If so what branch/unit or if you've served in the past or plan to server in the future post here.

I'll start:

Spent 2 years in Iraq so far.

Was in Marine Recon, but have been attached to, detached from, under the command of, etc of so many different units it's not even worth beginning to list them.

Out now however and cashing in on that G.I. Bill~

The Post 9/11 GI bill kicks so much ass....

I was actually getting more money with the old one because of my State G.I. bill... they claim they're going to compensate me the difference but I haven't seen it yet and have very little faith in the VA. They're good at somethings, but getting you your benefits in a timely manner isn't one of them.

I love it, Got 100% tuition paid at a 45k a year school, 1k a year for books and $1300 a month BAH to live on. All i did was go to the website and swap my old GI bill for the new one. Very easy painless procedure. VA deals directly with the school so you dont have to front any money...ever. VA deals with all the tuition payments directly with the school. It has nothing to do with your state, its all VA ran and its very well streamlined.

Yea, I'm familiar with the Post 9/11 since that is what I'm currently collecting; however before the switch I was getting tuition waived by the state and ~1900 a month (kicker / other bonus), where as now I'm only getting ~1400. Pretty much the combination of the old federal benefits with my state benefits having been a Wisconsin resident at enlistment were superior to the Post 9/11 benefits.

Not saying that for most people the Post 9/11 isn't a huge upgrade - just for me personally it wasn't.
