Question about Mage Focus Items

I recently started a mage (to join the cool kids club) and I had a question about the mage focus items from Temple of Sol Ro such as Broom of Trilon. Do these focus items affect all pets or do they start at a certain level?

I thought I read somewhere that they don't affect pets until level 34, but I can't remember where and I don't see that on any other site I'm finding.

Should I bother trying to get the materials now or should I just wait until the mage gets a little farther along?

There are 4 Minor Focus items: Focus level 4 to 49 pets
These four focus items are obtainable via quest from the gnome magician Vira within the Temple of Solusek Ro located off of the Lavastorm Mountains zone. You must have at least indifferent faction standing to quest the minor focus items. Read the Guide for more specific information
*from level 34 to 49 the pets will appear visibly larger when focused

At 49 the torch,broom,stein and shovel overlap with the planar staves (the planar ones being only slightly better, however post 49 only they have an effect on the pets)

I did read that guide from the p99 companion but still wasn't sure.

So you're saying the focus effects from the broom, torch, shovel and stein work on pets starting at level 4, but the "size" of the pet isn't affected until level 34?

I'm not concerned with planar items now as I imagine I will never get those.

According to the data on the game companion, yes it effects pets lvl 4-49. is this for sure? fuck if I know.
