We get /tells from the opposing guilds members, officers and even leader telling us about how demoralized everyone is. Then, we back off and the numbers on the server go back up, people get cocky and we have to squash their pride all over again.

I can get behind Visage on this. I think the problem is a lot of people in Nihilum achieve a feeling of self worth based on accomplishments on this server, so whenever that is threatened they act like a rabid dog backed into a corner.
