunks would drop Skunk Tails (~4pp)
Goblins would drop Goblin Head (~3pp) and Goblin Blood (~2pp)

The tokens and heads were not stackable.

I didn't really bother to post this though, because I also thought it was "not classic". I don't remember making tons of plat back in 99 when I was on my monk or necro, but when I came back to the game in 2002 or 2003 (was between Luclin and LDoN) I started noticing how much those drops were worth.

They nerfed the sell price on the live servers within the last couple years or so to be worth only a few gold or so (fractions of what they once worth). It was always one of my favorite places to farm as a growing-up ranger.

At first, I was kind of upset when these mobs didn't drop these loots for me here, but I realized how much effect it would have on the server's brand new economy. And now I'm glad those drops aren't in the game. There are plenty of other worthwhile camps that have decent sellable loots.

The prices of the drop were actually nerfed while I was still playing so it had to be around 2004-2005.

I'm pretty sure there was a lot posted about this in Allakhazam at the time.
