I like the more visceral and realistic direction they want to take it. Kind of like they did when they restarted Batman w/ Batman: Begins.

Keep in mind that this is used as a pitch to a studio. So it's low-budget and won't have (hopefully) half the quality the movie would have.

Honestly, I think it'd be interesting. I think people are too harsh on movies these days. Prince of Persia got all these horrible reviews, but I enjoyed it. It's not in my top 10, but why does it seem that any movie/game/etc NOT in someone's top 10 list instantly gets tagged as "crap"?

I go to movies or play games to be entertained, not to have some sort of spiritual epiphany. If it's entertaining, then it gets the Bran Stamp of Approval in my books.

Sorry, that was a bit of a sidetrack, but... I think this MK reboot could be interesting.

Also keep in mind the actors in the short may not reflect the final movie actors.

The guy playing Jax plays in a movie called "Blood and bone". Its got like a 6 on IMDB and i watched bloodsport recently for shits and giggles, and i ended up on Blood and Bone on IMDB and reviews were like OMG best martial arts movie ever! So underrated! So i downloaded it.

Wow is that movie bad, but its similar to Gymkata, its so corny and bad that its mildly entertaining so youre able to put up with it till the end. The guy can really bust out some nice martial arts moves, which also helps.

To everyone who thinks it looks BAD, just at exactly are you actually expecting from a Mortal Kombat movie anyways? I think if anything the new spin on the idea, the more gritty realistic feel, will work farrr better than did the absolutely HORRIBLE, cliche, acted and made movies of a decade back.

And for martial arts movies: Ong Bak 3, google it even though it may not be out yet on the internet, its out in Thailand. First 2 are pretty fucking sick, but 3 should be ridiculous.
